Jelínek, Tomáš ; Waic, Marek (advisor) ; Štumbauer, Jan (referee) ; Pátková, Hana (referee)
"Outdoor Education" and German Scout-Type Youth Organizations in the Czech Lands Title: "Outdoor Education" and German Scout-Type Youth Organizations in the Czech Lands Abstract: The thesis deals with the formation and history of German youth organizations in the Czech Lands. It especially covers those organizations that either directly referred to the Scout movement originating in the UK or US, or at least adopted the fundamental educational methods and principles of working with the youth which were typical for these movements. These organizations marked a revolutionary change in the approach to youth and their education. Such a change was possible thanks to a series of philosophical, pedagogical and political transformations in the society. Scout movements were especially built on the modern philosophical theories based on the ideas of American and German philosophers. However, the roots of this approach to nature and to human education can be traced to the early modern era, when the first modern approaches to teaching appeared and were generally applied under the changing economic and social environment of a modern society. In addition to philosophy, the movement was also influenced by a number of other social, political, ideological and cultural phenomena. The origins of these organizations can be seen...
The memories of witnesses from eastern Giant Mountains
Lindrová, Tereza ; Jindra, Matouš (advisor) ; Suk, Aleš (referee)
Title: Memories of whithesses from the east of the Giant mountains Objectives: The aim of the work is to summarize historical events and social changes connected with the era from the beginning of colonization of the east of the Giant mountains to the second half of 1940s through utterance of regional natives compared to thematic literature. Methods: To gain data for this thesis regarding utterance of contemporary witnesses I used largely publications Krkonošští rodáci vzpomínají 1, 2 a 3, further a magazine Krkonoše-Jizerské hory, a website Paměť národa - Sudetské osudy (Antikomplex) and a method of semi- structured interview with one witness. I focused especially on German- speaking natives born in 1920s and 1930s from the east of the Giant mountains, largely from villages Horní Maršov and Velká Úpa and surroundings, occasionally supplemented by compatriots from the middle of the Giant mountains. It was 17 withesses in total - 8 women and 9 men. Afterwards I made a comparation of sources mentioned above with prefessional literature and populary educational literature and websites, which have a relation to the region and to period, historical and social events. Conclusion: The thesis introduced key moments of life stories of predominantly German-speaking withesses from the east of the Giant...
The influence of the expulsion and replacement of Sudeten Germans in Kraslice
Banzl, Marcel ; Nigrin, Tomáš (advisor) ; Šmidrkal, Václav (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the effect of the forced expulsion of Germans from the town of Kraslice, and the replacement of the original population with newly arrived colonists from then-Czechoslovakia and other Eastern European countries in the 20th century. The introductory chapters provide historical context by describing Kraslice's history and the town's most prominent cultural and economic characteristics, and describe the process of expulsion in Kraslice. The core of the thesis is dedicated to both the short-term and long-term effects of population replacement. The post-war change in the local economy was mostly driven by the consolidation of pre-existing German businesses into two state-controlled companies, whose continuing function was key to the town's success. This transformation is therefore described with regards to its effects on Kraslice up to the present day. Due to strong anti-German sentiment after WWII, Kraslice's original culture was entirely wiped out (both figuratively and literally, as exemplified by the destruction of historical buildings) and replaced by the state-sanctioned "Slavic" culture, which was in reality a front for communist propaganda. For this reason, this thesis also details the absence of any cultural ties today's Kraslice has to the hundreds of years of...
