Title: Comparison of school readiness levels of children from selected regular and speech and speech therapy kindergartens using the iSophi diagnostic tool Objectives: The main aim of this study is to compare the areas of school readiness accessed by the iSophi test battery in children from selected kindergartens, namely two regular kindergartens and two speech therapy kindergartens in Prague. Methods: A total of 40 children aged 5-7 years (20 from a regular kindergarten, 20 from a speech therapy kindergarten) underwent an assessment of school readiness using the iSophi tool. The iSophi tool, developed by the STEP Educational Psychological Consultancy in 2019, includes 13 areas, some of which are tested on the spot by the examiner (e.g., graphomotor skills, pre-mathematical ideas, time orientation, etc.) and others by the teacher based on long- term evaluation (e.g., self-care, gross motor skills, social understanding, etc.). Data processing is done using the My iSophi digital extension and has a graphical form (linear graphs for individual skills and pie chart for overall evaluation). A purpose-designed anamnestic questionnaire for the probands' parents and an evaluation survey for the teachers were used to obtain complements. Results: On average, children attending regular kindergarten achieved a...

Author: Bc. Kateřina Pařízková Title: Live-in Personal Assistance for Individuals with Quadriplegia Objectives: The aim of the thesis is to find out if the live-in assistance described below would be in demand by quadriplegics in the Czech Republic and if there would be social service workers who would be interested to do the work following the British model. The outcome of this work could help to improve the quality of care for people with quadriplegia and quality of their life. Methods: In the research section, a quantitative research analysis is conducted using two surveys of their own design, one for individuals with quadriplegia and another for social service workers. This information will help ascertain whether individuals with quadriplegia in the Czech Republic currently avail themselves of personal assistant services and whether they would be receptive to adopting the widely utilized British Live-in system. The results are supplemented with data from social workers in the Czech Republic who provided information about their interest in performing Live-in assistance through a questionnaire survey. Results: The first survey involved 284 respondents aged 18-65 years. Within this survey, it was found that social service workers liked the mentioned position of Live-in assistant. They positively...

Křelinová, Iveta ; Vařeková, Jitka (advisor) ; Pavlová, Ilona (referee)
Title: Influence of body composition on metabolic profile in people with spinal cord injury The aim: The aim of this study was to validate the positive relationship between the amount of free fat mass (FFM) and resting metabolic rate (RMR) in subjects with spinal cord lesions. Furthermore, RMR values measured by indirect calorimetry were compared with those predicted by the Harris-Benedict (H-B) equation. Methods: This quantitative research is based on the collaboration between the 3rd Internal Clinic of the 1st Faculty of Medicine, the VFN, the Paraple Centre, o.p.s. and the Faculty of Physical Therapy, Charles University in Prague. The research population consisted of 25 people with spinal cord lesions, clients of the Paraple Centre, 14 men and 11 women. The respondents underwent body composition measurements using the InBody S10 tetrapolar bioimpedance device and resting energy expenditure measurements determined by indirect calorimetry using the Cortex MetaLyzer 3B. The measured RMR values were further compared with the corresponding values calculated using the H-B equation. Data were presented using descriptive statistics methods. Microsoft Excel 2010 and Statistica 12 were used to record and analyze the data and graphs and summary tables were also created. Results: Compared with women, men...

Title: Ski course of children with mental disabilities Aim of thesis: To develop a set of individual preparatory exercises for training of downhill and cornering techniques in alpine skiing for children with mental retardation. The sub-objective was to test the mastery of individual elements of skiing skills and skiing technique in several children with mental retardation who had completed a ski course Method: This is a theoretical-empirical research. A set of preparatory exercises was tested on a cohort of four children with a diagnosis according to ICD-10in the range F70- 79. Mastery of the skills was assessed using a Likert scale (1-5). Children were observed performing specified, pre-explained and demonstrated skiing skills a total of three times (at the beginning, middle and end of the ski course). Results: A set of preparatory exercises was compiled and tested on a six-day ski course. It showed that children with intellectual disabilities ranging from mild to moderate mental retardation are able to learn and, with prior experience, improve their skiing skills. The child with severe mental retardation did not acquire the skills as he was unable to accept the ski equipment and therefore did not participate in the lessons. All three children who received lessons improved in most of their skiing...
