Dostoevsky in psychobiographical approach

This theoretical thesis tries to make a comprehensive view of the personality of Dostoevsky by using principles of psychobiography. First part of the work introduces main psychobiographical book written by William T. Schultz et al. and some others fields focused on psychology of art or artists. Biography of Dostoevsky as the initial material we analyze is also necessary part of the work. Freud's work about Dostoevsky that emphasizes parricide as a key theme of Dostoevsky's final novel and gives it into connection with his life and his relationship with father is starting point of analysis of Dostoevsky's life. Opinions of literary scientists and others experts and also thorough analysis of "Brothers Karamazov" are added to the interpretation of Freud's essay.

Dialogue with Dostoyevsky in works by Egon Hostovsky

This final thesis deals with the important work of Czech author of psychological prose Egon Hostovsky and influences on him, which seemed in his literary work. The aim of this thesis is to determine to what extent Hostovský inspired other authors, especially its greatest literary icons F.M. Dostojevsky. To achieve the objective has been selected method based on a comprehensive analysis Hostovsky's the most significant books in terms of literary theory and history. The focus was placed mainly on his early works, where the influence of Dostoyevsky is most marked. This thesis gives a comprehensive comparison Hostovsky's creation with the work of Dostoyevsky, focusing on formal and semantic aspects of literary works of both authors. The first chapter focuses on the specifics of Hostovsky formation and is divided into six sections, each deals with one literary-theoretical aspect, so it consists language means, space- time, description of the characters, narratives and central themes and motifs. To the conclusion of this chapter is attached feedback of Hostovsky's work in our country and in the world. The second chapter is devoted to effects influencing Hostovsky's poetics, where it is mentioned mainly influence of F. Kafka, S. Freud and L. Andrejev. Russian Exile and Inner Emigration - an Irregular History of a Cultural Phenomenon.

In my dissertation "Russian Exile and Inner Emigration An Irregular History of a Cultural Phenomenon" I attempt to examine the issue of the Russian mentality against the background of Russian literary and intellectual trends over the course of one hundred years - from the December Revolt in 1825 to the period after the October Revolution in 1917. The phenomenon of inner emigration and exile, which is characteristic for this period of time, is examined through the use of authentic sources, that is solely literary and epistolary records, as well as through the Czech reflection of the Russian soul, as it was perceived and presented from the time of Masaryk and Slavík and after them by many Czech and foreign scholars up to the present. Examining authentic testimonies, the aim of the work is to make the point that despite the confrontation with European rationalist influences, the Russian world and the so- called Russian soul essentially always retained a spiritual dimension from the Eastern civilizations, based not on rationality but on sensation, not on scholastic argumentation of the external existence of God but on a realization of the unity and the inner interconnection of the material and spiritual world.

Dream about the Paradise on Earth in the Work of Dostojevskij

The dream about an earthly paradise, rediscovery of an original, absolutely harmonic paradisal life is, in Dostoevskij's opinion, one of the deepest and the most valuable dreams of the human heart. The spiritual course of any human being has its own history, it is born from thesis (babtism), goes through antithesis (crises) and finishes in synthesis (beauty). A man comes from the Eden Paradise and aims at heaven. So, a man in course of his spiritual life is in a real split into two paradises: the Eden Paradise from which he is coming from and the Kingdom of God where he is aiming at. The midpoint of the life course is accompanied by a crisis, that can also be described as separation from the the paradise. The characters of novels by Dostoevskij failed due to the fact, that they were not able to admit their presence between two "paradise states" and so their ideas about earthly paradise establishment were being corrupted. In our piece of work we are going to follow four trends: 1. Time corruption, incorrectly understood sense of history. Manipulation in Literature

The theme of this diploma thesis is the manipulation in literature as a dialog between the I and the You or the I and the It. This I has a different position in each of the two types of manipulation. In the first type the I is the subject of manipulation - that is a manipulator. In the second one the I becomes the object of manipulation - thus a victim of a manipulator because the power over the I has been overtaken by other character's consciousness. The I and the You type is represented by an outside dialog (between characters), whereas the I and the It type is demonstrated in an inside dialog which does not occur between the hero and another character but between the hero and a voice of other character's consciousness. The opening part which deals with the manipulation in different contexts (philosophical, political and psychological) is followed by a part where I interpret the manipulation's representation in literature, especially in the works of Dostojevskij (The Double, The Village of Stepanchikovo, Notes from Underground, The Eternal Husband). With the characters of this author we can view the dark side of the human mind and also have a close look at various forms of arbitrariness, especially at the manipulation with the others.

The concept of revolution in the work of N.A. Berdyaev

This thesis is focused on a concept of revolution in writings of Russian philosopher Nikolai Berdyaev. It starts with general characteristics of a philosopher's works and special attention is given to the style of his writing. Main objective of the thesis is a description of Berdyaev's relation to the term revolution itself, which is given from philosophical, sociological and his- toriosophical perspective, as well as putting his notion of revolution into the context of histor- ical events that has occurred during the first quarter of 20th century in Russia. Thesis draws on Berdyaev's articles that appeared in these collections of papers: The Problems of Idealism (Problemy idealizma), Signposts (Vekhi), De profundis (Iz glubiny) and on his works: The Spir- itual Crisis of the Intelligentsia, The Philosophy of Inequality, The Spiritual Origins of Russian Revolution.

This bachelor thesis deals with the last novel by Dostoyevsky The Brothers Karamazov and the film based on the book directed by a screenwriter Petr Zelenka. The first part of this thesis deals with a comprehensive analysis of Dostoevsky's novel The Brothers Karamazov in terms of literary theory and history, the second part focuses on the issues of the film adaptation based on the novel The Brothers Karamazov, directed by Petr Zelenka. The aim of this thesis is to provide a comprehensive and integrated analysis of the novel The Brothers Karamazov. This thesis investigates, if ideas of Dostoevsky's works are currently up to date. Above all, this work deals with comparison of literary and film adaptations, focusing primarily on formal and semantic differences of these entities. The first chapter of this thesis deals with the genesis of the novel The Brothers Karamazov. In this section, a creation of the novel The Brothers Karamazov is placed in historical context and there are described the effects and circumstances that Dostoyevsky was influenced by in the course of writing this novel.
