Physical-geographic aspects of bird diversity in the Czech Republic Abstract This thesis deals with the concept of biodiversity. It describes the basic findings about biological diversity on Earth, the negative influences on its quality and steps taken for its protection. Factors determining biodiversity such as latitude, altitude, environment's character etc. are described and related to the diversity of birds of prey. I also briefly focus on selected physical - geographical aspects of the Czech Republic that influence biodiversity, especially that of the birds of prey. These aspects are related to climate conditions which are also closely connected with global climate changes. Then I proceed to describe the ecosystems which are the most important for the bird community, in particular the forest, mountain, wetland and agricultural land ecosystems. The final part focuses on birds of prey. My aim was to map their diversity on the territory of the Czech Republic in dependence on selected physical-geographical conditions - i. e. altitude and character of the environment. I also compare the diversity of birds of prey with regard to the presence of a protected territory or bird area. The results of my research are interpreted in the conclusion.

Title of diploma thesis: Apoptosis and its role in selected human diseases Apoptosis, which represents a specific form of programmed cell death, is an essential physiological process. It is very important for the organism's developement and for the maintenance of tissue homeostasis. It is a highly regulated process that is always triggered by a definite signal. This signal activates specific apoptotic pathways, a series of mechanisms that subsequently lead to cellular decline. The dysregulation of apoptosis is associated with a variety of pathological conditions such as cancer, some disorders of the immunty system or of the cardiovascular system, or neurological diseases. To the last mentioned belong neurodegenerative disorders that are characteristic of the decline of selective neuronal populations. Examples of these are Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Although its pathogenesis is still not fully elucidated, many studies indicate that the loss of neurons could be tightly related to excessive apoptotic activity. The pharmacotherapy of the migraine

In this thesis there are summarized the most important aspects of treatment of migraine. The initial step in treatment of migraine should be proper diagnosis of migraine headaches and triggering factors. Successful disease management is complex, must combine pharmacologic and non- pharmacologic approach, change of lifestyle and nutrition. Good cooperation between the doctor and the patient should be considered under the treatment success. Development of a new type of pharmaceuticals called "triptans" caused the substantial progress. It presents the most effective class of pharmaceuticals and the principal part of management of migraine.

Possibilities for developing sustainable transport in Prague

This diploma thesis is concerned with the issue of sustainable transport. In the theoretical part, the emphasis is placed on setting the concept of sustainable transport into a broader context; it also describes various factors influencing the choice of the means of transport, which is crucial for transport planning. Furthermore, it describes a set of diverse tools used for transport regulation. At the end of the theoretical part, it mentions specific approaches implemented in selected cities all over the world. The practical part is based on a significant personal research, which helps to understand the issues of transport in a selected area of Prague. On the basis of this research, it subsequently suggests possible measures that might lead to a decrease in the intensity of automobile transport in the aforementioned area. Most of those measures can be similarly applied in other city areas as well.

Block of flats

Abstract This diploma thesis deals with the design documentation of a block of flats. The block of flats is supposed to be situated in South Moravia, Znojmo district, in Olbramovice village, cadastral area no. 709930 – Olbramovice u Moravskeho Krumlova. The building is designed as a brick building with a contact thermal insulation system. Vertical constructions are designed from the Porotherm structural system. Horizontal constructions are designed as reinforced concrete structure. Foundation structures are designed from concrete. The object is roofed with a warm flat roof. The object has four floors. On the ground floor is technical hinterland and also one flat is designed to be barrier-free. The other floors are individual flats. There are ten flats in the building. Five flats have their own loggia and two flats have terrace. The building is newly built and it has a L-shaped plan.

Detached House Olbramovice

This bachelor thesis deals with the design documentation of a detached house with a dental surgery, designed for a family of five. The house is situated in South Moravia, Znojmo district, in Olbramovice village, cadastral area no. 709930 – Olbramovice u Moravskeho Krumlova. The building is designed as a brick building. Vertical and horizontal constructions are designed from the Porotherm structural system. Foundation structures are designed from concrete. The main part of the building is covered with a pitched roof with a slope of 30°. The pitched roof is constructed as a wooden frame and a purlin system. The garage is covered with ply flat roof. The dental surgery is covered with a flat walkable roof. The building has two floors in the main part. In the side parts of the building (the garage and the dental surgery) object have only one floor. The building is newly built and it has a dissected plan.

Czech and Moravian wines and their import and export

The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to analyze the Czech and Moravian wines and describe their position on the Czech market. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter contains basic information about the wine (history, wine distribution, factors affecting the taste and quality of the wines and procedure for assessing the quality of wine). The second chapter deals with the main wine regions in the Czech republic. In the last chapter is analysed foreign trade in wine. This part provides information mainly about consumption and wine production and evaluation of the import and export.

Tuning the Photophysical Properties of Anti-B18H22 [1]

The tuning of the photophysical properties of the highly fluorescent boron hydride cluster anti-B18H22 (1), by straight-forward chemical substitution to produce 4,4'-(HS)(2)-anti-B18H20 (2), facilitates intersystem crossing from excited singlet states to a triplet manifold.[1] This subsequently enhances O-2((1)Delta(g)) singlet oxygen production from a quantum yield of Phi(Delta) similar to 0.008 in 1 to 0.59 in 2. This contribution describes the synthesis and full structural characterization of the new compound 4,4'-(HS) 2-anti-B18H20 (2) and uses UV-vis spectroscopy coupled with DFT and ab initio computational studies to delineate and explain its photophysical properties. Additionally, we will report on new fluorescent derivatives of anti-B18H22 and their immobilisation on solid nanostructured substrates.

Úroveň obsahu těžkých kovů v kompostech ve vztahu ke znečištění půdy a odstraněné biomasy z pražské veřejné zeleně

Zpráva stručně informuje o úrovních znečištění vegetace městských vegetačních ploch a jejich půdních pokryvů, o režimu údržby ploch zeleně a o firmách, které smluvně zajišťují údržbu vegetačních ploch v jednotlivých městských obvodech Prahy. Jsou uvedeny výsledky měření koncentrací arzenu, kadmia, chromu, mědi, niklu, olova, vanadu a zinku, které byly zjištěny ve vzorcích ukládaného listí a v jejich produktech rozkladu na skládkách v různých částech Prahy. Výsledky ukázaly, že při současném způsobu likvidace odpadů z ploch pražské zeleně vznikají samovolným procesem rozkladu substráty, které v 90 % vyšetřovaných vzorků překračují povolené limity pro různé stupně jakosti kompostu. Je navrhováno, aby odpady z pražské zeleně byly ukládány na skládce nebo skládkách s řízenou technologií kompostování jednotlivých odpadů (surovin), s kontrolovanou kvalitou vznikajícího kompostu a užití produktu by mělo být regulováno dle norem.