Sdružení Ackermann-Gemeinde in Prague
Julišová, Adéla ; Kunštát, Miroslav (advisor) ; Šafařík, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the Christian organization Sdružení Ackermann- Gemeinde, which was created as an independent institution in Prague in December 1998. It followed the tradition of the Sudeten German Ackermann-Gemeinde and began to work in the field of Czech-German relations. The chosen topic is particularly important because no expert attention was paid to this organization and for that reason Sdružení Ackermann-Gemeinde is not mentioned in the secondary literature. Mostly primary sources were used during the writing of this thesis. The historical development of Czech-German relations from the perspective of the Catholic Church in the 20th century is outlined in the first part of the thesis. Subsequently the work focuses on the formation and the workings of Ackermann-Gemeinde in Germany, founded by expelled Germans in 1946, including its two branches in Rome and Prague. In the second part of the thesis there is the existence of Sdružení Ackermann-Gemeinde in Prague studied from various perspectives ranging from the preparations preceding the establishing of the organization, through the analysis of the articles of the association, to the important personalities who engaged in activities of this organization. The specific position and importance of this association in bringing Czechs...

Matunová, Alena ; Cebe, Jan (advisor) ; Knapík, Jiří (referee)
The thesis Radio Broadcasting for the German Minority in the Czech Countries until the Year 1945, with the Example of the Melnik Broadcast Transmitter describes the radio broadcasting for the German people living in Bohemia and Moravia in the period from its formation until the year 1945. The analytical part is divided into three sections: broadcasting for the Germans in the First and Second Republic and Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Another chapter focuses on the broadcasting from The Soviet Union (especially on the broadcaster Sudetendeutscher Freiheitssender) and Great Britain. It focuses on the contrasting access to the radio broadcasting for this group from the side of the Czech political representation and from the side of the German state. In the Czechoslovakia, there was this broadcasting in hands of the private institution Urania. The Sudeten Germans have focused their attention to the German stations, which were offering them more popular program. This study describes the influence of the German propaganda on the Sudeten Germans behaviour and the reaction of the Czechoslovakian Broadcasting Company. It...
The Plans of the Czechoslovak Resistance-In-Exile for the Post-War Organization of Czechoslovakia and Central Europe in the Period of 1938-1945
Roudnická, Zuzana ; Jeřábek, Martin (advisor) ; Kubátová, Hana (referee)
This bachelor thesis aims to describe the Czechoslovak resistance plans for the post- war organization of Czechoslovakia which were to be implemented after the end of the Second World War but have never been accomplished. Firstly, the situation in the Czechoslovak resistance is presented. The paper discusses the formation of the Czechoslovak resistance, its transformation into the Czechoslovak government-in-exile, activities of the resistance and problems which needed to be dealt with. This part is essential for understanding latter chapters of the paper. The plans for the post-war organization of Czechoslovakia are studied in the main part of the thesis. The paper features concepts concerning topics such as potential territorial changes, federalisation of Central Europe (including the Czechoslovak-Polish Confederation project), future political system, and the Sudeten German issue. Each concept is described in the context of its background, its development over the course of war, and position of the Allies. The thesis explains the reasons why these plans were abandoned and not carried out after the end of the war.
The role of Václav Havel in the Czech-German relations between 1993-1997.
Kuklíková, Kateřina ; Kunštát, Miroslav (advisor) ; Handl, Vladimír (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the impact of the former Czechoslovak and Czech president Václav Havel on the Czech-German mutual relationship within the examined time period between 1993 and 1997. The main focus lies on Havel's personal initiative, gestures and concrete political steps concerning the improvement of the Czech-German diplomacy. According to the high frequency of his engagement in this specific agenda of the Czech foreign affairs, Havel played an important role in the whole development of the Czech- German relations, occasionally even as a "driving force". Firstly, the historical and political contexts of Havel's position in the Czech-German bilateral diplomacy is depicted, with an emphasis on the negotiations regarding the Czechoslovak-German Treaty on Good- Neighbourliness and Friendly Cooperation from 1992 and the Czech-German Declaration on the Mutual Relations and their Future Development signed in 1997. Secondly, the official speeches of Havel, proclamations, meetings with German statesmen, particularly with the president Weizsäcker, or various media interviews had been analyzed. Although the legal documents should have contributed to a constructive dialogue and a successful cooperation, the historical issues related primarily to the World War II had an enormous impact on the...
