Biomechanical aspects of the dynamics of intracranial pressure in traumatic brain injury
Mayer, Martin ; Jelen, Karel (advisor) ; Maršík, František (referee) ; Pokorný, Jan (referee)
Title: Biomechanical aspects of the dynamics of intracranial pressure in traumatic brain injury Author: Ing. Martin Mayer e-mail: mayercz@seznam.cz Department: Department of Anatomy and Biomechanics Supervisor: doc. PaedDr. Karel Jelen, CSc. This PhD thesis "Biomechanical aspects of the dynamics of intracranial pressure in traumatic brain injury" is about the dynamics of intracranial pressure, particularly in relation to the external mechanical action of the patient. Severe head injury is the leading cause of death in patients under 35 years of age. Despite constantly-improving medical and nursing care only one third of patients, after recovery, regained the ability to live independently in the long term. Two-thirds of patients were severely disabled or died. The lifetime cost of such a patient who was not completely cured has been calculated to be $4,000,000. A significant consequence of craniocerebral injuries are secondary brain lesions, which among other means the rise in intracranial pressure (ICP), which can further exacerbate due to intracerebral or extracerebral causes. Therefore, the objective of the treatment is minimizing secondary injury, optimally at the phase of the primary lesion. However, realization of this requirement, about which we can say that is a conditio sine qua non, sometimes leads...
Content management system with a focus on utilization in the library environment
Pappová, Michaela ; Pokorný, Jan (advisor) ; Římanová, Radka (referee)
Systémy pro správu obsahu s důrazem na využitelnost v knihovnickém prostředí Michaela Pappová Abstract (in English): The work is focused on open source web content management systems (WCMS), the conception and contextualisation. The advantages and negative factors associated with the use of these systems are discussed based on SWOT analysis. The next section presents selected WCMS - Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla! and Plone. These systems are compared in terms of potential utilization / deployment on the web, especially for small and medium-sized libraries by analyzing a sample of library web sites and specialized extensions, functions and other options offered by the system.
Mortgage crisis
Archalous, Martin ; Pokorný, Jan (advisor) ; Bažantová, Ilona (referee)
The thesis deals with the US mortgage crisis of 2008. The mortgage crisis, the following financial crisis and the debt crisis have affected billions of people around the world. It has been widely covered in literature. This thesis, however, takes a different approach. It analyses the crisis form the point of view of law and economics, looking for overlaps between those disciplines. The author does not accept the divide between law and economics. It is necessary to consider both views in order to understand the crisis. This work does not seek causes of the crisis primarily in the banks and the lack of regulation, as is common view. Rather, this thesis looks for systemic failures and root causes. It focuses on monetary policy (especially the US Fed), the regulatory institutions, bank management and the role of credit rating agencies and exotic financial instruments. In the first part of the work, the author looks at possible causes in different areas: Monetary policy and global trade imbalances, regulation of the mortgage market and government support of affordable housing, banks and their management (corporate governance), regulation and deregulation of the banking sector (with emphasis on the functioning of regulatory institutions, their legal basis and historical context), so-called securitization and...
The distribution of the strain and differences of muscle activity of the lower limb during stance phase in two basic running techniques
Šimon, Jan ; Slabý, Kryštof (advisor) ; Pokorný, Jan (referee)
This thesis is focused on the function of the foot during the running activity. There are two basic running techniques taken in account - the rearfoot strike and the forefoot strike. The aim is to compare the distribution of the strain during the stance phase of running cycle and its relation to the muscle activity of the lower limb. To analyze the muscle activity we use the technique of electromyography (EMG). To measure the pressure during the stance phase we used Pedar - X insoles from the Novel company. As a conclusion we aim to map the distribution of the strain of all particular parts of the lower limb. At the same time we are bringing the proposals for eliminating the overexertion while keeping the same training intensity and volumes.
