The Malenovická sawmill, located on the busiest traffic artery in Zlín, is losing its function due to the harvesting of forests in the vicinity of the city. Right behind this place begins a street that is particularly important for Zlín – Tomáš Baťa Avenue. It is an essential urbanistic, compositional, visual, and orientational element of the city of Zlín. A walk through it is a journey through the construction history of this city. However, the character of this thoroughfare in this area is alien to the point of being unpleasant for pedestrians. At a time when Zlín suffers from a lack of housing, I think that densifying the city right on its most important artery can be an interesting and correct way to fill the empty space and give Tomáš Baťa Avenue a respectable start. I believe that living on the main street of the city can be very attractive for many and that it will help to give this space a human scale, life and refinement at the same time. The goal of my work thus becomes the densification of the city on the border between the city of Zlín and the outskirts of Malenovice, on the border between a busy class and a quiet cluster of family houses. This interface becomes the starting point for my design.

The aim of the thesis is to design a residential building that will stand the test of time not only by maintaining its form and function but also by creating a landmark on the line between Otrokovice and Zlín. The main theme of the design is therefore the longevity of the building. The proposed house is located on the outskirts of Zlín - Malenovice on a plot where a sawmill currently operates. The longevity of the building is achieved in three different dimensions - technical lifespan, economic lifespan, and in terms of lifestyle, fashion, and social situation. Key elements include a conservative building form and brick facades.

The subject of the bachelor thesis is the design of a residential building in the locality of Zlín - Malenovice on the site of Malenovická pila. The project includes an urban study of the entire area. The location of Malenovická pila is situated between a busy traffic artery and the development of solitary family houses. The urban design responds to both the strong and weak aspects of this location. The design of the residential building is primarily based on the principle of cross-ventilation, following the FCK technology. Significant emphasis was also placed on working with greenery and considering the proximity to the surrounding residential buildings. The result of the design is a set of four residential buildings with a total of 60 apartments.

The assignment of the final diploma thesis was the design of an urban structure of a multifunctional nature on the territory of a brownfield in Zlín – in a regional part Malenovice. The subject of the proposal was to react ingeniously to the surrounding context and at the same time to apply knowledge from the pre-diploma project, which analyzed the use of sustainable materials in housing construction. The assignment then smoothly transitioned into the specific design of one apartment building. The goal was to create pragmatic affordable housing that would reduce overall operating costs and create a quality indoor environment through the appropriate use of building materials and constructions. Finally, the work deals with urban, architectural, dispositional and construction solutions. It also offers several technical and constructional details of various scales. The assignment was specific in a certain way and there were several ways to deal with it. The proposed solution tries to open up a discussion about the appropriate filling of an empty lot and at the same time opens the topic of elementary dispositions and forms.

The diploma thesis deals with the design of a residential building in the area of Malenovice near Zlín, where a new residential complex is to be built on the land of the current Malenovice sawmill, situated in close proximity to a four-lane road. The concept of this proposal is based on a detailed examination of human cycles and their impact on people in everyday life in relation to architecture. From the life cycle through the annual cycle and especially the daily cycle, professionally referred to as the circadian rhythm. The building, with its idea concept, orientation to the cardinal points, zoning of the apartment and also the shape solution, responds to the needs of man in terms of light comfort and at the same time addresses the greatest efficiency of the technologies used precisely in relation to light comfort, the form solution also creates conditions at the terrace level for the meeting of a wide range of inhabitants of the house - creating diversity. It reduces the need to illuminate the space during the day with artificial lighting, and after dark it addresses artificial lighting with respect to human health, thus also reducing energy consumption.

The aim of the thesis was to create documentation for building permit and a part of building design documentation, based on architectural study prepared in subject named AG34 – Architectural Design Studio IV. Main content of the study was reconstruction of the former Zlín county court building and finding a new function for the object that is situated near Zlín castle, Míru square and Svobody park. Important was also underlining of the most impressive parts of the building that are baroque vaults in the ground floor and frontage from 1922 in the “Czech Modernism” style. Worrisome extension from the 1990’s got a lighter “Czech Modernism” expression, its scale was humanized using brickwork and a new terrace with a clear shot at the Zlín castle was created. The parterre is now friendlier and invites passers-by to visit the new micro-brewery. A literary café with a small gallery provides some cultural activities and also a bicycle rental is here to provide some physical activities too. Upper floors consist a pension and a hostel.
