Phrasal Idioms at Primary School

The thesis deals with students of the fourth and fifth grades of primary school. The subject of the research is their knowledge and understanding of selected phraseological units, namely weather lores and proverbs. In the theoretical part of the thesis the most important terms of phraseology as a linguistic discipline are defined. The characteristic of idioms is explained as well as their meaning. Various criteria according to which phraseologisms can be classified are presented. Furthermore, the thesis deals with possible variants and variations of phraseological units. Last but not least, the theoretical part of the thesis offers insight into the influence of the family environment and primary school on the child's knowledge of idioms. The practical part elaborates the research survey, which was carried out using a quantitative research method - a questionnaire. The questionnaire was preceded by an analysis of Czech language textbooks, which focused on the occurrence of idioms and ways of working with them. The survey form focuses on weather lore and proverbs and contains three different types of tasks. In the first one, students connect the beginnings and endings of idioms. In the second type of task, students complete unfinished idioms. In the last type of task, students are asked to explain...
Phrases in children's literature

The bachelor thesis examines the relationship between phraseology and children's literature. The main aim of this thesis is to show how phrases enrich literary texts and support the linguistic and emotional development of young readers. The thesis is structured in two main parts. The theoretical part begins with an overview of lexicology basics, continues with definitions of key concepts of phraseology and its history, and concludes with a discussion of children's literature, illuminating various aspects of its development and specifics. The practical part focuses on the analysis of phrases in six selected works for children and young people, and then illustrates how the occurrence and use of phrases evolves and adapts depending on the age of the text and the age of the addressees.

V práci jsou analyzována specifická jazyková témata jako výslovnost a idiomatické vazby. Cílem této práce je nabídnout možnosti, jak lze tuto komunikaci zefektivnit. Přináší bližší pohled na použití jazyka prostřednictvím poznatků získaných ve společnosti BMW UK.
Automatic Assignment of Student Projects in Python

This work focuses on automatic evaluation of student codes in Python programming language. Emphasis is placed primarily on feedback, to guide students in the correct Python code writing practices. In the practical part, the information obtained is used to design a system that alerts beginning programmers to errors and tries to teach them the right structures  in the form of python idioms. Further, the thesis describes individual parts of the system, its inputs and outputs. As a case study, the system was put  in place to support the teaching of the subject Scripting Languages  at the FIT VUT in Brno in the academic year 2017/2018. The thesis summarizes the experience of this deployment and evaluates the advantages and problems of the processed solution.
Italian idioms containing the names of body parts and their Czech equivalents

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to introduce Italian somatic idioms, ie those that contain the name of a body part. The work is divided into two parts. The first, theoretical part, presents the basic terminology, especially the definition of the terms "phrasal idiom" and "idiom", presents their properties, their internal structure and function. Furthermore, a brief historical and cultural insight into the topic is made and, last but not least, a comparison of the Czech and Italian conceptions of the issue is made. In the second part, the analysis of a selected sample of Italian somatic idioms is performed, the selected sample is analyzed in terms of formal, ie. according to the internal structure. However, the main task of the thesis is to indicate the possibilities in the translation of selected idioms and to present possible equivalents in the Czech language, including the introduction of various translation strategies. Furthermore, the possibilities of syntactic manipulation and internal transformation of idioms are also presented.
The translation and stylistic analysis of the novel The Racketeer by John Grisham

This BA thesis is focused on the translation of selected parts and stylistic analysis of John Grisham's novel The Racketeer. Special attention is paid to the differences which originate while translating from the English language to the Czech language. The theoretical analytical part is mainly concerned with lexical and stylistic aspects but it is also contains the translation of national specific features and various peculiarities of graphical equivalence.
Parts of the body in Finnish phraseological expressions

(in English) This Bachelor's thesis surveys selected Finnish phraseological expressions that contain the following names of parts of the body: käsi 'hand', pää 'head' and silmä 'eye'. The phraseological expressions were collected from two phraseological dictionaries and a Ph.D. thesis on Finnish idioms. The selected expressions in this Bachelor's thesis are classified as idioms. The thesis describes what type of structures the idioms take and what their meaning is. The theoretical part, firstly, comments on the development of the phraseological research in Finland, secondly, it introduces Finnish phraseological terminology and, thirdly, it gives the classification of idioms by M. Nenonen, which is applied in the practical part of the thesis. The practical part consists of a morfo-syntactic analysis on the idioms, which divides the idioms into verbal, non-verbal and other idioms, and of the description of their semantic and lexical features.
Religious phrasemes in Czech and Russian (based on corpora research)

In this bachelor thesis we are exploring phrases with religious motives in czech and russian languages. This thesis contains two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is focused on summarizing phraseology history as a linguistical discipline. Beside that, it contains a number of the phraseological and idiomatical classifications by the different criteria. The practical part analyses the phrases and idioms with Biblical, ancient and Slavic polytheism origins by its degree of the equivalence and relative frequency in the chosen language corporas (ČNK - SYN and RNK - publicistic and basic). Problems with using of the reflexive "себя" in studying Russian

This diploma thesis deals with the Russian reflexive pronoun «себя» in comparison with the Czech pronoun. The aim of this thesis is to compile a set of exercises for students of the Russian language in order to eliminate mistakes in connection with this topic. The thesis is divided into two parts - a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part is based on specialized (academical) literature. This part contains general characteristics and classifications of pronouns. It focuses on issues with the Russian reflexive pronoun and its Czech equivalents. It also includes a chapter about transfer and interference. The practical part proceeds from the theoretical part and from a questionnaire. The questionnaire was completed by the first-year students of the Faculty of Education. On the basis of its results, general conclusions and proposals of exercises for acquiring the topic are formulated and intended for students of the Russian language.
The biblical phraseology in the minds of Russian and Czech nation

This bachelor's thesis deals with biblical phraseological units in the context of Czech and Russian nation's awareness about them. By means of empirical probe it strives to examine the extent to which these units are in use nowadays, whether they are actual and comprehensible, in what sort of situations they are being used and if native speakers are familiar with their origin.
