Longterm analysis of beaver foraging - Do beavers sawing off the branch on which they are sitting?
Bartoň, Marian ; Vorel, Aleš (advisor) ; Jarmila, Jarmila (referee)
This thesis is focused on the analysis of eurasian beavers foraging behaviour and their strategy of getting food in the long-term perspective. First part (theoretical) of the thesis contains an explanation of the theory of the central place foraging, animal selective behaviour when food is selected and central place foraging influence on trees fertility. In this part is also mentioned the predation risk or how does the beaver perceives competitive pressure from other animals, and factors that can cause the change in population density of beaver colonies. The objective of this work is to determine the effect of long-term beaver populating on the volume of comsumed biomass and expanse of the territory, and a comparison of these results with one another in terms of different times of occupated territories. The second part describes the methodical procedure of the field survey. Data I collected from the areas of Šumava, Český les and South Moravia. I tried to find out, how the beaver´s foraging behaviour is induced depending on time inhabiting the territory and on increasing distance from the shore. This research shows that the beaver trips for food increases with age of occupation in 7-10 years and then the distance of tree cuts declined again from the shore. The volume of consumed biomass in reliance of increasing time of beaver occupation also decline and the most favoured tree species was an oak tree for which beavers were willing to walk long distances. The results of the simple analysis are presented as a measurement for both the entire region and also for each territory.

Stuccoed Decoration in Folk Architecture in the Vysočina Region (Czech-Moravian Highlands) during the 19th Century
Minář, Ivan ; Škabrada, Jiří (advisor) ; Novotná, Eva (referee)
Stuccoed decoration of a folk architecture in Bohemian- Moravian Highlands in 19th century Thesis is describing an area of a newly specified region Vysočina (Bohemian- Moravian Highlands specified in 2000) on the borders of Bohemia and Moravia, which is not well explored esp. in the topic of a folk architecture. According to pieces of knowledge coming from author's own field study (since 2000) and to processing of accessible materials coming from older field studies (Ethnological institute Academy of Science of Czech Republic, SÚRPMO, Museum of Bohemian-Moravian Highlands in Jihlava etc.) it tries to restore a shape and circumstances of an origin of traditional stuccoed decoration of a folk architecture built in brick in 19th century at Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. This phenomenon, often comparable in its qualities with well-known South-Bohemian marshland, was completely marginalized according to its long distance from the sight care residences (in České Budějovice and Brno). Therefore many valuable objects were ravaged or devalued. Besides the analysis of a historical and territorial development the thesis tries to describe activities of each single plasterer working in region and analyses individual techniques of decoration. (This part was consulted with professional restorers.) The essence of thesis is...

Competition in air transport in the Czech Republic in 2006-2011
Bartoňová, Kristýna ; Ševčík, Miroslav (advisor) ; Zeman, Karel (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to provide a market analysis in the field of air transport in the Czech Republic in period of 2006-2011 and to assess the development of competitiveness of CSA in these years . During a few decades, air travel have managed to build solid position in the transport market and has become an integral part of the economy. It represents the fastest and most modern way of traveling long distances. In addition, its popularity and availability improves year to year. During the twenties, Czech Airlines were among the pioneers of aviation, but is currently facing problems due to increasing competition from low cost carriers in the Czech Republic. CSA also face problems within the company, which significantly affect the running of the company and was forced to accede to the steps of restructuring. The Bachelor's thesis also deals with development of low-cost airlines and their effect on. Using survey find what factors play the most signifiant role of potential clients' selection of airlines and how they perceive the development of affairs around the company CSA. By analyzing the survey and the findings, the paper aims at suggesting a possibility how the company may attract new clients.

