World's leading economic powers and their energy dependence
Vomáčková, Anna ; Vošta, Milan (advisor) ; Machytka, Daniel (referee)
The main subject of this paper is the disparity between the regions of production and consumption of energy in the world resulting in energy dependence. In the first chapter, the author characterises existing energy resources and their allocation in the world, then defines the notion of energy dependence itself. In the following four chapters, the focus is made on the four world's leading economic powers -- European Union, United States, Japan and China. These chapters analyse the main features of energy production and consumption as well as the major oil, natural gas and coal trade flows to the treated economies. Using the data, the paper draws the rate of energy dependence or vulnerability of these economies.

The economic policy of recent U.S. presidents and their impact on transatlantic relations
Szotkowski, Marek ; Němcová, Ingeborg (advisor) ; Neumann, Pavel (referee)
The thesis focuses on changes in economic policy in the United States and on their external economic relations, with emphasis on transatlantic relations in the end of 20th and early 21st century. Against the backdrop of the most important domestic policy and foreign affairs in last two decades, it monitors and compares the economic and political realities of U.S. society while trying to capture significant changes in U.S. economic policy. It does so not only with basic macroeconomic indicators, fiscal and monetary policies, but also in conjunction with the traditionally problematic systems of social and health care. Internal developments are then put into the context of changes in the external relations of the United States with an emphasis on the economic side. On this count, the thesis focuses on transatlantic relations and the emerging strategic partnership between the U.S. and China. Hand, it does not leave even the processes of globalization, the economic crisis of 2007 - 2009, or the position of the U.S. dollar in the global economy.
Impacts of global financial crisis on the economies of USA, EU and Japan
Slosarčíková, Jana ; Stuchlíková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Antal, Jarolím (referee)
United States, European Union and Japan are the most important centers of the world economy. Each of them took a different path of economic development, each has different strengths and weaknesses and faces a number of specific problems. These problems are multiplied especially in times of an economic crisis and subsequent recession. This work, divided into four chapters, aims to theoretically and practically analyze the main causes and stages of the financial crisis, with emphasis on its development in three major economies. The first chapter, which deals with the theory of financial crises, is followed by the second one, where theoretical knowledge is applied to the development and course of the global financial crisis and provides an overview of specific short-term measures that the economies had to take in order to fight it. The third chapter analyzes the impact of the crisis on the basic macroeconomic indicators of the analyzed centers and the fourth one summarizes lessons that the economist and state representatives should learn from this experience.

The aim of my bachelor thesis is to compare approaches of energy policy implementations between the European Union and the United States. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter deals with the energy balance of both centers, with focus on the most significant factors influencing the energy policy making: composition, availability and supply of energy sources. In second and third part the analysis of energy and environmental policies of the United States and the European Union is given. The main objective of these two chapters is to examine the energy-policy priorities, energy legislation, the division of powers between the centre and states, as well as energy-policy instruments. In the last chapter approaches to the implementation of energy policies of both centers are compared. Here the focus is put on four main areas arising from the previous three chapters: primary energy sources and energetic mix, the degree of centralization, instruments of energy policy and promotion of the renewable energy sources.

Novotná, Jana ; Knotková, Vladimíra (advisor) ; Havlová, Radka (referee)
Already for several decades, the relations among the People's Republic of China, the United States of America and Taiwan are in a situation, which is hard to solve. The Taiwan Strait symbolizes a place, where whenever can break out a conflict between the United States and China. Chinese effort to take over Taiwan seems as the most assumed reason of the war, and in this case the USA would support Taiwan by force. The main aim of my work is an analysis of how important role plays the Taiwan question in relationships between China and the United States and how these relations are influenced by this problem. The Bachelor thesis is divided into four parts. The first chapter analyses economic relations between China and the United States. Next three are focused on political and strategic relations between the USA and China. The first two of these deals with the American and Chinese foreign policy. The last chapter analyses the problems of armed forces. The conclusion is focused on a summary of observed facts.
