Genetic Algorithms and Scheduling
Škrabal, Ondřej ; Popela, Pavel (referee) ; Roupec, Jan (advisor)
This work deals with scheduling problem in particular plastic production service. The solution is based on heuristic algorithms, programming languages C + +, C # and is built on the .NET framework and LINQ to XML. It provides the users with comparisons of the heuristic approach with genetic algorithms applied to production problem. All methods results are compared in relation to hand-arranged plans.
Evidence and time consumption analysis of individual operations during moulding
Škrabal, Ondřej ; Šeda, Miloš (referee) ; Poliščuk, Radek (advisor)
This work deals with economical production problem in particular mechanical service. The solution is based on capture of barcode, C# programming language and database engine MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. It provides the user with real results of per hour cost analysis in given process and it also offers recommendations for increasing profit based on analysis of measured data.
Modality in Chinese Political Discourse: The Case of Speeches at the National Congress of the Communist Party of China (1946-2017)
Hartmann, Zdeněk ; Škrabal, Ondřej (advisor) ; Zádrapa, Lukáš (referee)
This paper provides a quantitative analysis of modality in the Reports on the Work of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (Zhōngguó Gòngchǎndǎng Zhōngyāng Wěiyuánhuì De Gōngzuò Bàogào) from 1945 to 2017 presented at the Party's national congresses. I operationalize modality as modal verbs and, following F. R. Palmer and Péng Lìzhén, chiefly focus on its three main functions (epistemic, deontic and dynamic). I interpret the predominance of deontic modality and the increase in its share over time in the context of Wú Guóguáng's argument about the Congress being a theatre through which power is legitimized, arguing that this reflects a gradual abandoning of charismatic ideology and a deepening institutionalization and identifying changes in editorial teams and the way texts are processed, which tend to accompany power shifts within the party, as the mechanism through which politics affects language.
Factors important for the victory in war in view of the Zuozhuan tradition
Palij, Tomáš ; Maršálek, Jakub (advisor) ; Škrabal, Ondřej (referee)
Annotation: Present thesis discusses factors which, in view of the Zuozhuan tradition 左傳, were important for victory in war. For this purpose I briefly describe Zuozhuan, summarize the different opinions of its creation and the place where it was originally produced and I also describe the ideas found within the text. The main part of the thesis presents a detailed analysis of selected translated passages of Zuozhuan that relate to the armed conflicts between the major domains of the Chunqiu era. On the basis of this analysis, which discusses mostly the speeches pronounced by Chunqiu era personalities, I describe the various factors which, in opinion of the authors of Zuozhuan, had an impact on the result of the battles and then consider these factors in context of an overall intellectual orientation of the text. In relation to the question of the creation of Zuozhuan, I point out to ethical and intellectual consistency or inconsistency which can be seen in the analysed passages.
Possible Applications of Quantitative Methods on Modern Chinese and Modern Chinese Texts
Mikulec, Petr ; Zádrapa, Lukáš (advisor) ; Škrabal, Ondřej (referee)
Research done using the methods of quantitative linguistics has been rather scarce in its application on Chinese so far. This thesis, therefore, focuses on chosen topics and tests various linguistic experiments on two stylistically different corpora written in modern Chinese, while emphasizing stylistic differences on respective places. First, a basic quantification of the two corpora is presented, including average lengths of selected language units, type-token ratio and, in addition, several Chinese-specific indices are introduced. The thesis further discusses frequency statistics of various language level as well as the frequency distribution of tones in both corpora. The following part is concerned with the Zipf's law, hence concluding the first set of topics. The last part deals with linear structures of a text, based primarily on the research done by Luděk Hřebíček. This section explores the idea of text symmetry, according to which a text is organized by the Menzerath-Altmann Law not only when it comes to relations between a construct and its constituents on all language levels, but also in its sequential form. Thus, the work offers an overview of the basic functioning of quantitative linguistics on the example of Chinese texts, emphasizing their specific processing. Key words: Quantitative...

The Image of History of the House of Zhou in the Shijing - between Historiography, Ritual, and Literature
Škrabal, Ondřej ; Lomová, Olga (advisor) ; Maršálek, Jakub (referee)
Since the most ancient of the Shijing songs were accompanying the rites of the ancestral sacrifice, which already by definition represented communication with the past, the notion of history is present in these hymns as well. In the latter half of the Western Zhou period, significant changes occurred in the ritual practice. These changes are evident in the shift of perspective in several Zhou song hymns, too. At the same time, the banquet odes appear for the first time on Zhou court. These odes already explicitly describe the glorious history of the house of Zhou, and so become the means of legitimacy of the weakening royal clan. History here also represents the pattern of the exemplary rule and the source of premonitory precedents. By the end of the Western Zhou dynasty, the notion of remote past becomes fully idealized.
The Shijing love songs - ways of interpretation
Škrabal, Ondřej ; Maršálek, Jakub (referee) ; Lomová, Olga (advisor)
The Shijing love songs always were, still are, and henceforth will be a target of sundry interpretations. Bachelor thesis uses the song Guan ju (Mao 1) to demonstrate how the exegesis of the same song may differ in the course of history. Thesis covers the period from first references to Shijing to modern era, but the major part focuses on the epoch between the end of Chunqiu and the fall of Han dynasty.
