Usage of interdisciplinary relations of geography and historiography in teaching of the local region (using Jáchymov as an example)
Klíčová slova Mezipředmětové vztahy, místní region, zeměpis, geografie, dějepis, Jáchymov, pracovní tábory Abstract This Bachelor thesis is devoted to interdisciplinary relations of geography and historiography in teaching of the local region in secondary schools and grammar schools. The subchapters of the selected unit, in which an application of mathematical skills can be found, are defined in detail and specified on the basis of the carried analysis. Deep, semi-structured interviews were conducted with the teachers at selected grammar schools for the purpose of the study of the implemented curriculum. The achieved curriculum was found out on the basis of the...

Smetanová, Daniela ; Říchová, Blanka (advisor) ; Masopustová, Ilona (referee)
This Bachelor's thesis "Religion segmentation in Northern Ireland, 1861-2001" examines the evolution of the representation of religious communities of Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland. Protestants mostly came to Ulster during the Ulster plantation in the early 17th century from England and Scotland. They brought a different culture, way of life and religion to Catholic Ireland. The basis of the conflict in Northern Ireland is a distinct religion that blends into political life. Groups of Catholics and Protestants stand opposite, Catholics try to unify with the Republic of Ireland (Nationalists) and Protestants protect the current situation, a union with Great Britain (Unionists). This paper examines the geographic aspect of the religious composition of the population in counties Antrim, Down, Londonderry/Derry, Tyrone, Armagh and Fermanagh since 1861, when Ireland was part of Great Britain and continues through the division of the island into the southern and northern parts and the culmination of the conflict in Northern Ireland, until 2001 when the situation in Ulster began to stabilize thanks to the Good Friday Agreement in 1998. The principal objectives of research are to identify factors influencing the distribution of religious groups and the influence of each phase on the...

This is inscribed to a closer approach of methodology of research work and collected data. Russia's Pivot to Asia: prospects and limits
Čechová, Barbora ; Romancov, Michael (advisor) ; Kofroň, Jan (referee)
Russia's pivot to Asia has become one of the highly discussed topics among political and international relations theorists. However, diverse opinions exist on the timeframe of the pivot and on the level of favourable results of the new policies of Russia's turn to the East. Mostly, Russia is thought to be intensifying its relations with countries of the Asia-Pacific region, increasingly since the Western trade sanctions were applied on Russia after the 2014 Ukraine crisis. Academic discussion also revolves around Russia's opportunities and challenges in the region. Progressive cooperation, mainly with China, is suggested due to the growing importance of Asia and its countries: China's rapidly rising economy and military strength has made the country into a candidate for the most important world powers. On the other hand, development and modernisation of Siberia and Russia's Far East region would be necessary for efficient maintenance of any progressive relations with Asian countries. Russia would have to develop its infrastructure in the regions to enable connection and cooperation with China and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Among all potential partners in Asia, China is mostly indicated as the most probable and suitable economic and political partner for Russia in the region....

Medková, Eva ; Marada, Miroslav (advisor) ; Matějček, Tomáš (referee)
Medková, E. (2012): Constructivism in geography education. Department of Social Geography and Regional Development, Charles University in Prague. Experiment was realized in the Primary school in two parallel 7th grade classes. There were two geographical topics tought - monsoons and the development of the Asian states. The development of the Asian states topic was tought transmissively in one class and in a constructivist manner in the second class. As a second step the other topic of monsoons was tought and the teaching method in the classes was interchanged. The efficiency of the teaching was determined by the help of the didactic test and then statistically evaluated.
