Vegetables and fruit in school lunch system
FLEMROVÁ, Karolína
My thesis is named Vegetables and fruit in school lunch system. I have chosen this topic because I think that is very important which eating habits kids are creating in childhood. The basics of nutrition are determined primarily by their parents, but also by the school in which they spend most of their time during the day. A thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. Theoretical part is focused on the nutrition of school children, especially on fruits and vegetables. There are macronutrients and micronutrients described in each chapter. Thesis also deal with fat-soluble and water-soluble vitamins. The part concerning vegetables, fruits, and their technological modifications, such as cooking, baking, cooling, and others, is also important. At the end of the theoretical part, thesis deals with school meals, consumer basket of school canteens and educational programs. For the practical part, the are two main aims. The first aim is to inspect the popularity and frequency of fruit and vegetable consumption among students attending the school cafeteria. It is made by research. Research has been done by a questionnaire survey at two primary schools. The results are showed in bar graphs. Second aim is to determine and compare the composition of school menus in selected school canteens, which were attended by children filling out a questionnaire about the popularity and frequency of fruit and vegetable consumption. The result of the practical part shows that the children do not consume enough fruits and vegetables, at the same time they are not satisfied with the choice and quality of vegetables and fruits in school canteens. The menus show that the same types of vegetables and fruits, as well as their form of serving, are often repeated in canteens.
Lifestyle of obese children and children with physiological weight
NEJEDLÁ, Lucie
This bachelor thesis focuses on lifestyle of obese children and children with physiological weight. This study has been determined to reach two following goals: to map lifestyle of obese children and to map lifestyle of children with physiological weight. The theoretical part of the study covers lifestyle and its main aspects such as nutrition and physical activity. Further, it focuses on characteristics of the older school age (from ages 11 - 15) and an evaluation of children's weight. The last chapter is devoted to obesity and childhood obesity, in which causes, diagnostics, complications, prevention and treatment are mentioned. The practical part focuses on observed lifestyle factors of children between 11 and 15 years old. Data was evaluated on the basis of the definition of healthy lifestyle, which included nutrition of children, physical activity, partaking in sport-oriented afterschool activities and spending free time at home (watching television, spending time on computer). The research set consisted of 20 children in total with their parents. In particular, 10 were obese children and 10 were children with physiological weight. All respondents along with their parents filled questionnaires in and provided children's week menu records. Results of the research show, that the nutrient intake of obese children does not meet recommendations in most cases. The fat is usually present in an excessive quantity. On the other hand, in the case of children with physical weight, the fat intake meets nutrient recommendations. Furthermore, results show, that obese children move to a lesser extent and do not partake in sport-oriented afterschool activities contrary to children with physiological weight. Watching television and spending time on computer occupy more time on a daily basis. On the contrary, children with physiological weight spend less time watching television and on computer given the amount of physical activity.
Determination of the motor performance level using the Unifittest test battery at the Grammar School and the High School of Economics in Sedlčany
PINKAS, Štěpán
In this graduation thesis a sample of 237 pupils of the Grammar School and the High School of Economics in Sedlčany was tested by using Unifittest test battery to determinate the motor performance level. The weighted arithmetic mean of the total score of the test battery for all the pupils was 18,3 points, which means that the final evaluation of motor performance level is bellow average. The best results were achieved in pull-ups test with the weighted arithmetic mean was 5,3 points, which matches average evaluation, however, only boys aged 15-19 years were tested. Also, in the both-feet-long-jump-from-stay test the pupils reached average evaluation with 5,1 points of weighted arihmetic mean. The worst evaluation of the pupils was in 12-minute-running test, where the weighted arithmetic mean was 4,0 points and the evaluation was below average. The weighted arithmetic mean in the sit-up test was 4,2 points, in the 4x10 meter-shuttle-run test the pupils got 4,5 points (only pupils 11-14 years old) and in the pull-up endurance test the result was 4,7 points (only girls 15-19 years old). The evaluation of these tests is between average and bellow the average.

