Application of thermal analysis in physiological characterization of microorganisms
Kočiová, Silvia ; Obruča, Stanislav (referee) ; Sedláček, Petr (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the applicability of thermal analysis in the influence of stress factors on microorganisms. The main aim of the presented work was to design and implement a series of experiments to thest the usability of advanced methods of thermal analysis in the characterization of microorganisms. Two bacterial strains were used as model organisms: Cupriavidus necator H16 and its mutant strain Cupriavidus necator PHB-4, which differs in the ability to produce polyhydroxyalkanoates. The basic technique used thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), which was optimized and applied in the study of water transport, behavior and determination of intracellular water content with respect to the influence of the presence of intracellular PHB granules. The results of this method were subsequently supported by TEM photos.
Design of Turbine Housing for Diagonal Turbine Wheel
Grygařík, Václav ; Raffai, Peter (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis is focused on design of the turbine housing CAD model applicable for mixed flow turbine. It also deals with strength analysis of designed turbine housing. The aim of the thesis is to create a three-dimensional turbine housing model accompanied by drawings.
Thermal-Mechanical Analysis of the Cylinder of the Four-stroke Engine
Ptáček, Petr ; Raffai, Peter (referee) ; Dlugoš, Jozef (advisor)
This diploma thesis is focused on creating a finite element method model of a four-stroke engine with a purpose to determine an impact on cylinder bore distortion caused by several types of loading. Introduction of this work covers research of possibilities in modelling thermal-structural analysis of cylinder liner and verifications of the analysis results. An Ansys model was further created and cylinder liner radial deformation caused by head bolts tightening and thermal loading coming from combustion was determined. Finally, a whole engine working cycle was simulated with a gas pressure loading and its final impact on the total cylinder liner radial deformation was defined.
Determination of moisture content in electrical insulating materials
Šebesta, Petr ; Rozsívalová, Zdenka (referee) ; Frk, Martin (advisor)
This work is based on determination of moisture content in electrical insulating materials materials and ways to measure the moisture. In the theoretical section describes the methods of thermal analysis, and subsequently described in detail Thermogravimetry method, which is used in the measurement. Measurements are made using the Moisture Analyzer RADWAG 60 W/H connected with a PC, using a variety of samples from inorganic to organic. A great variety of samples was chosen because of demonstrations thermogravimetric methods and a better understanding of wetting and drying of different materials.
Calculation of temperature fields in induction machines
Horálek, Lukáš ; Dostál, Lukáš (referee) ; Janda, Marcel (advisor)
The issue of this thesis deals with the thermals electrical machines. Specifically, the calculation of temperature fields using the finite element method and analytical calculation of one of the machines with a replacement thermal circuit. Using Autodesk Inventor create a 3D model of the real electric machine and then in the ANSYS Workbench perform thermal analysis using finite element method. Next, perform analytical calculation of one part of the machine, namely the stator, using a simplified thermal replacement scheme. Also, we realize the measurement of temperature on the specific machine under various operating conditions, the calculations and measurements between them compared.
Calculation of the distribution of the temperature field in the induction machine
Formánek, Jakub ; Ondrůšek, Čestmír (referee) ; Janda, Marcel (advisor)
The issue of this bachelor‘s thesis is concerning about creating of 3D model of an real electric machine in software called Autodesk Inventor and ints following implementation to software called ANSYS Workbench which is used for simulation of thermal analysis by using finite element method. Results of each analysys will be compared with laboratory measuring on assigned asynchronous machine
Utilization of physico-chemical analysis in study on cellular water
Matejčíková, Eva ; Obruča, Stanislav (referee) ; Sedláček, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor´s thesis deals with the study of methods, available at the Faculty of Chemistry at Brno University of Technology, that can be used to determine physical and chemical properties of cell water. The main task of this work was to specify which of these methods are suitable to determine physical and chemical properties of water in the cell and the properties of water occuring close to the cell surface. Based on the background research the series of experiments were proposed and implemented. Subsequently, this work deals with the optimisation of methods that were defined as the applicable techniques to determine the properties of cell water.
Influece of secondary apparatuses on assembly box heating
Dobiáš, Pavel ; Ovsík, Jiří (referee) ; Bušov, Bohuslav (advisor)
This master's thesis deals with the temperature-rise of selected parts of the low-voltage switchgear. The theoretical part describes the physical principles and the basic mechanisms of heat transfer. The next part describes the possible effect of elevated temperature on the device inside the switchgear. The master's thesis is awarded by ABB Ltd., so another part is dedicated to MNS switchgear. The following part describes the permitted limit of temperature-rise of switchgear in accordance with IEC 61439-1. In the practical part is a calculation temperature-rise of selected part of switchgear based on IEC 60890. Model in SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation was created for the same part of the switchgear and thermal analysis was performed. The values of allowable temperature rise of individual parts are compared with the results obtained by calculations and simulations. In the last part is verified the possibility of calculating the temperature-rise in the EPLAN software.
Comparative performance of late stream inoculants in grey cast iron using thermal analysis
Chyla, Ondrej ; Bouška, Ondřej (referee) ; Roučka, Jaromír (advisor)
This diploma thesis in the theoretical part deals with classification of cast iron, problems of gray cast iron production, methods of inoculation and valuation of the gray iron quality by means of thermal analysis. The aim of practical part was to investigate effectiveness of inoculation of two different inoculants using thermal analysis. In terms of mechanical properties, hardness and ultimate tensile strength were measured. Metallographic specimen were evaluating by means of image analysis software.
Structural and morphological characterization of polyamide buckles
Kubíčková, Eva ; Poláček, Petr (referee) ; Bálková, Radka (advisor)
The work deals with structrural and morphological characterization of polyamide buckles used to fasten webbins. The buckles were produced in five different years, a few of those produced in 2000 and 2004 were broken. The aime is to determine the type of polyamide and the cause of fracture of the buckles during using. The buckles were characterized in terms of structure and composition by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy in a mode of attenuated total reflaction, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetry and X-ray diffraction. The buckles were made of polyamide 12. The broken buckles showed higher melting point, lower thermal stability and, in addition to modification it also contains modification, which is more fragile and probably represents the cause of fracture.
