Valuation of financial instruments (e.g. in the context of market liquidity)
Retrograde study of the effect of the shock ware therapy for the functional disorders of the musculosceletal system
Horáková, Kateřina ; Doubková, Lucie (advisor) ; Veselá, Jana (referee)
This thesis assesses the effectiveness of shock wave therapy for dysfunctional disorders of the musculoskeletal system. While we are well aware of the physical principles and history of shock wave generators, opinion differs on the treatment effectiveness mechanisms. The theoretical part of this work explains the effects of shock waves on various types of tissue, the differentiation of the cells, and the analgetic effect of therapy. It summarizes the indications, side effects and contraindications of shock wave therapy. The research part of this thesis deals with the effectiveness of shock wave therapy at the Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine at the Motol University Hospital, which specialises in various musculoskeletal disorders. This thesis evaluates the correlation between the effectiveness of shock wave therapy and length of time the patient has experienced difficulties before undergoing treatment. This thesis also reviews whether the number of treatment applications has the capability to influence the outcome of therapy. The study is controlled by a control group of 22 patients. The total effectiveness of shock wave therapy is p = 1,12*10-10 . The shock wave therapy effectiveness of patients with heel spur is p = 0,00176. The shock wave therapy effectiveness of patients with...
The narrative study: Absalom's cycle
Veselá, Jana ; Beneš, Jiří (advisor) ; Holubová, Markéta (referee)
6 The result of my thesis is the finding that narrative analysis is an approach that allows understanding biblical text in a bigger scope. The better comprehension is particularly given by understanding of the deep narrative structures. This works also for the exegesis where the narrative-analytical frame serves as a sieve that separates statements burdened by theology. However these statements can be seen as the door through which we can enter the story and determine its fundamental message. On the other hand, narrative approach cannot be considered as an all-embracing approach for understanding the Old Testament text, because it does not help us neither to discover what exactly led the author to create the Absalom's cycle, nor to define what demands he places on the readers.
Diversity of the genus Frustulia in northern Europe
Scharfen, Vojtěch ; Urbánková, Pavla (advisor) ; Veselá, Jana (referee)
Genus Frustulia was chosen for this work due to the continuity of the previous research of our phycological group. Using molecular techniques, it was found that a number of morphologically defined species of diatoms is cryptic species complex, which may have limited dispersal. The aim of this study was to: 1) evaluate the diversity of the genus Frustulia in northern Europe by molecular methods and classify found species in the phylogenetic context of related species; 2) find out if it possible to identify the isolated species in natural samples by using morphological characters. There have been analyzed 234 strains by molecular methods. Isolated ones were in four clades. 86 % of the strains belonged to a generic complex F. crassinervia-saxonica. Two strains were identified as species F. gaertnerae and F. septentrionalis. The last line was not described yet so it was labeled as F. sp. This line is closely related to the species F. maoriana, which is considered to be endemic in New Zealand. Phylogeny of the genus was created based on a dataset of four molecular markers. Published morphometric data were then compared with 264 cells photos taken by scanning electron microscope. There was done surveillance comparison of the results of the analysis of quantitative and qualitative characters with...
Phylogenetic, morphological and ecological context of microevolution in pennate diatoms
Veselá, Jana ; Neustupa, Jiří (advisor) ; Řeháková, Klára (referee) ; Vanormelingen, Pieter (referee)
Visual assessment of discontinuities in the morphological features of diatom cells has been widely used in the discovery and delimitation of diatom species. However, a multidisciplinary approach to species-level taxonomy has revealed hidden diversity within the traditional diatom morphospecies. Consequently, this work examined both the natural and clonal populations of diatoms by diverse traditional and modern approaches, in order to assess the diversity, ecology, and distribution of diatom species. Although a detailed investigation of natural diatom samples was confounded by uncertain morphological boundaries between the traditional diatom species, it recognized that the diversity was relatively high; even one new diatom species was described using the morphological species concept. The multivariate statistical analyses showed that the variation of natural communities of traditional diatom morphospecies reflected differences in the local environmental conditions, as well as microhabitat heterogenity within a region. Since each diatom morphospecies is most likely a complex of sibling species, the two model traditional morphospecies were investigated, in order to assess morphological variation, genetic diversity, and/or the reproductive compatibility of monoclonal cultures. Even though isolated...
KASHRUT and SHECHITAH: Jewish dietary laws and ritual slaughtering
Veselá, Jana ; Nosek, Bedřich (advisor) ; Holubová, Markéta (referee)
These papers deal with the principles and natural relations of kosher cuisine and Jewish ritual slaughter. In the first chapter we can find the general introduction into the issues of kashrut and also the basic terminology. The second chapter deals with the division of food on kosher and trefah food and also with the milk and meat mixing ban and its consequences. In the following chapter we can find information regarding the ritual slaughter and the whole process of killing an animal from the choosing the right piece till its killing. In the fourth chapter I am writing about the consequent meat processing. In the last chapter we can find the information about the ritual slaughter in modern era. Whole thesis is clearly divided into the chapters and subchapters and the reader will get into the rules and principles of Jewish way of eating step by step.
The chances in the life of asdolescents after leaving the childrens home
Veselá, Jana ; Stolařová, Jaroslava (referee) ; Koťa, Jaroslav (advisor)
Dissertation with the title " The Chances in the Life of Adolescents after Leaving the Childrens Home" explores the complex problems that young people brought up in care institutions face while integrating into society. The two main sections of this dissertation are Theoretical and Empirical. The Theoretical part forms a framework for the Empirical part. The Theoretical section focuses on outlining the structure of children's homes as part of the institutional care system in the Czech Republic. This section describes the grounds for children's home placement and then further analyses problems connected with those who leave care after reaching the age of consent. This analysis explores the young people's opportunities and difficulties in finding accommodation and work and in their integration with the social environment. It describes in more detail the principles of social services for young people in so-called half-way houses. Model standards for these institutions are demonstrated by using the example of a half-way house as operated by 'DOM' Civic Trust. The Empirical part introduces the rationale and main findings of this qualitative study. The purpose of this dissertation was to describe the quality of life of young people leaving childrens homes. It also explores the way they reflect on life in care...
The municipal real-gymnasium of Malá Strana in 1865-1891
Veselá, Jana ; Randák, Jan (referee) ; Hlavačka, Milan (advisor)
The paper's topíc is Czech secondary education in the second half of the 19th century. It generally follows the development of the education system in Austria and discusses the consequences of the Exner-Bonitz school reform from 1849. This reform created two main types of secondary schools: the gymnasium and the real school. As a result of theoretical debates about a single, unified sec on dary school, a new type of school emerges in the Czech lands, the so-called real-gymnasium, a combination ofboth previous types. In the 1860s, new schools are being founded in the Czech lands by the individua! municipalities who also provide the funding. The paper selects one of them, the real-gymnasium in Malá Strana, Prague, as a model example and follows its development as a mixed type of secondary school and also the economic and administrative implications of its existence and the efforts of the city council to hand it over into the hands of the state. The relationship between the city officials and the Austrian Ministry of cult and education is analysed. Methodologically, the paper also discusses the use of autobiographical fiction in literature as a source for the study of everyday life in history. Considering the participants in the school situation, the paper's focus lies on students, their social standing and...
