Integration of migrants. Case of French in Czech Republic
Klusák, Miroslav ; Suša, Oleg (advisor) ; Duffková, Jana (referee)
This master thesis focuses on integration of highly skilled professionals from Western Europe to East Central Europe. The analysis develops on case study of French managers and their families as temporary labour migrants settled in Prague. The phenomenon of migration of highly qualified work force from the West to the East of Europe becomes more frequent, and thus attracts more and more the interest of researchers. These West European managers, "nomadic elite", come often with their families for five years in average, after which they return to the country of their origin, or move to another destination. The qualitative analysis of interviews discloses that, during their stay in Czech Republic, they do integrate in to the life of society by a specific manner. On one hand, they do enter in contact with local majority society, establish some relationships, but at the same time they do create French community with strong links to France. They do accept very few cultural habits of majority population. Only in the sphere of language and alimentary culture it means that they do not identify with local cultural customs. Such form of integration is facilitated by simple proximity of French and Czech cultures in the context of integrating European Union.

Čapek, Robert ; Klusák, Miroslav (advisor) ; Lašek, Jan (referee) ; Trpišovská, Dobromila (referee)
The aim of this work is to organize information relating to school climate, with an emphasis on classroom climate. The most important producers and consumers of climate are teachers and pupils, who participate in the creation of mutual interactions. These interactions can be seen in each category (such as communication, teaching methods and activities, participation of pupils, etc.), which cover the various components such as class climate. The climate in the classroom can not only perceive but also to measure. In this thesis dealing with the different ways of testing the climate - both qualitative and quantitative. Analyzing the strengths and weaknesses, pointing to the dangers of their use. Research section presents two phases of research. The first is the quantitative measurement in a large sample of 7th elementary school classes and multi-grammar schools. The second phase to verify the use of several tools for measuring the climate in the classroom. Research is part of the discussion, which not only provides answers to research questions, but generally analyzes the detection of climate in the school classroom.
Psychological aspects of reading and its ontogenesis
Andrlová, Lenka ; Viktorová, Ida (advisor) ; Klusák, Miroslav (referee)
The thesis addresses the topic of reading. By means of the qualitative research it analyzes reading of the pupils of the secondary professional school and secondary extension courses, i.e. young people 15-32 years old. Primarily, it deals with two topics: the process of reading (choice of the book, process of reading itself and subsiding of reading) and the reading evolution. Moreover, using individual interviews, it surveys other subtle aspects of reading and accompanying experience. Finally it characterizes individual reader's stages according to the age of the child.
Accounts of knowledge: ageless features?
Poppová, Andrea ; Kučera, Miloš (advisor) ; Klusák, Miroslav (referee)
My dissertation is about friendship and its ageless features. Friendship is a close relationship most often between two people and is characteristic by - mutuality, intimacy: trust, need of closeness, sharing of experience, positive appreciation and unconditional acceptance. Thanks to mutuality are friends able to share various personal experiences, opinions and feelings. Thanks to deeper understanding of both individuals is possible to create functional and satisfying friendship. The friendship among people does exist for long centuries and I would like to show the difference between nowadays and the age of Aristoteles and his point of view. It is a comparison of present respondents, interviews and created map of terms to map of terms created from concept of Aristoteles. My work wants to show that friendship today is actually quite the same as many years ago in the time of Aristoteles. Of course with little changes especially in the area of free time and its spending. Many interesting facts have come from my interviews and they actually match those written by Aristoteles in his famous work Nicomachos' Ethics. After interviews I found out that friendship between respondents is understood like relationship between two people which is intimate-life and death friendship- and essential parts of friendship are...
The Choice of Occupation of People with Mental Disabilities
Figallová, Kateřina ; Klusák, Miroslav (advisor) ; Kučera, Miloš (referee)
As their café training programme comes to a close, the mentally disabled persons involved face an important decision: "What next?" They usually enter a follow-up transit programme, which helps them to deal with the transformation from the café environment to a different one. The objective of this dissertation was to map, understand and gain a deeper view into the process o f career choices among mentally disabled people who have made use o f the transit programme. The research group consisted of a group o f five subjects who entered the transit programme in 2003 and 2004. Data was collected until the end of 2005 when the transit programme was completed by the last of the five subjects. The data processing proceduře was inspired by the qualitative grounded theory of Strausse and Corbin (1999). The data were obtained particularly through active observation and ethnographic interviews with the subjects, and an employee of the transit programme (working consultant). The process of a career choice is considered to be an issue of professional identity. All subjects entered the transit programme with a certain idea about their future careers. We generally speak about a desirable professional identity, represented by jobs which the subjects find attractive for some reason. However, such attractive jobs are often...

Sedláková, Jitka ; Rendl, Miroslav (advisor) ; Klusák, Miroslav (referee)
Submitted work deals with an analysis of children's ways of solving mathematical problem situations in the domain of fractions and further with an effort to recognize mechanisms that stands behind these ways of solving. The problem situations (mathematical tasks) which the children have to solve are chosen in order to cover five interpretations of fractions (part-whole comparison, quotient, operator, measure and ratio) specified by Lamon (1999). A set of tasks is given to the children from the sixth and seventh grades. Data obtaining methods used in this work are as follows: observation of the children during the task solving; discussion with them about their strategies for solving and work paper analysis. The different children strategies are shown herein by means of qualitative analysis of obtaining data. The solution strategies of individual tasks are categorized according to way of solving and way of thinking. In the work it is pointed out many connections between strategies in individual tasks which were solved. It is furthermore shown, how big problem the linguistic acquirement of mathematical terms can be. Due to this problem it is necessary to learn to understand task assignments according to mathematical context requirements. It is pointed out a possible diffusion of individual fraction...
The Spirit of a Festival
Straka, Luděk ; Kučera, Miloš (advisor) ; Klusák, Miroslav (referee)
The theme of my thesis is the "A Detection of the Spirit of Pilgrimage". There is a pilgrimage in Europe, 1.500 km in length, which goes from the French town, Le Puy, to the Spanish town, Santiago de Compostela. The pilgrimage is widely known as "Camino de Santiago". My work focuses on exploring and finding the answer: What is the essence of pilgrimage? My work is divided into two parts; the first is theoretical, introducing the world of medieval pilgrimage from the very beginning to the present. The practical section consists of my own experience with the Camino, and the analysis based on the grounded theory. The thesis explains developement of the pilgrimage and the meaning of the Camino for cultural and religious life in Christian Europe, describes my own accomplished pilgrimage from Prague to Santiago de Compostela and deals with formation of a hypothesis based on the grounded theory. Conception of death perceived by children
Kubáňková, Jarmila ; Valentová, Lidmila (advisor) ; Klusák, Miroslav (referee) ; Vágnerová, Marie (referee)
The aim of this paper is better understanding how children think about the world and what they know about how it goes there. The ambition of the research is to find meanings that children attach to the death. One of the prerequisites of research is the assumption that images of death can not be asked directly without causing undesirable reduction of potentially rich answers. For this reason, Thematic Apperception test was elected as a tool and the children told stories to a pre-selected board. Eleven children, at the age from 9 to 10 years collaborated on the research. As a comparative sample was subjected to the same test a group of eleven young adults aged 19 to 20 years. Stories of children and adults were subsequently subjected to thematic analysis, one category was the meaning of death for actors in the story. Results of the analysis were then put into context with Klatt (1991).
