Development of the Approach to Social Exclusion from the Point of View of Publications Intended for Social Work
SEVELKOVÁ, Eva
This bachelor thesis has set two goals. The first of them is to map the presentation of socially disadvantaged people from the point of view of publications intended for social work. The second goal is to map the recommended approaches to social work with socially disadvantaged people from the perspective of publications intended for social work. In order to achieve the set goals, a qualitative research strategy and a method of document analysis were chosen. For data processing, a categorical system was used. The research has found that socially disadvantaged people are presented in a very diverse way in the analyzed publications, which reflects the reality of a wide range of clients for whom social work services are intended. Books have often included attributes that may be inherent in people who are affected by social exclusion or at risk of it. By contrast, features related to the process of social exclusion on the part of society were often neglected. From this predominance of attributes on the part of individuals, the reader may get the false impression that social exclusion is mostly a matter of individual inadequacy or a certain personal handicap, and that the role of society in the process of social exclusion (or excluding) is not crucial. The definition of recommended approaches to social work with socially disadvantaged people is understood differently across publications. It is important, however, that in most of the analyzed books these approaches were listed, and in some cases even specified in more detail, which means that familiarity with approaches to social work with socially disadvantaged people is essential for appropriate and professional practice of this profession.

The diploma thesis deals with the distinction of attributive and predicative adjectives in contemporary Czech. Although this distinction is very important for defining adjectives as a word class in many languages, there was only little attention paid to it in Czech so far. This thesis is based on the work of František Čermák Lexikon a sémantika (2010). The first part contains theoretical description of predicative and attributive function of adjectives. It is based on information contained in czech and foreign grammarbooks, handbooks or research papers. The goal is to summarize these separate information. The theoretical part deals with the basic characteristic of both types of adjectives, it focuses also on description of their semantics, word form and valency, which depends on it. This part contains definitions of some questionable points or inaccuracies of these descriptions too. The second part of this thesis is given to corpus research. The questionable points or inaccuracies of the descriptions defined in the first part of this thesis are examined on the material of Czech national corpus, concretely the corpus SYN2010....

Haiklová, Markéta ; Jirsa, Jakub (advisor) ; Hill, James (referee)
This paper consists of more parts. Firstly, it includes a theoretical introduction on Spinoza's concept of substance, substantial attributes and modes of extension and thought. The theoretical introduction serves as a background for the following examination of human nature in Spinoza's Ethics. In the chapters concerning human nature, which are introduced by chapters on intellect, imagination, memory and three different kinds of knowledge, our idea of "double nature" is presented. This characteristic of nature is deductible from the concept of adequate and inadequate knowledge and it becomes a presupposition for our further interpretation, which deals with the problem of parallelism/dualism of modes of extension and thought. This topic is treated in part V of Ethics where also the question of destruction of human body and the eternal part of mind is discussed.
