Corporate culture of international enterprises in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis focuses on the relatively difficult issue of organizational culture, national culture and the effect they have to each other. It seems there is very extensive space for this theme in literature for the first sight, but the fact is that comprehensive view of it is missing. It is not easy for students to find out the rate effect of the national culture on the organizational culture in actual available literature. This thesis propound to give comprehensive view of this issue. It compares the results of literature review and three case studies in the concrete organizations. It should shown a rate effect that foregin parent enterprises have on the Czech branches in the sense of organizational culture. Culture of an international company

Working life of most individuals is carried on in organizations. Every organization creates its own corporate culture, that is influenced by external environment and its culture. This thesis is focused on theoretical hypothesis of this subject and their comparison with several real life experiences. It describes corporate culture and its impact on shared values, norms, symbols and artefacts. It concentrates on international companies, where members of different national cultures have to cooperate, and it considers the importance of good preparation and awareness of possible differences as factores, that enable realization of own ethnocentrism, which can subsequently reduce culture shock, caused by different approach to time, space, and especially to communication. The paper focuses on french ethnocentric companies, coming to the Czech republic after 1989 and keeping deliberately french management. Those managers, representatives of the french national culture, are confronted with the local czech culture. The thesis presents results of selected researches with their experience with czech employees. The goal of my bachelor's thesis is the identification of cultural differences, which are influencing Czech and American managers. I am dealing with a question of national culture, sight on Czech Republic and United States of America. I am dealing with a question of corporational culture and with a question of intercultural management as well. For analysis of these topics I used theoretical knowledge and questionnaire inquiry. The outcome of my thesis is a suggestion of culturally symptomatic style of management for Czech and American managers in international environment.

Cultural aspects of multilateral negotiations at the UN

The Diploma Thesis deals with cultural aspects of multilateral international negotiations at the United Nations. The aim of the work is to describe and compare the cultural dimension of sample of cultures at the UN: Czech, Italian and Swedish culture. Thesis is divided into four chapters. First chapter is theoretical and describes the most important basis for research on cultural dimensions. Second chapter briefly presents the entire UN organization and then focuses on its headquarters in Vienna. Emphasis is placed on the third and fourth chapter. Third chapter characterizes the national cultures from the perspective of cultural dimensions of Geert Hofstede and Fons Trompenaars. Fourth chapter is purely practical. It consists of conclusions of the in-depth interviews conducted with employees of the Permanent Missions to the United Nations. The content of interviews follows the structure of cultural dimensions of Hofstede and Trompenaars and places questions into the working environment of the Permanent Missions to the UN. These findings are at the end of the work compared with the approaches defined by the third chapter.
Czech-Indian and Indian-Czech cultural standards in the workplace

Nowadays, most of the countries in the world are getting more and more dependent on each other, both politically and economically. Along with that, cultural clash comes inevitably influencing are private lives and working environment. Multinational companies get the opportunity of using the potential of diverse cultural environment which is challenging the managers, and other employees, to increase their competencies. The goal of this thesis is to identify the Indian cultural standards from the Czech point of view and the Czech ones from the Indian point of view. The theory of the thesis is based on cultural models by Geert Hofstede and Fons Trompenaars. The cultural standards are being identified by using the method of critical incidents where the selected respondents are being interviewed. The thesis analyses at which aspects the two examined cultures differ the most and how it influences the working environment and performance. The research results are compared to other theoretical models and the thesis provides recommendations on how to work with the identified standards in order to make the Indian-Czech cooperation as efficient as possible.

The subject of this thesis is to evaluate the corporate culture of UniCredit Group. The thesis also analyses the influence of Italian national culture on corporate culture of the UniCredit Group. The theoretical part describes the corporate culture, its determinants, typology and strategies used in international expansion. The practical part introduces the UniCredit Group, its history on the czech market and it also includes the evaluation of the corporate culture. In the end, there is an analysis of Italian national culture being one of the determinants of the UniCredit Groups corporate culture.
Internal Communication in an International Company

This thesis deals with internal communication in Doosan Bobcat Manufacturing Ltd. The main goal of this work is to analyze the current situation of internal communication with regard to its corporate culture, to highlight drawbacks and suggest possible solutions for improvements. There are basic concepts as a national culture, corporate culture and an internal communication in the theoretical part. This is essential for the analytical part. The practical part is based on a survey run in the company -- both quantitative and qualitative research. I offer recommendations for improving present situation based on respondents' answers and interviews with top management in the conclusion.
European mobility of students in Erasmus programme with intercultural focus

The diploma thesis is focused on the cultural patterns and motives the Czech and Belgian students are influenced by when selecting a country for their Erasmus+ exchange study programme. Further, a development of students' soft skills after the exchange programme as well as their attitude to further international mobility is analyzed. After a realisation of primary and secondary research, a relationship was revealed between the individualism dimension of selected countries and students' home country, confirming the hypothesis that the Czech and Belgian students choose more individualistic countries. Further, there was proven a positive correlation in terms of the development of a student's skills. Also, the students tend to be more mobile within Europe as well as worldwide. In the end, the benefits of Erasmus+ exchange study programme are discussed and suggestions aimed to the representatives of department of the foreign affairs proposed.
Proces adaptace českých občanů v cizích zemích

This bachelor thesis concerns with theory of adaptation of individuals who live in different cultural environment. The attention is particularly concentrated to ability of Czech people communicate, work and live in Republic of Indonesia, mainly in island Bali. Theoretical part is based on knowledge from intercultural psychology and interkultural communication. There are explained underlying terms, which are connected with futher mentioned theories, for example: culture, nation, ethnocentrism, stereotypes, cultural shock, acculturation or adaptation. There is also intepreted Geert Hofstede's cultural dimensions theory. According this theory is compared czech national culture with indonesian national culture and mentioned their common similarities and differencies. The main attention is paid to models of acculturation and theories of adaptation. In the practical part bachelor thesis are interpreted results from interviews and questionnaires with Czech people, who live in part of Indonesia namely in Bali. These questionnaires were made by the model od CCAI (Cross-Cultural Adaptability Inventory). Interviews and questionnaires inform how Czech people perceive indonesian culture and if they are able to operate effictively in this foreign milieu.
