Design of a high-speed electrical machine.

This diploma thesis is dedicated to design of highspeed induction motor with power 30 kW, 60 000 rpm. In the beginning of the thesis basic problematic of highspeed motors, used materials and motor types is discussed. The practical part of the thesis concerns design of the motor itself, creating a model in ANSYS Maxwell software, performing several simulations and optimalization of the designed machine. In the last parf of this thesis each simulation is evaluated and the final model of the machine is introduced.

- Basic historical milestones for defining constellations People have always been fascinated by the starry sky. At first stars were only small distant lights, though people had no idea how far these lights actually were. It was a long way to the form of constellations as know them now. It started from only the brightest stars, which were supposed to be placed on spherical surface and their placement was associated with different types of characters of ancient nations, animals and things from their daily life or old legends and led to a distribution of the heavenly sphere to 88 areas with exactly defined borders. All of that took thousands of years of work and observations of generations of astronomers, improvement of instruments to measurement and writing down the positions of the celestial bodies. Research of constellations has never been a mere description of reality, but it has always been reflected in the thoughts and views of the world of a given culture or civilization.

The importance and protection of the conscience of physician in the physician-patient relationship

The Importance and Protection of the Conscience of Physician in the Physician-Patient Relationship In democratic countries all over the world, the protection of the conscience of health workers represents a very relevant problem. Especially the controversial but legal procedures, such as abortion or, in some countries, euthanasia, are often refused by health workers on the basis of their conscience. The society faces a difficult dilemma of balancing the interests of physicians, patients, and health care systems. The thesis approaches the problem primarily from the perspective of Catholic moral theology in the frame of a predominantly secular environment of the contemporary Euro-American civilisation. There are analysed the concept of conscience, the basic principles of moral reasoning, virtue ethics and its importance for modern medicine and, finally, the concept of conscientious objection as a model example of the protection of health worker's conscience. The above mentioned particular topics serve as a basis for the evaluation of the importance of the conscience of health worker and the proposal of possible solutions to the related dilemmas.

Astronomical grounds of calendars in different historical periods and cultures

The main goal of this work is to describe calendars of various countries, and that both calendars, which are used until these days, and calendars of perished civilizations or calendars, which were abandoned by their users because during ages they had preferred another calendar. This work is for everyone, who would like to be informed, how our calendar was originated, why he contains some things which are illogical from our point of view such as the irregularity of the length of months. It also tries to show the way how the calendars were created, how they were refinement, but also that the calendar we use most, the Gregorian calendar, is not still perfect. First chapter wants to explain to reader, what is the lunar, solar and lunisolar calendar. In second chapter are described calendars of the eldest known Mediterranean civilizations in the context of antique literary creation. Third chapter is dedicated to the world's most widespread Gregorian calendar, the circumstances of his rise by correcting the Julian calendar, about his acceptance in world and about the lunar point in this otherwise solar calendar, namely the calculation of Easter. Astronomical research at Charles University in Prague from 1882 until the present time

Ferdinandova byla v roce 1882 rozdělena na českou a německou část. Obě č l vyvíjely nezávisle na sobě. Astronomicky ustav německé univerzity v letech 1913 řídil Ladislaus Weinek, autor prvního atlasu Měsíce, v letech 1938 E. F. Freundlich, přítel Alberta Einsteina a první ředitel Einsteinova Německé univerzita zrušena. Česky astronomicky Po Seydlerově smrti převzal 1934 řídil Vanýsek. Statni hvězdárnu, která od roku 1918 vystupov vědecky ustav, řídil v letech 1920 František Link. Statni hvězdárna včetně observatoře v Ondřejově se stala v roce 1954 Astronomickým ústavem ČSAV.

Protection of Personal Data

This rigorous thesis deals with the protection of personal data. This is an issue relating to each of us, thereby personal data and its protection becomes very significant legal phenomenon. The thesis includes alongside the initial part, where a concept of personal data and a sense of its protection is described, also treatise on historical development of international law on protection of personal data and on constitutional ground too. The largest part is devoted to the Act on the Protection of Personal Data and its legal regulation of protection of personal data, which is also the main formal source of its legislation. It is followed by the part dedicated to the protection of personal data according to selected special laws. And the last part of the thesis is a treatise on the possibilities of judicial protection. The thesis strives for comprehensive and thoroughgoing analysis of protection of personal data in terms of generally binding legal regulations, and for the identification of weaknesses in the legislation on protection of personal data, as well as for its clear and logical submission eligible also for use of law laymen.

The thesis deals with an issue of legal aspects of stem cell research with a special emphasis on the use of embryonic stem cells which is connected with the most of ethical and legislative controversies. At first, there are presented biological and ethical aspects of the topic necessary for its understanding. The thesis further analyses related legislation relevant for the research conducted in the Czech Republic. With respect to international law, the thesis focuses mainly on the Council of Europe system of protection of human rights. Then, the thesis presents regulation in primary and secondary European Union law. In the two final chapters, there is presented Czech regulation in the constitutional order (in the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms) and laws, which is then viewed in European context as moderately permissive and relatively well prepared. Its greatest weakness is the lack of discussion about the topic in the Czech public.

Shell galaxies - "sticky particles" hydrodynamical simulations

Shell galaxies are usually ellipticals with concentric faint arc-like stellar structures with sharp outer edges. They originate from galactic collisions (so called mergers). According to observations, some galaxies has also gaseous structures, that can be associated with stellar shells. We carry out a few numerical simulations, in which we recreate gaseous shells throug radial collisions of small and large elliptical galaxies. Then we analyze the differences between stellar and gaseous shells. Our simulations are based on earlier models, which describes gas by using so called "sticky-particles" hydrodynamics. This approach was so far quite succesful in resolving origin of gaseous shells. Our conclusion is, that gas in preset galaxies is not sufficient to make any difference. Method of standard candles for determining distances in the Universe

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to enrich the reader's knowledge about methods of determining distances in the universe. This study is particularly focused on the history of the evolution of these methods, a physical descrip- tion of the problem and interim results. Primarily, this thesis deals with the method of standard candles. First, the main information necessary for study- ing the methods of determining distances in the universe is clarified. Then the thesis describes in detail the issue of important historical events and inventions which affected the evolution of these methods. Through these topics we obtain knowledge of this method, and the knowledge of the theory of the expansion of the universe as well. 1
