Constructional activities of Prague burgesses concerning their country estates in the middle ages
Hůrka, Martin ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Klápště, Jan (referee)
I deal with constructional activities performed at country estates of Prague burgesses or persons, who were no longer considered to be lawful burgesses, but who had had their roots in that community. I target the period from the first known references on activities of those persons in the country approximatelly in the middle of the 13th century untill the end of the 15th centrury. Constructional activities can nowadays be recognized nearly exclusively at two types of buildings - residencies (forts, strongholds, castles) and churches. The utmost boom of building activities at country estates belonging to "burgesses" can be seen from the middle of the 14th centrury untill the burst of the Hussite Wars. The most atractive region, where the concerned persons had invested their resources, proved to be the one east of Prague.

Velička, Tomáš ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Holá, Mlada (referee)
This work consists of three chapters. In its first part, I have tried to show an overview of the development of Czech - Silesian relations in the 13th and 1 14th century. The second chapter is devoted to Klodzko as the border region. In its first part, I tried to resolve the question of jurisdiction Klodzko in 1278 - 1290th In the second part I tried to compare using confirmatory study documents the status of a city located in the basin Klodzko with other Czech royal cities. At last, the largest chapter, I have tried to resolve the question of authenticity of the testament of Henry IV. of Wroclaw.

Aleš Holický of Šternberk. Nobleman and politician of the post Lipany period
Koula, Vít ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Zilynská, Blanka (referee)
In my thesis I deal with Aleš Holický, a significant representative of the Šternberk clan, in the post Lipany period. On the basis of sources, I am trying to chart especially his political programme, its creation and the fulfilment of the goal he was pursuing. I follow up his political orientation after the conversion to the chalice in the beginning of 1430s and try to describe the basis of his rise including the influence of the political groups which he was a member of. In this context, I explain Aleš's role in Ptáček's and Poděbrad's party and his interest in formulation and enforcement of their demands. On the basis of the evidence collected, Aleš's contribution not just to Czech utraquism, Ptáček's party, Poděbrad's party (later Poděbrad's league), in which he acted, as well as for the whole country is evaluated at the end. Thus, I am trying to revise some conclusions of older historiography in which Aleš's influence in the parties he belonged to as well as his independent negotiations have been underestimated. In Aleš's persistent, purposeful activity and merits I can see the substantiation of his inclusion among the significant personalities of Czech history and politics of the 1430s - 1450s. In my thesis, I am following up both Aleš's political programme and his relations to his allies and...

From a Burgher House through the Imperial Court to Loket Castle. The Careers of Kaspar and Mates Schlicks in Bohemia, Empire and Saxony ( 1390 - 1487)
Novotný, Michal ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Vorel, Petr (referee) ; Ledvinka, Václav (referee)
From a Burgher House through the Imperial Court to Loket Castle The Careers of Kaspar and Mates Schlicks in Bohemia, Empire and Saxony (1390-1487) The presented thesis is devoted to the oldest history of the Schlick family. The rise of an originally burgher-class family was based on the court and chancellery career of Kaspar Schlick († 1449); the latter bolstered his successes in the services of Sigismund of Luxembourg and Albrecht and Fridrich Habsburgs by an array of false documents that significantly contributed to the change of his social and economic status (his false promotion to the estate of a count and gaining a fortune). In the second half of the 15th century, after Kaspar's death, his brother Mates and his sons struggled for the preservation of acquired status and health. The following topics were investigated: (1) The utilization of court services and careers for burghers' getting into aristocratic circles, as exemplified by the person of Kaspar Schlick († 1449); (2) The search of strategies the Schlicks - Mates Schlick in particular († 1487) - took to limit themselves from the aristocratic environment, part of which they became. A significant role played Schlicks' relation to the town of Cheb, from which their family came, and to the Loket region, which they acquired and tried to make...
Jan Jiří Harant z Polžic a Bezdružic: the Czech nobleman and emigrant
Between King and Estates. Lower Lusatian Land Administration on the Threshold of the Modern Age (1490 - 1620)
Březina, Luděk ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Semotanová, Eva (referee) ; Čapský, Martin (referee)
Between King and Estates. Lower Lusatian Land Administration on the Threshold of the Modern Age (1490-1620) Abstract The PhD thesis tries to describe the main changes in Lower Lusatia and the operation of the land administrators between 1490 and 1620. It is based on comparison of the situation in all Lands of the Czech Crown, namely in Bohemia, whereas special attention is paid to the description of the family background, family relationships, the career life and agenda of individual administrators. The thesis also researches the reasons which led Czech Kings to the appointment of land administrators and tries to answer the question how much land administrators influenced events in Lower Lusatia. The Lower Lusatian estates played an important role as well and both, land administrators and Czech Kings, could repeatedly experience their increasing power during the monitored period. For this reason the PhD thesis is focused on land administrators as mediators of power between kings and estates. Key words Early Modern Age, Czech Crown, Lower Lusatia, land administration
Catholic Reformation in the Prague Towns after the Battle of the White Mountain. Prague's New Town in a context of the process of the catholic confessionalisation
Fejtová, Olga ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Pešek, Jiří (referee) ; Hrubá, Monika (referee)
Catholic Reformation in the Prague Towns after the Battle of White Mountain. Prague's New Town in a context of the process of the catholic confessionalisation Abstract Olga Fejtová This thesis' methodological ground is a conception of both clerical and secular politics of recatholisation in a relation to Prague's New Town within the Post-White-Mountain period as part of a process of confessionalisation, i. e catholic confessialisation, within the paradigm that was introduced into European historiography in 1980s . The recatholisation within Bohemian lands in relationship to the paradigm of confessionalisation invokes a strategy of state and clerical power. Its enforcement and exercise in political practice were illustrated by normative materials that represented attendant signs of a development of the catholic confessionalisation. The target of this thesis is firstly to describe the progress of politics concerning recatholisation in a relationship to one of Prague's towns by using contemporary decrees of both secular and clerical origin. Furthermore, it shall investigate issues echoing within and from life of the New-Prague-Town's society of the 17th century. This within both public and private spheres of burgess' life. In order to reveal a correct reflection of the whole structure of the progression...
Colonisation and church authorities in the theritory of historical Loket shire at 13th century
Konůpek, Jan ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Musílek, Martin (referee)
From the beginning of modern historical concern the 13th century has a stable position in all conceptions of the Czech history. There always was an actual era situation which showed in its evaluation. From middle of the 19th century until middle of the 20th century the arrival of new inhabitants from "German countries" and their proportion in building of houses and countrysides was the governing element of this interpretation. A number of authors occupied themselves by this issue, however, the basic interpretation scheme stayed more or less the same. Turn-over took place in the sixties when the European medieval change was observed by a different way. The range of questions and interpretative approaches radically changed. It reached the extension of geographical and time scope, in which the given changes were evaluated, the issue infliction into all-European context and the fundamental expansion of working methods of historiography.
