Motivational Factors Influencing the Education of Seniors

This rigorous thesis is entitled: Motivational factors influencing the education of seniors. The aim of the rigorous thesis is based on the literature to describe and analyse the field of old age in the context of the timeline of senior age with an emphasis on the education of seniors, didactic aspects of gerontagogy. The work is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. The theoretical part defines the issue of old age from a multidisciplinary perspective. Furthermore, there is a section on lifelong learning (education) dealing with the education of seniors, followed by a section devoted to didactic aspects in senior education. The conclusion of the theoretical part focuses on the specifics occurring in the education of seniors. The empirical part of this work is based on a combination of quantitative and qualitative methodology. A questionnaire survey was used as a tool for data collection. The aim of empirical research is to map the factors influencing the education of seniors in the city of Jihlava and to formulate conclusions and recommendations for the monitored area of education of seniors. Educational and activating activities of seniors in long-term care facilities in the Pilsen Region

Diploma thesis "Educational and activating activities of seniors in long-term care facilities in the Pilsen Region" in the theoretical part is devoted to the definition of old age and related aspects from the biological, psychological and social point of view. The thesis also deals with education and activation of seniors in the context of applied science discipline and organization in the Czech Republic within the framework of lifelong learning. Aspects of educational activities of seniors and specifics of their education and activation are also identified. The thesis also describes the best-known methods and techniques of seniors activation in long-term care facilities. In the empirical part, a questionnaire survey was carried out, in which the respondents were clients of retirement homes and patients of specialized hospital wards providing care to geriatric patients. At the same time, standardized interviews were conducted with workers who organize, secure or participate in activities focused on education and activation of their clients or patients. Possibilities of development of adult education in Czech Republic using foreign experience

The aim of the thesis is to explore and describe adult education as an integral part of lifelong learning in relation to the development stages of human life. Particular emphasis is placed on the 3rd stage of life, the senior age. The defined area is solved with a wider historical, geographical and demographic context. The author also deals with the analysis of the global and especially European demographic development with a special focus on the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany. Especially the current changes in the age structure of the population and the consequences of this development on the educational system. In the end, recommendations and suggestions are formulated on how to respond to ongoing demographic changes and how to prepare for an aging society from the point of view of education.
Analysis of educational needs of the elderly focused on their motivation

The diploma thesis analyses education needs of senior citizens in one chosen geographical region, with emphasis on their motivation for further education. This bachelor thesis is focused on participation of the elderly in the context of demographical ageing. The area of interest is introduced in the first part - ageing and old age, elderly education, demographical ageing, functions and significances of elderly education and educational institutions. This part is based on Czech and foreign professional literature and documents. The second part contains data concerning participation of the elderly in educational activities and an empirical survey. Senior's Education and social mobilization in social facilities

The thesis is focused on Education and motivating seniors in social institutions and it aims to map the possibilities of education for older people. First the theoretical part deals with the current theme of aging, attitudes of the society to the elderly people and also a range of institutional education for seniors. It also points to the fact that the loss of self-sufficiency and social placement into a residential facility must not forcibly terminate social human activity. The author describes the possible pitfalls of seniors' position in the constitutional device, the phase of adaptation and education. Second the practical part compares the qualitative conditions, features of educational work and the satisfaction of seniors with activation - educational programs in various types of residential facilities. The important finding is that a proportionately larger capacity of facilities in increasing the range of educational programs and the satisfaction of educators with creative work. Most of the interviewed seniors are satisfied with educational programs and particularly welcomes a common form of education, aimed at the enhancement of cognitive functions.
Specifics of Language Education of Senior Citizen Education

The bachelor thesis Specifics of Language Education of Senior Citizen Education is based on specific conditions at foreign-language education of elder people. Thesis is divided into two parts- theoretical and practical. In theoretical part is defined gerontology (discipline focusing on education of elder people). Next chapter of theoretical part is aimed on specifics of education of elderly, especially foreign language education. There is described which conditions are suitable, what can influence them and which barriers can be there. In the end of theoretical part are possibilities of education fo elder people. In practical part of thesis was made an analysis of foreign language courses in Prague (except Universities of the Third Age). Based on this analysis was survey among elder people studying languages. The survey has found out conditions of education, elder people's motivation and reasons for studying. They could also write down proposals to make course better.