Spatial distribution and mobility of critically endangered Rock Grayling in the area of Orlik Reservoir
Váňová, Anežka ; Kadlec, Tomáš (advisor) ; Petr, Petr (referee)
The critically endangered grayling (Hipparchia hermione, syn.: alcyone) is one of the rapidly declining diurnal butterfly species which occupies only few remaining localities in the Czech Republic. Currently, its remaining local populations can be found in the central Povltavi area where they inhabit mostly sparse light oak forests with low cover of the herb layer. As a diploma thesis, the study was conducted during the season 2015. The populations of H. alcyone were researched around the Orlik water reservoir. The occurrence was confirmed at six localities out of which two had been unknown until then. Within four dense populations have been using the capture-recapture method evaluated the mobility and dispersal abilities of the species. The populations differed in their dispersal abilities. Various average long distances across localities and sexes were detected. The average long distances varied (males 142to300 m, females 78to261 m) across all locations. The flight probability were ascertained with two methods: the inverse power function (IPF) and the negative exponential function (NEF). The NEF method fitted better the flight probability at all localities. The interchanges of individuals between localities were noted only in a case of two closest populations. These one-way interchanges (three males and two females) were always directed from dense to smaller population. The adults of H. alcyone were typical by very low dispersions between separate populations, probably due to lower densities of populations and innapropriate structure of migration paths. Three overflights of males and two overflights of females to the neighbouring location were recorded. With respect to the size of local population and the structure of migration routes, the individuals expand with difficulties. In order to maintain and support habitats of new H. alcyone biotopes, the more open canopies and creation of a larger number of small clearings in the neighbourhood of the H. alcyone localities is necessary.

Consumer Protection in New Czech Civil Codex
Kubešová, Eliška ; Grmelová, Nicole (advisor) ; Neděla, Radek (referee)
As a member of the European Union, the Czech Republc is obliged to implement European directives and regulations, also in consumer protection policy. The revision of European consumer acquis has begun in the same time as the long awaited recodification of Czech civil law -- new Civil Codex. The thesis focuses on how the new Civil Codex reflect the most important recent European regulations and directives. A few were chosen to be analysed more thoroughly -- directive 2011/83/EU, Draft Common Frame of Reference, draft of common European purchase contract, draft of directive 2011/793 and regulation 2011/794. Moreover, it focuses on a few selected issues included in the new Civil Codex, notable from the view of European legislation transposition -- e. g. the definition of consumer, distance and off-premises contracts, unordered supplies and unfair contract terms

Preference of Media in Different Cultures
Hořínková, Adéla ; Kincl, Tomáš (advisor) ; Novák, Michal (referee)
This thesis deals with relationships of culture and media which are used by people of definite culture. In the research there is the most widespread media of present. It includes newspaper, radio, television and internet. The culture is assessed from the viewpoint of Hofstede's cultural dimensions theory. In this theory there are five dimensions which are Power distance, Individualism, Uncertainty avoidance, Masculinity, and Long Term Orientation. The methods, which were used for results, were chi-square and Pearson's adjusted residuals. The researched dates of quanti-tative research originate in Mindreader project of the company Mindshare which was taking place in year 2012.

Floristic survey of the surroundings of the abandoned village Malonin (Prachatice region)
Kadlec, Jakub ; Karlík, Petr (advisor) ; Ulbrichová, Iva (referee)
Abandoned villages and belonging landscape structures are significant due to high biodiversity. The former village Malonín in the Prachatice region is an example of medieval settlement with well-preserved landscape structures, therefore multidisciplinary research is focused on understanding the origin and development of its specific long-strip field patterns. As a part of this research, floristic survey was being carried out during the period 11. 4. 2015 to 14. 9. 2015 in the 5,25 km2 defined study area. The survey was aimed at plant indicator species, vulnerable and endangered species or rarities concerning the phytogeographical aspect. Within 7 visits, 70 findings of 18 plant species were recorded. Every finding was mapped using the ArcGIS software and described including ecological requirements, former land-use categories and forest typology. As well, the findings were interpreted if possible. Additionally, distance between each finding and the abandoned village, the nearest existing village and the nearest stream was measured and the results were displayed using box plots. Relation between these distances and Ellenberg indicator values was tested statistically. Certain species indicate former settlement (Vinca minor, Syringa vulgaris), some species take the advantage of specific man-made biotopes e.g. Corydalis cava. The majority of recorded species is listed in the Red List of vascular plants of the Czech Republic. The results confirm the uniqueness of abandoned settlements and the worthiness of studying and preserving its heritage.

Effects of competition on the passenger rail market in the Czech Republic
Švarc, Jiří ; Ježek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Chmelová, Pavla (referee)
In order to reform the monopoly structure of the railway sector in the Czech Republic the railway operation was separated from railway infrastructure. Despite the mentioned organization reform current intensity of rivalry of the competition in the passenger rail transport segment stays considerably limited and high subsidy demands are made to ensure the public rail transport operation. This thesis analyses funding of the passenger rail transport and tries to discover the causes of high subsidy demands. It also tries to quantify potential savings of the public funds that are provided to operate long-distance passenger rail transport.
