Za účelem reformy monopolní struktury železničního sektoru došlo v České republice k oddělení železničního provozu od železniční infrastruktury. Současná intenzita konkurence v segmentu osobní železniční dopravy zůstává i přes uvedenou organizační reformu značně limitovaná a na zajišťování provozu veřejné železniční dopravy jsou kladeny vysoké dotační požadavky. Diplomová práce se v rámci analýzy financování osobní železniční dopravy pokouší odhalit příčiny vysokých dotačních nároků a kvantifikovat potenciální úspory veřejných prostředků poskytovaných na provoz dálkové osobní železniční dopravy. In order to reform the monopoly structure of the railway sector in the Czech Republic the railway operation was separated from railway infrastructure. Despite the mentioned organization reform current intensity of rivalry of the competition in the passenger rail transport segment stays considerably limited and high subsidy demands are made to ensure the public rail transport operation. This thesis analyses funding of the passenger rail transport and tries to discover the causes of high subsidy demands. It also tries to quantify potential savings of the public funds that are provided to operate long-distance passenger rail transport.
