Twitter as a source of journalistic work in selected online newspapers during the government crisis in May 2017

The bachelor thesis deals with an analysis of the use of information from the social networking service Twitter in the process of journalistic work. I study the employment of information from Twitter in news during the government crisis in May 2017. For the analysis, I chose three online news sites: Aktuálně.cz, iDnes.cz and iRozhlas.cz. The goal of this thesis is to find out to what extent and in which way was the information from Twitter involved in the coverage of the government crisis in the chosen news sites. Another goal is to analyse the selection of sources from Twitter. The research follows a method of quantitative content analysis, which allows us to describe an exact extent of the involvement of information from the social network in the analyzed content. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis characterizes the network digital media and describes the processes of digital mediamorphosis and convergence, which are related to the rise of the so-called new media. The theoretical part then introduces the social network site Twitter, its establishment and principles of its functioning, with a special focus on the role of Twitter as a source of journalistic work. Importance of video content on Czech news sites

The importance of video content in Czech internet news has been steadily rising for almost two decades, media houses are creating and expanding separate video-making departments and investing in equipment needed for their creations. News websites place considerable emphasis on the production of their own audiovisual content, which has become so common that the reader has come to expect it. The work brings a comprehensive description and evaluation of the video content of three major Czech news sites: iDnes.cz, Novinky.cz and Aktuálně.cz. It describes the processes, techniques and tools used in video journalism and gives an overview of the video production of these three news sites and insight into the relevance of video for Czech online news. The practical part draws on a case study of the selected websites, which focuses on the individual editorial environment and their common practice. It includes a quantitative content analysis that answers the research question: "What is the current form of video content on news sites iDnes.cz, Novinky.cz and Aktuálně.cz?" Roman Berbr's and Czech football referees case in chosen media

The thesis deals with the second vice-chairman of the Football asociation of the Czech Republic Roman Berbr and his wife, the then chairwoman of a referees's commission, Dagmar Damková case, which was started by Libor Kovařík's interview with the Czech daily Sport. Kovařík points out the situation between Czech football referees. This thesis aims to describe and analyze how the chosen media reflected and descibe this case. It will analyze the period of two months between 24th of August 2015 and 24th of October 2015. The beginnig of this period is clearly defined by Kovařík's interview, whose first part was published on the 24th of August. The thesis will analyze daily Sport that stood at the beggining of this case and on-line daily Aktuálně.cz, in which journalist Luděk Mádl known for his writing about corruption in czech football works.
The media Coverage of Iveta Bartošová's Death on Selected Websites

The aim of this paper is to describe media coverage of a suicide that Iveta Bartošová, famous Czech singer, committed the 29th April 2014 in railway in Prague-Uhříněves. It compares the so-called conservative press - Aktuálně.cz, Novinky.cz, Lidovky.cz and iDNES.cz - and the yellow press represented by Super.cz, Extra.cz and Blesk.cz. The paper covers a period of time from the suicide to the singer's funeral which took place the 12th May 2014 and it examines in what way and with what means all mentioned websites informed their readers, how many articles were published, what were the topics of each website or what mistakes (grammatical or any other) did they do. It looks for differences not only between the conservative and the yellow press, but in within those two groups of medias. It also describes if any conservative website went towards tabloidization which means if it used any practices of the yellow press in its work or if it was interested in similar topics as the yellow press was. The comparison of selected film reviews and users'comments in česko-slovenské filmové databáze

The bachelor thesis named "The comparison of selected film reviews and users' comments in Česko-Slovenská filmová databázeˮ deals with the analysis of the form of the current internet film review. First part of the thesis is devoted to the characteristic of the publicist genres of review and commentary, which are subsequently compared to the present. As representatives of internet media publishing film reviews were chosen three portals with different target groups, namely Aktuálně.cz, MovieZone and FFFILM. Selected reviews of these media are compared to users' comments in Česko-Slovenská filmová databáze, which currently has become key website for film fans. This thesis focuses on formal, content and stylistic differences between published texts and users' comments, but also compares portals publishing review in these aspects. Also, the review quality of each website and the advantage of opinion diversity in Česko-Slovenská filmová databáze are taken into consideration. According to these criteria, the conclusion of the thesis assesses the benefit of reviews and comments to readers and potential film viewers.
Comparative analysis of pictorial coverage of the olympic games in London 2012 in choses czech printed media and internet media

The thesis "Comparative Analysis of Pictorial coverage of the Olympic games in London 2012 in chosen printed media and internet media" deals with photographs published in MF DNES and on the Aktuálně.cz news server. The main focus is comparison of the photographs in the means of content, quantity and quality and to elucidate function of photo editors in media. In the first part the theoretical background necessary to understand this issue is presented - news values, gatekeeping, photography, photojournalism and mainly sport photography, photojournalism and ethics, difference between print and online media. The second part is the analysis. All the necessary information was gained using three approaches - quantitative content analysis, qualitative pictorial analysis and interviews with professionals. The quantitative analysis determines quantity and content of given photographs. The qualitative analysis refines the information regarding visual quality and content of the images. Interviews with employees of the selected media companies provide answers about choosing and editing the published photographs and explain the role of a gatekeeper. The thesis also verifies hypothesis that "online media prefer speed of publication over quality of photographs while printed newspapers prefer quality".
The moderation and regulation of discussion forums on the Czech news websites

With the so called Second internet era and the creation of Web 2.0, the amount of the internet users, who participate in creating its contect, has rapidly expanded. Open communication between the recipients and the producers of the media messages, and the wider possibilities to give a feedback as an online media reader are typical for this ongoing period. One of the ways, how to give a feedback, are the discussion forums below the articles. These discussion forums has changed in recent years and most of the Czech online media have started to moderate them or control them. The discussion forums are also not any longer anonymous. In this thesis, I am describing the discussion forums of the three most read Czech news websites - Novinky.cz, iDNES.cz and Aktuálně.cz. On the base of the analysis of the rules of a discussion and the interviews with the discussion administrators, I am describing, how many people in these media organizations work as the discussion administrators and how they moderate and control the posts. I am also dealing with the rules for the people, who want to také part in the discussion forums, whether they can be anonymous and if there are any specified rules, how to behave.
