The responses in domestic politics to Hodza Plan 1935-1936

Abstract The thesis is about the reaction of Czechoslovak political scene to Milan Hodža's Danubian plan. Milan Hodža was Slovak Agrarian and economist who introduced his plan in the second half of 1935 at the time when he was Prime minister of Czechoslovakia. Author emerged from broader considerations of Czech and Czechoslovak ideas about economic and political developments in Central Europe, according to Palacký "space between Germany and Russia." In this context author accepts Palackys beliefs about the indispensability of the Danubian Hapsburg Empire as the counter imperialist expansion's bumper of both the continental powers and efforts of political parties Mladočeši and Staročeši who tried to reform and maintain the country. He also describes the interwar projects of Czechoslovak sovereign foreign policy, where Czechoslovaks tried to take on an inspirational leadership role of Central European economic and political cooperation which was based on Little Entente. Author of this thesis thinks that Hodža's Plan is just one of these projects. And as all the previous projects Hodža's plan had no opportunity to be implemented in the new internationally-political and internationally-economic context. Had Milan Hodža prepared his plan for economic and potentially political cooperation between Danube region countries from the national economy point of view? Did he start the wider discussion about the possibility of Danube region cooperation in Czechoslovakia? These are the basic questions that the author asks and he answers them in the last chapter of his work: Milan Hodža never made any concrete national economic statement for his plan. His attempt for the realization had never gone out of the diplomatic detection. Likewise he did not evoke any specific reaction of Czechoslovak political parties not even in party periodicals.

High-speed rail in the European Union and the analysis of Thalys

The thesis compares high-speed rail with other means of transport for the purpose to identify its main advantages and disadvantages. Furthermore, it determines the scope within which high-speed rail is fully competitive on the transport market. The position of high-speed rail in the European Union is also outlined further in the thesis. These findings are then used to thoroughly analyse the international high-speed system Thalys.

The aim of my Bachelor degree work is to point out to oxygen as a part of daily life of us -- humans, wine and to the various aspects of oxygen effects during various winemaking processes. In the process of fermentation at white wines and in the process of maturing at red wines. The oxygen has got important role in negative wine oxydation, which the wine maker strives to restrain. Further, it is good to know how to prevent negative oxygen effects and how to make use of possitive attributes of oxydation. The methods of oxygen determination in wine have been mentioned too, though they are not use in practise. On the other hand, oxygen is necessary during winemaking process of oxidative types of wines such as Tokay selections, Port wine and sherry.

Exploration of 9-Bromo[7]helicene Reactivity

Our new microwave assisted photodehydrocyclisation and completely reviewed synthetic approach for a multi-gram scale production of 9-bromo-[7]helicene led us to explore the reactivity of this compound mainly in Pd-catalysed reactions and to the further functionalization of this molecule. Next to other transformations, palladium catalysed carbon – heteroatom coupling reactions provide a large portfolio of racemic helicenes bearing different functional groups in good to excellent yields. Many of the reactions are performed in the microwave initiator saving reaction time to a minimum comparing with conventional and known synthetic methods. Such prepared compounds can undergo further synthetic reactions or can be used on a field of molecular electronics, surface chemistry or in other applications. The separation of racemic mixtures is under running in our lab. Optically pure compounds of such a type can open new possibilities in their use.

The position of rail transport in the global economy

This thesis deals with rail transport and its position in the global economy. It contains a description and an analysis of the world situation of the railway sector in comparison with other means of transport. Furthermore, not only assesses it main disadvantages and causes of stagnation but it also shows its vital comparative advantages. It also provides an analysis of the development of both passenger and freight rail services with a focus on high- speed rail in selected countries. Finally, the thesis predicts future trends in rail transport.

The socio-economic and political development in South Africa between the years 1978-1989

This work is devoted to analyzing the political and socio-economic development in South Africa between the years 1978-1989. At that time the apartheid regime was revised for the first time since its official introduction. This period of so-called reform apartheid is associated mainly with the Prime Minister Pieter Willem Botha, who began to reform apartheid in an attempt to retain political and economic power in the hands of white South Africans. In this paper I have attempted to define the causes, course and consequences of the reform effort that preceded the democratization process in the early 90s of the 20th Century.

The economic reforms in Czechoslovakia and GDR during the sixties of 20th century

The theme of this thesis is economic reforms in Czechoslovakia and German Democratic Republic (GDR) during the sixties of 20th century. In the first part I focus on the progress of economy in Czechoslovakia. After major problems with planning came the need to implement fundamental reforms of the system. The primary reform steps and also the attitudes of the political leading to implement the steps are interpreted here. I focus on the final phase of reforming process in 1968 and its termination by military intervention in August of 1968 as well. In the following part the complicated relations in post-war East Germany, where the similar economic development to Czechoslovakia took place in the fifties, are interpreted. The pursuit of equalization with West Germany and the regime dissatisfaction of the population compelled the main representatives of GDR to reform the system of leading economics. Despite good results, which the new system brought, it was not able to keep and deepen the system. The aim of the thesis is to answer reasons why the reforms in both countries did not succeed.

Historie rybníkářství v českých zemích s přihlédnutím k současnosti

V práci se zabývám vývojem jednoho z nejstarších oborů lidské činnosti ? rybníkářstvím. Obdobím jeho prvního rozmachu, zejména však zakládáním rybníků v dobách ?zlatého rybníkářského věku? v 16. století. Zmiňuji historické události, které vývoj rybníkářství v dalších obdobích zastavily, i ty, které vedly k opětovnému oživení rybníkářské tradice ve druhé polovině 19. století. Pokusím se porovnat význam rybníkářství v minulosti a v současnosti, zhodnotit podíl ryb na domácím trhu potravin i na exportu. Snažím se najít a pochopit vzájemné vazby mezi vývojem rybníkářství a vývojem společnosti i vyvolat hrdost na tradici oboru a umění našich předků.
