Processing of Haptic model of fresco of Pieta and Madonna for visually impaired people

The theoretical and practical diploma thesis deals with the Gothic style in the theoretical part, first from the perspective of the medieval society in three basic roles. In the first chapture there is a description of several contexts of the development of society through the spiritual, knightly and peasant class trought the general foundations of the Gothic style in the level of socio-cultural progression are sought. The work focuses mainly on painting and representation of Virgin Mary with Jesus. In connection to the practical part of the thesis there is also provided the necessary information concerning the ergonomic criteria of haptic aids for visually impaired persons and the location of the original fresco.The purpose of the practical part of the thesis is to transform the mural painting on the wall of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary on the Piarist Square in České Budějovice into a 3-dimensional haptic aid for visually impaired people. The mid-relief models are made of ceramic casting material using plaster molds. The base is a colored attached polychromized woodboard.

Double monasteries of Poor Clares and Friars Minor in the area of Central Europe in 13th century. Typology of architecture, foundation of royal princesses and contemporary context on the examples of monasteries, especially in Prague and Wroclaw. The topic of my bachelor thesis is a comparison of the typology of architecture of double monasteries of Poor Clares and Friars minor. The specifics of the Convent of the Sisters of the Poor Clares had to adapt to the strict order and liturgical regulations of the order, which was reflected in building architecture according to a certain pattern, manifested in the form of monastic churches including emporium, cloister and common areas, separated from contact with the outside world. However, this did not prevent the increasing of the education of the sisters and the maintenance of ties between the individual monasteries. Friars minor provided spiritual guidance for the sisters. Franciscans originated in the 13th century as an order that responds to the development of medieval cities and the wide social layers of inhabitants, which is reflected in the location of monasteries near rivers and walls (hospital function, water availability). This Master Thesis "The animals in the cathedral. Architectural sculpture of animals and fantastical creatures by parlerian lodge in the St. Vitus Cathedral, their symbols and iconography" looks into the architectural sculpture of animal's motifs and motifs of fantastical Creatures. The goal of this work is to summarize recent aspects of research about this theme, explain in more detail individually motifs of animal's and their Iconography and their meaning for Cathedral of St. Vitus. Also this thesis want to explain how could this special animal's motifs fit into the places, where are they have been situated. Their Iconography is taken with larger perspective, by literature's reception from antique over czech medieval age. Concerning animals and fantastic Creatures in the southern vestibule - pelican and phoenix; an owl in the Crown Chamber; gryphon and fight between cat and dog in the inner triforium; an eagle, an unicorn, a horse with bird's legs, a phoenix, a pelican, a stag, a lion, a gryphon, a lioness, a bear, a "cat" and three chimera in the outer triforium; a lion, a dog, a dragon and an eagle in buttresses and at least a dragon and a goat on the Big Tower. The thesis entitled Sacred space in the era of Gothic thinking, art and architecture deals with a certain specification of the sacred space, the function and meaning of the medieval church, events leading to the beginnings of Gothic art which left its imprint on the general medieval art and whose influence radiates from the 12th century and ends in the 15th century An essential part of the text is dedicated to using the given rules in the sacred space of the castle Karlstein.

The Concept of Beautiful Style and its Use in Czech Literature of Art History

The work deals with the concept of beautiful style and its use in Czech literature of art history. Jaromír Pečírka introduced the term known from German professional literature to the Czech environment in the 1930s in relation to sculpture. It was applied to the history of Gothic painting by Antonín Matějček. After a short turnaround, associated with the name of Pavel Kropáček, the tradition of using the term was renewed by Jaroslav Pešina, who created a concept valid and recognized to this day. In relation to sculpture, Albert Kutal and his successor Jaromír Homolka had a similar role. The Czech specificity is the application of the term in relation to architecture, which was dealt with mainly by Dobroslav Líbal. Among the younger researchers, the work of Milena Bartlová, Jan Royt, Jan Klípa and Michaela Ottová is followed. The work follows individual concepts and their changes.

This master thesis deals with the history of Kladruby's monastery, about it's establishment and development during centuries. Further, it deals with the change of lifestyle in the monastery, as well as outside of it. This thesis highlights the outstanding architectural beauty of the Baroque Gothic style of Czech architects Jan Blažej Santini Aichel and Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer.

Gargoyles of the European cathedrals, their origin, and their meaning

The bachelor thesis deals with the origin and meaning of gargoyles as well as traditional mythology, where it explores the sources of inspiration for their creation. The work presents examples of the European steel cathedral builders' works, by means of which they describe the way of creation and creation of gargoyles in the environment of the stoneworks. It also looks at the history of gargoyles in architecture, taking into account their symbolic meaning as part of the Gothic cathedral. The practical part refers to the theme of the work, which follows the aesthetics and function of the original gargoyles. The work is made in 1: 3 scale, using clay modeling and subsequent firing. The thesis contains complete photo documentation related to theoretical and practical parts and sketch material.

The church of Saint Martin in Bernartice. Its building history and typology.

The church of St Martin in Bernartice in South Bohemia is one of the oldest buildings in the area. Despite the assumption that the origins of the church lies in the activity of Milevsko workshop, attempts to determine the time of its construction more accurately have so far been unsuccessful. The aim of this bachelor thesis is presenting a detailed description of the construction history and analysing the architectural elements in order to confirm the Milevsko workshop's activity in the construction process. Bachelor thesis an attempt to place the building into a broader context within typology and style in.