Intake of the D vitamin at children in older school age
SALZEROVÁ, Eliška
Recent scientific research speaks of the vast importance of Vitamin D concerning our health. It is widely known that vitamin D affects the metabolism of calcium. Moreover, new evidence recently came to light about its positive effects on areas outside the immune system. It also impacts a child's proper growth and development, nervous system functioning, and creation and growth of neurons. Up to 60 % of European children suffer from Vitamin D deficiency. The reason for that can be insufficient intake of vitamin D-rich foods and inadequate time spent outside in the sunshine. I chose four goals for my bachelor's thesis. The first goal is to ascertain the amount of vitamin D that lower secondary school children intake orally. The second is to ascertain the significance of oral vitamin D supplements for lower secondary school children. The third goal is to ascertain the number of products with vitamin D content than lower secondary school children have in their diet. The last goal is to determine what part of dietary reference intake of vitamin D lower secondary school children take in from food. The method I chose to reach those goals was quantitative-qualitative. The sample consisted of 20 lower secondary school children from Písek and surrounding areas. For research methods, I decided on questionnaires and a weekly menu. Questionnaires allowed me to determine the number of products with vitamin D content that each subject consumed and information about potential supplements. The foods listed in the menus were input into the Nutriservis software, which calculated the vitamin D content in microgramms per day and week. Subsequently, I used the weekly vitamin D intake to calculate the percentage of its weekly oral dietary reference intake that the subjects take in. If the subject used supplements, I added that to the overall amount and again calculated the actual vitamin D taken in as a weekly oral dietary reference intake percentage. The questionnaire uncovered concerning products with vitamin D content, lower secondary school children prefer milk, or dairy products, and eggs. Another frequently consumed products were vegetable oils. Fish appeared in the diet once or twice per week. Almost half of the subjects did not eat liver at all. The results of the weekly menu made it clear that supplements are crucial to fulfilling the weekly oral dietary reference intake as, without them, none of the subjects would fulfil the weekly DRI Subjects that did use supplements were successful in 75 % of cases. Weekly oral dietary reference intake was fulfilled by six out of eight subjects using supplements. These results indicate that it is necessary to increase awareness of both children and parents about vitamin D intake.
Risk Behavior of Pupils in the Second Grade of the Hluboká nad Vltavou Primary School
LACIKA, Pavel
The period of adolescence is a period of fundamental changes in the organism of the individual person and also in human´s developing personality. The aim of this work is to determine the occurrence and also possible changes in risky behaviour of pupils in the 6th and 9th grades of the Hluboká NAD Vltavou Primary School. Next aim of the work is to find out whether the frequency of risky behaviour of students rises with increasing age. The work also focuses on the level of energy drinks consumption among adolescent students and the relationship of this consumption with the time spent at the PC, respectively tablet. To achieve the goal, a quantitative research strategy, a questioning method and the technique of questionnaire are used. The questionnaire uses closed questions with the possibility of selecting specific items in the answers and semi-closed questions. The semi-closed questions allow completion of offered answer. A total of 82 respondents were interviewed, 47 girls and 35 boys. Due to the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic an electronic questionnaire survey was chosen. The respondents were therefore addressed by their class teachers who sent them an electronic link to the questionnaire via means of communication. The answers are processed and evaluated by a statistical method using graphs and tables. The hypotheses were tested by a contingency table using the Chi-square test of independence. The hypotheses were verified by 2x2 contingency tables using the Chi-square test of independence. In the case of low frequencies in some PivotTable cells, Fisher's exact test was used. The dependences of the two ordinal variables (the time spent at the PC and the frequency of drinking energy drinks) were tested using an independence test based on the Spearman correlation coefficient. All calculations were performed in the TIBCO STATISTICA 13 program. The established hypotheses were confirmed. The results of the research are summarized in the part discussion and they are compared with the facts shown in the literature that deals with risky behaviour issues. At the end of the thesis possible benefits of this bachelor's work are stated as well as possible solutions- such as the improvement of school programs for primary prevention.
