Remedies for copyright and neighbouring rights infringement in international context
Ježek, Jan ; Císařová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Holcová, Irena (referee)
Remedies for copyright and neighbouring rights infringement in international context The aim of this thesis is to comprehensively summarise the current international state of remedies for copyright and neighbouring rights infringement. For that purpose the thesis outlines subject matter of copyright and neighbouring rights, international and European legislation, execution and infringement of such rights. With regard to intangible nature of subjects protected by copyright and neighbouring rights, it is not sufficient to prescribe measures only at national level; on the contrary it is necessary to prescribe legislation internationally, because execution and infringement of rights can occur at multiple locations simultaneously. Therefore, this thesis also deals with current issues of digital era, which must be dealt with by the law of copyright and neighbouring rights. The topic of this thesis is divided into five parts. First chapter outlines the intellectual property rights and mainly the special nature of copyright and neighbouring rights. Second chapter summarises most of international treaties in the field of copyright and neighbouring rights and guides through the evolution of international legislation. Further the chapter summarises the European legislation on copyright and neighbouring...
Determination of the stress state in a clay massif using deformation measurements in an adit
Novák, Vojtěch ; Mašín, David (advisor) ; Ježek, Jan (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to determine the original stress state of a clay massif in the town Brno. Stress state of rock mass is generally expressed by an empirical relationship of coefficient of earth pressure at rest K0. This coefficient can be determined by numerical methods, laboratory tests and also using inverse numerical analysis. This diploma thesis deals with the determination of the original stress state in rock mass by means of numerical modeling. Excavation of an exploratory adit R2 has been selected as a case study for the backanalysis. It was excavated for the purpose of engineering geological survey within the construction of Královopole tunnels. The numerical model was developed using geotechnical software Plaxis 2D and 3D using two advanced hypoplastic models. These models did not consider stiffness anisotropy. The results of the presented diploma thesis are the values of the coefficient of earth pressure at rest K0, obtained using four different types of numerical analyses. In addition, overconsolidation preassure of a natural clay was determined using empirical relationship by Mayne and Kulhawy (1982) and using oedometric compression tests on undisturbed samples of brno clay.
Tunnelling in České Středohoří
Rychnovský, Vojtěch ; Mašín, David (advisor) ; Ježek, Jan (referee)
This work contains the information about the Prackovice tunnel, tunnel across the České středohoří highland on highway D8, geological structure of the area, advanced works and the process of construction. The work also includes a 2D numerical analysis of the Prackovice tunnel using the finite element method. Parametric study and back analysis were carried out, therefore an original model could be modified to comply with the results of geotechnical monitoring. This led to better compliance between the model and reality.
The Role of Uncoupling in Down-regulation of Reactive Oxygen Species
Ježek, Jan ; Žáčková, Markéta (advisor) ; Modrianský, Martin (referee) ; Drahota, Zdeněk (referee)
Uncoupling attenuates Complex I-derived superoxide production by accelerating electron flux and proton pumping within Complex I. However, under circumstances leading to hampered proton pumping pathway within Complex I, e.g. due to aberrant mutations of mtDNA encoding either ND2, ND4 or ND5 Complex I H+-pumping subunit, therapeutic strategy based simply on uncoupling would fail. Experimentally, hydrophobic amiloride EIPA mimicks the model of disabled H+-pumping. We show for the first time that EIPA is a real inhibitor of H+-pumping of mitochondrial Complex I. We searched for an agent that, unlike uncoupling, would be able to counteract oxidative stress associated with obstructed proton pumping of Complex I. Mitochondria-targeted ubiquinone MitoQ10 proved to be an effective antioxidant for this purpose when the rate of superoxide formation was high due to the electron flow retardation within Complex I. Because of its pro-oxidant properties, targeted delivery of MitoQ10 as a cure to the pathological tissue is necessary. Activation of mitochondrial phospholipase iPLA2 by mild oxidative stress can provide free fatty acid hydroperoxides as the cycling substrates for UCP2 that initiates mild uncoupling leading to the attenuation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, as a part of feedback regulatory loop of...
Determining the resistance of paint films due to the thickness and number of layers
Ježek, Jan ; Bomba, Jan (advisor) ; Pánek, Miloš (referee)
In the theoretical part of this work there is described the theory of coating substances: sorts of coating substances, making a coating (paint) film and requirements of coating matters. In the practical part there was being found an affect of cold liquids upon concrete coating substances, an affect of the thickness of the coating film upon the resulting surface resistence and an affect of wood upon the quality of the coating. No difference of film quality of coating substances applied to conifers and leafy wood was evidenced. The quality of coating was applied to plawood materials where pores of the upper veneer were filled with paste and so there was no difference between conifers and leafy wood. According to statistics there is no important affect upon the film quality. The coatings 80 and 150g/m2 were used, which are the limited statements of an interval recommmended by producers and the quality of coating is declared. The result: the most aggressive liquid was remover, then plum brandy, Savo liquid, vinegar and mouthwash. Jar, the preparation for washing dishes, was the least aggressive.

Many microorganisms (e.g., bacteria, yeast, and algae) are known to form a multi-layered structure composed of cells and extracellular matrix on various types of surfaces. Such a formation is known as the biofilm. Special attention is now paid to bacterial biofilms that are formed on the surface of medical implants, surgical fixations, and artificial tissue/vascular\nreplacements. Cells contained within such a biofilm are well protected against antibiotics and phagocytosis and, thus, effectively resist antimicrobial attack.\nA method for in vitro identification of individual bacterial cells as well as yeast colonies is presented. Figure 1 shows an an example of the biofilm formed by Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria and Candida parapsilosis yeasts known for forming biofilms. The\npresented method is based on analysis of spectral “Raman fingerprints” obtained from the single cell or whole colony, see figure 2(top). Here, Raman spectra might be taken from the biofilm-forming cells without the influence of an extracellular matrix or directly form the bacterial/yeast colony.
Flow-chambers for microscopy of living cells
Čolláková, Jana ; Ježek, Jan (referee) ; Antoš, Martin (advisor)
The perfusion chamber for long term observing of live cells by the means the Coherence-Controlled Holographic Microscope (CCHM) was designed. CCHM was built and designed at the Laboratory of the optical microscopy at the Institute of Physical Engineering, Brno University of Technology. CCHM can quantitatively evaluate dynamical changes inside live cells thanks to the quantitative information about phase shift in each pixel of the image. In order to demonstrate advantages of CCHM experimentally, it is important to keep the live cells in the good conditions. This is made by adding the fresh cultivation medium for studied cells directly in the microscope. In contrast to the stationary chamber the perfusion chamber allows both the cultivation medium exchange and the application of biological reagents without the necessity of removing the chamber from the microscope. Therefore we can study the vital signs of cells before and after the application of reagents. An original perfusion system with accessories compatible with CCHM was designed. The design is based on the previously published perfusion system solutions that are referred to in this thesis. The flow characteristics and medium exchange process was discussed and a modification of the internal geometry, based on numerical simulations, was introduced. The applicability of this perfusion chamber has been proven for the CCHM and even for different types of microscopes. The reactions of tumor and epithelial cells during the change of the environment from the cultivation medium to the physiologically solution were studied.
