The position of the town Říčany in Prague hinterland: a case study of families with children
Chrpa, Jiří ; Špačková, Petra (advisor) ; Mulíček, Ondřej (referee)
This master thesis deals with the question, whether the town Říčany performs functions of the local centre for its residents. Part of the text is devoted to the transformation taking place around the Czech capital. The paper uses the theoretical framework of Time geography. Using a qualitative questionnaire survey targeted at families with children, the work is trying to identify, where the residents localize their activities. The thesis also attempts to recognize the activity localisation mechanisms. Another goal was to find differences between various categories of the respondents. Children and adults working in Říčany usually localize their activities close to their home. Adults working in Prague have an elliptic activity space, in which home is however main station. One of the contributions of this work is the typology of four groups of households. In addition to long-term residents and two types of suburbanites, the group of "grounded residents" was defined. Although they have moved to the town rather recently, they usually live in the older parts of the town and localize there most of their life.

Benáčková, Kristýna ; Špačková, Petra (advisor) ; Novotná, Marie (referee)
The objective of the thesis is to evaluate the current situation of capacities of primary schools compared with the number and the distribution of pupils in compulsory education age in Prague suburban municipalities. In the analysis the area of Pragueʼs hinterland (districts Praha-východ and Praha-západ) was examined. The paper assesses the impacts of suburbanization on demographic development and on primary education in this region. Insufficient capacities of primary schools are significant problem in last few years in this area. In connection with uneven development of the region the problem does not affect all municipalities with equal intensity. Serious problems were identified in the particular area of the northern, southern and south-eastern hinterland of Prague. The strategy of the municipalities to ensure the sufficient capacities of primary schools depends on whether the municipality establishes its primary school or not and it is also connected with the availability of basic education for residents of the municipality. The Influence of Suburbanization on the Demographic and Social Structure and Social Climate in Suburbs of Mladá Boleslav
Hrušková, Nela ; Špačková, Petra (advisor) ; Kopečná, Martina (referee)
The main aim of the bachelor thesis is to describe the social structure of the population and social climate in suburbs Mlada Boleslav. In relation to immigration around the city there are changes of population size and population structure of municipalities, which is related to an increase in the differences among local residents. This is due to differentiation in terms of social status, traditions, behaviour and age. In this work are evaluated primarily the impacts of these differences on the relationship between the local population and people who moved recently. The paper is trying to figure out the level of involvement of newcomers in the running community and define problems and types of cooperation among these groups. I assume that it will be some variations between municipalities, but generally it will have similar problems and positives which were found in studies in suburbs of Prague. I also discuss whether, or how, is the process influenced by Škoda Auto, which is located in Mlada Boleslav. Keywords: suburbanization, social structure, social climate
