Influence of a complex stretching exercise of lower limb on postural stability
Maier, Ludvík ; Žáková, Lenka (advisor) ; Vomáčková, Helena (referee)
Title: Influence of a complex stretching exercise of lower limb on postural stability Objectives:: The main objective of this diploma these is to find out, using dynamic computerized posturography, whether the increased mobility of the lower limbs has a positive influence on postural stability. Another partial objective is to determine efficiency of the practised stretching exercises. Methods: This is a pilot study where in research participated five probands whose measurement results were evaluated qualitatively. The aged of probands at the time of the first measurement was from 13 to 18 years. All probands are male volleyball league players and during the last two years occurred to a marked grow by all of them. Given their tall stature, it was expected a decrease in the mobility of the lower limbs and muscle shortening. To the data acquisition was used clinical examination of active range of motion and shortened muscle testing according to Janda. Postural stability was measured using computerized dynamic posturography SMART EquiTest System from Neurocom. Measured data were processed using the program NeuroCom Balance Manager software. In the Framework of study were conducted two intrumental measurements in the range of two months. After the first measurement all probands were instructed how to...
Social environment of transforming Karlín
Korytářová, Jana ; Ouředníček, Martin (advisor) ; Ptáček, Pavel (referee)
The main objektive of my thesis is a knowledge of social environment of prague district Karlín, one of the most dynamic part of inner Prague, which is undergoing a transformation of a physical, funcional and social structure. The concept of social environment is used in this work, whereby the social environment is consisted of a social structure and a social climate of a locality. By an analyse of the social, physical and funcional structure and a research of daily rhythms it tries to identify main pacemakers, to deeply learn about proceses and key moments during the day, which structurated the locality, and to capture social groups of users of the locality. The research is focused on three selected basic administrative units: 'Karlín - západ', 'Rohanský ostrov' and 'Za Invalidovnou'. Each of these localities has its own daily rhythm, which is structurated by the resident population and the temporarily present population, and different social environments, which influence each other, are dependent on each other and create the whole character of the prague district Karlín.The work tries to deepen and criticaly evaluate a current metodology. Keywords Karlín, Prague, social environment, social climate, social structure, daily rhythm, pacemaker, locality, mobility, time geography.
The impact of collective action in controlling migratory flows : understanding migratory flows within the European Union
Bernard Thompson Mikes, Antonin ; Raška, Francis (advisor) ; Mokrá, Lucia (referee) ; Drbohlav, Dušan (referee)
This thesis entitled "Impact of Collective Action in Controlling Migratory Flows: Understanding Migratory Flows within the European Union" analyses the various factors which impact upon migration decision-making and remigration potential among Slovak migrants who entered the Czech Republic after the country acceded to the European Union. The thesis utilizes a meta- theoretical approach which provides wide latitude for the inclusion of theoretical approaches which transcend disciplinary boundaries. Through a discussion of various policy approaches the work demonstrates that attempts to limit flows via legislative changes or the implementation of European Union directives has had little impact on aggregate flows in the specific case of the Czech Republic. Data from a survey conducted by the author is analysed and discussed from various perspectives in the form of a descriptive case study. The case study determines that employment, personal choice and family reunification are significant rationales for mobility related decision making and that long term settlement among this particular group is likely to occur.
Steinbeck's People in Flight: An Analysis of the Transformative Forces of the Road Taken
Purkrábková, Petra ; Robbins, David Lee (advisor) ; Ulmanová, Hana (referee)
This thesis focuses on the theme of the journey and the changes that occur in the socio-historical context of the Great Depression as well as in John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath. The thesis is an expository piece on road literature, its features and how the chosen novel has earned its rightful place in the American oeuvre, specifically that of road literature. The thesis is separated into two major parts. The former part provides the reader with a socio- historical context of the Great Depression as well as a background on the historical patterns of the 'journey' in America and how these two aspects are interrelated in the context of this thesis. The latter part constitutes the analysis of John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath by including the authorial relationship to the novel and the many aspects of the novel as studied through the scope of road literature. This part is further expanded by a close-up analysis of the changes in identity of characters in The Grapes of Wrath. The primary focus is on the notion of change and how it is connected to the notion of the road, including how the human being stands between these notions and is transformed in the process. Keywords: change, mobility, flight, escape, John Steinbeck, The Grapes of Wrath, American Dream, hope, depression, 1930s, Great...
Testing of the mobility and dynamic ba lance of seniors
Bradáčová, Andrea ; Čakrt, Ondřej (advisor) ; Ptáková, Karolína (referee)
The theoretical part deals with problems of old age and aging and its impact on balance, mobility and walking alone. It summarizes the knowledge about execution, use and reference and other values of the Timed Up and Go, clinical test used in senior population mostly in testing mobility, walking, dynamic balance and risk of falling. The research part contains an experiment, where two groups of people - group of seniors aged 66 - 87 years and control group aged 43 - 60 years - were examined by the TUG test and its variant with a cognitive task. The results of this work show, that some seniors achieved a higher TUG score than healthy population of foreign studies. In a group of seniors TUG was able to distinguish different level of functional mobility and it's determinants. In combination with assessment of the quality of performance and cognitive task, which causes decrease of score and performance in the elderly, can serve as a fast and available screening functional status and mobility. Physiotherapy as part of multidisciplinary care for patients following a lung transplant operation
Benediktová, Květa ; Smolíková, Libuše (advisor) ; Maršáková, Kateřina (referee)
Title: Physiotherapy as part of multidisciplinary care for patients following a lung transplant operation Objective: To evaluate the mobility of patients in the first days after lung transplantation. To compare the quality of life according to Karnofsky index and Jones dyspnea index. To relate spirometric values FVC and FEV1 of patients in the period prior to lung transplantation with the values in the first year after lung transplantation. Check the link between the development of quality of life and development of spirometric values. Methods: It is a pilot study, which was attended by 18 probands (13 men and 5 women), aged between 14 and 68 years. The data were collected on regular intervals using questionnaires on quality of life (Karnofsky index and Jones dyspnea index) and spirometric examinations taking place at the Motol University Hospital. The data were statistically analyzed using MS EXCEL, mostly using correlations and pair T - test. Results: Results showed substantial changes in the level of significance of p <0,01 both in the development of the quality of life, and in the development of spirometric values compared during the first year after lung transplantation with values before the transpantion. Another important result was the negative effect of a prolonged stay at intensive care...
Migration and Mobility of the Subject Population in the Třeboň Dominion in the Second Half of the 17th and in the 18th Century
Paták, Josef ; Čechura, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Štaif, Jiří (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to examine and describe the migration of the subject population of the South Bohemian village of Dynín between 1661 and 1740. The analysis is based on a unique source, the 1661-1839 lists of subjects of the Třeboň dominion. The thesis uses the lists to restore lives of individual subjects. It compares the migration of the population in order to distinguish and describe five basic kinds of migration. The thesis aims to present the variability of migration. It suggests that migration and mobility of the subject population is a very complex topic that should not be simplified. The thesis examines the process of leaving the village and joining the army, which was particularly common in the 1730s. The work also compares the data provided by the lists of subjects with the information obtained from the parish and estate registers. Keywords Třeboň [dominion], Dynín, Lists of Subjects, Migration, Mobility, Subjects, Army
