The relationship between burnout and social support at school

This diploma thesis deals with the burnout syndrome in primary school teachers. The field of interest of this thesis is the relation between the burnout syndrome and the social support offered by individual schools. It primarily focuses on formal activities at schools that assist with the social support which works as a prevention of the burnout syndrome development. The submitted work consists of two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part defines the most important terms linked with the burnout syndrome. Primarily stress, one of the main causes of the burnout syndrome and its effect on the human health. Secondarily the burnout syndrome itself, the concept thereof, causes and symptoms and lastly its phases. In the next chapter, stress and the burnout syndrome in the teaching profession are described, followed by possibilities of their prevention. The last chapter of the theoretical part is then concerned with the specific formal activities for assistance with the professional social support. The results of research in two schools, chosen based on the different number of formal activities, are presented in the practical part. Class meeting at the primary school

The diploma thesis is focused on class meetings at the first level of primary school. It discusses how parents and teachers perceive these meetings, and what is needed to be prepared to organize the meeting. The theoretical part is based on literature and resources written about class meetings. Its aim was to map the current trends in the organization of class meetings with regard to effective cooperation between school and family. The empirical part presents the results of the questionnaire survey among teachers. Its aims to give inspiration and examples of good practice, to encourage particularly beginning teachers in organizing class meetings, to offer experience with this form of communication between school and family, and to gather ideas on how to manage class meetings. In the end, this diploma thesis brings and reflects a new experience with the class meeting held in electronic form.

Origin and developement of Scioschools

The Master's thesis deals with origin and development of ScioSchools. The theoretical part explains the key concepts. It points to the issues associated with the transformation in education in the world and in our country. Introduces the concepts of alternative, innovative and democratic school. It briefly characterizes the best-known representatives of these types of schools - schools of reform pedagogy, religious schools, modern alternative schools, democratic schools Summerhill and Sudbury Valley. It describes the establishment of ScioSchools, their gradual expansion and introduces the founders. It focuses on main characteristics of ScioSchools with the primary attention on pedagogical principles and values. It explains also the role of guides and the process of their recruitment. Last but not least, the theoretical part describes the cooperation and sharing in the school environment while introducing some of the methods applied. With the use of quantitative and qualitative research the empirical part analyses the collaboration and sharing among ScioSchools with regard to their gradual development. Role of an assistent at inclusive school

This diploma thesis deals with the role of an assistant at the moment of inclusion. It focuses on the position of teaching assistant, which is currently often performed by students from faculties of education. The aim of this thesis is to find out the motivation of students to practice this profession before taking up the role of class teacher at primary school. The thesis is divided into the theoretical part, where it deals with the concepts of assistance from history to the present. It describes pupils with special needs that the assistant should know and meet. The practical part is divided into two sections. In first one he describes interviews with students who perform the position of assistant teacher during their studies. With class teachers who worked as assistant teachers before taking up their role and with the school management, which is known for its cooperation with students. The practical part also describes personal experience with the role of assistance by the author of the work. The second section describes the analysis of the questionnaire survey for the course Assistant practice, in which each student of the teaching module encounters the role of assistant. School visiting as a form of collegial supporting of teachers AUTHOR

This diploma thesis deals with the possibilities of professional development of primary school teachers. The focus is on different forms of peer support for teachers, with an emphasis on inter-school observation as a natural way of practical development. There is also a collegial support project presented through the innovative program Step by step, which has been already implemented in many schools. The peer support project is presented in the empirical section, involving teachers from different types of schools who participated in inter-school observation visits. The pre-research was conducted through semi-structured interviews gathering information about the course expectations, followed by an experiment that was evaluated and analyzed during the recorded interviews. A dedicated website was also created providing a supporting environment for its users. Attitude of teachers and parents toward inclusive education at Step by Step program

The topic of this graduate thesis is the inclusive education programme Step by Step. More specifically, the work focuses on the attitude of the involved teachers and parents to this phenomenon. The theoretical bases are focused on the definition of the terminologically unclear terms of inclusion and integration, they outline their historical and legislative development as well as the overall intention and summarize the main components which influence its high-quality course. One part of the thesis also focuses on the characteristics of the participants and the base of this education, and also on the psychological aspects influencing the attitude of an individual. Last but not least, the work also deals with the programme Step by Step, with the summary of its inclusive principals and comparison of the publication: Kompetentní učitel 21. století: Mezinárodní profesní rámec kvality ISSA (2011) s dokumentem Profil inkluzivního učitele (Evropská agentura, 2012). Language skills development of pupils from language disadvantaged background realised in primary science education

Diploma thesis - Cyril Štěpán Abstract In the theoretical part of my thesis, I first aim to outline the particular language problems of children brought up in a socially disadvantaged background. I attempt to describe what actually is "social disadvantage" and what are its specifics. Moreover, I deal with the particularity of development of children in such background and with the imapact on communication skills of these children when they enter nursery or elementary school. In the second chapter of my thesis, I write about langugage and communication barriers of children with different mother tongue. I describe and explain the term "different mother tongue". Then I pursue the statistics on pupils foreigners in czech schools and their categorisation to discover the most represented foreign languages in czech schools. I furthermore describe these languages (Slavic language group and Vietnamese) and I point out those linguistic differences of these languages when compared to the czech language that are the most crucial ones in the process of learning czech. Quality forms of family and kindergarten cooperation

The thesis named Quality forms of family and kindergarten cooperation deals with the effectiveness leadership of tripartite meetings at a given kindergarten. The theoretical part summarizes subjects such as cooperation, communication, representation of coopration with the family in Framework Education Programme for pre-school and primary education or the portfolio. The practical part consists of the research carried out at a particular school that describes the tripartite leadership, mapping the effectiveness of tripartite meeting with the participation of the child and its portfolio, and at the very end offers further opportunities to engage the activities in tripartite meetings with the support of the portfolio.

The cooperation between family and school at the beginning of schooling in the Pelhřimov district

This diploma thesis deals with the current situation in the area of cooperation between family and school in the elementary schools of the current educational stream of the Pelhřimov district. The aim of the thesis is to bring basic information about the issue and to find out the degree of cooperation between the mentioned actors by parents, teachers in the Pelhřimov district.The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part is based on analysis of professional literature, clarifies the concept of communication, cooperation, pupil and teacher. The empirical part presents a research investigation, which was carried out at the first level of basic schools of the common educational stream in the Pelhřimov district among the parents of the first class pupils, among the teachers of these schools. Comparison of Family and Kindergarten's Cooperation in conception of main educational stream and of Step by Step

The author compares approaches to co-operation with the family as applied in mainstream kindergartens and alternative kindergartens with the Step by Step programme. The thesis aims to determine the extent to which the forms and intensity of communication and co-operation between family and kindergarten differ depending on the kindergarten's educational programme, and identify the strengths and weaknesses of mutual communication. In the theoretical section, the author outlines the importance of co-operation between family and kindergarten for the development of preschool children, the possible forms of such co-operation and the rules laid down by applicable legal regulations and curricular documents, and describes how this co- operation is understood in the Step by Step programme. In the empirical section, the author uses a mixed research strategy combining quantitative and qualitative research to answer the research questions. Data for the research were collected through a questionnaire survey, where the respondents included teachers and parents of children attending selected Prague-based mainstream kindergartens and kindergartens with the Step by Step programme.
