Comparison of communication between students and teachers in traditional and alternative educational models

The purpose of the thesis titled "Comparison of Communication among Students and Teachers in Traditional and Alternative Models of Education" is to describe and compare the educationof literature with the primary focus on communication dynamics among teachers and students, in the traditional educational model used at a state gymnasium and the alternative model adopted at the Waldorf lyceum. Based on the observations and semi-structured interviews,this thesis summarizes the findings relatedtothe educationof literature inthese two different institutions, including teaching approaches, the materials used, the application of theoretical concepts into practice, and, most importantly, the teacher-student communication. In the conclusion, the results obtained from the observations and interviews provide insights into the educational and communication environments of the four-year gymnasium and the waldorf lyceum, facilitating comparative analysis between the two models.
Language and Communication Development of a Child after Cochlear Implantation with Focus on the Morphosyntactic Level of the Language

(in English): This thesis is a case study of language and communication development of a boy after cochlear implantation. It focuses mainly on the morphosyntactic level of language. The thesis is divided into two main parts. In the first, theoretical, based on a literature search, hearing, its meaning and hearing impairment are discussed, followed by the development of speech and language, both in hearing and hearing-impaired individuals. The second part of the thesis focuses on the research itself. It is conceived as a longitudinal case study based on the analysis of audiotapes of an implanted boy. Based on the transcripts of these recordings, his communication and language development is analysed, focusing particularly on morphosyntax, but with overlap into other linguistic levels. The aim of the paper is to describe the linguistic specifics in the speech of the implanted child and his possible progress on the communicative level.
Book as a support for reading literacy development in children with hearing impairment in a kindergarten

This bachelor's thesis focuses on working with the book as means of achieving reading preliteracy in kindergarten children with hearing impairments. In the theoretical part of the thesis are presented the definitions of literacy, reading literacy and reading preliteracy. Afterwards, the thesis points out factors that influence reading preliteracy in the preschool period. The following chapters explore the connections between this issue and the current curriculum and reading strategies appropriate in preschool education. The final chapter of the theoretical part, highlights the issue of children with hearing impairment in relation to reading preliteracy and briefly mentions the topic of the book and its importance for the development of reading preliteracy. The practical part of the thesis is then devoted to the research of possible ways of implementing solutions for kindergarten children with hearing impairments and their reactions to these activities.
Analysis of written narrations of students in secondary vocational schools

The thesis is devoted to the analysis of written narratives of secondary vocational school students. In the introduction, it presents the characteristics of communication and essay education in secondary schools with regard to the current curricula for secondary vocational schools. It then discusses the definition of the narrative style process and the narrative style form in the stylistics of the Czech language and in textbooks for secondary schools. Due to the choice of the examined style form, the theoretical part includes selected findings from narratology. The research section is based on the collected written works of students of the first year of three secondary vocational schools. The aim of the thesis is to analyse and describe how pupils portray the presentation of a story in their written narratives. The phenomenon in question is studied with reference to three basic categories that can be used to describe story delivery - time, narrator and forms of speech delivery. The thesis concludes by summarizing the findings obtained from the analysis of the students' works and formulating conclusions that provide suggestions for school teaching.
Focus on students' critical thinking in secondary-school textbooks of Czech

This diploma thesis focuses on the way selected Czech language high school textbooks series (Český jazyk pro střední školy - Mluvnice, Komunikace a sloh, Cvičebnice; Český jazyk pro střední školy 1-4; Nová cvičení z českého jazyka v kostce) operate with students critical thinking. Its aim is to analyse how selected materials support the development of critical thinking of high school students (e.g., in the amount of higher order thinking tasks, in the number of open-ended tasks or in the use of specific RWCT methods). The main method applied is an analysis of tasks based on Bloom's taxonomy, open-ended and closed-ended tasks, and evaluation of employed critical thinking methods. The development of verbal and non-verbal communication of a child with Down syndrome

ABSTRACT This dissertation thesis focuses on the process of development of verbal and nonverbal communication of a child with the Down syndrome. Its goal is to analyse, how language and speech are acquired in this atypically developing child, and on this base, supported by findings from previous published research, to describe the acquisition of all language levels - semantics, comprehension, pragmatics, and nonverbal means of communication. One part of this thesis is formed by an analysis of the bilingual (Czech and German) situation of the child. The main method employed is a longitudinal observation of early communication behaviour of the child (in the age from 24 to 48 months) and an analysis of video recordings; the parents' diaries are used as well.
Verbal communication between teachers and students at secondary school (Dialogue in lesson of Czech language)

This thesis aims to analyze verbal communication between teachers and students in Czech language lessons at secondary schools. It focuses on dialogue. The thesis in the theoretical part summarizes the relevant existing knowledge about school communication. It focuses on the verbal communication of teachers and students and deals with the typical communication structure used in school teaching. Information from the theoretical part of the thesis is also confronted with the main conclusions of the practical part of the thesis. The practical part of the thesis analyzes communication in Czech language lessons, based on five recordings of communication between teachers and students at secondary schools. The thesis analyzes and characterizes verbal communication of teachers and students during the lesson and deals with the communication structure that appears in these lessons - questions from teachers, answers of students and feedback from teachers. The individual lesson analyzes are finally compared.
The differences of reading comprehension at level B1 in three Czech textbooks for foreigners

This diploma thesis deals with the speech skills of reading comprehension and comparison of its implementation in selected textbooks of Czech as a foreign language at the B1 level. The analysis focuses on comparing how reading comprehension is approached in individual textbook materials - whether separate sections are set aside for this skill or not, whether reading texts are appropriate in terms of content and language of the level B1, and whether they are included in the reading texts activities before, during and after reading the text, or what form they have and what type of reading they focus on. The aim of the diploma thesis is also to find out whether the preferences of practicing only one of the types of reading do not prevail in selected textbooks, or whether the focus on practicing different types of reading according to SERR is balanced.
Communication of children with autism spectrum disorder (older school age)

This bachelor's thesis focuses on communication of children of older school age with autism spectrum disorder. The first part of the thesis, the theoretical part, introduces basic concepts related to autism spectrum disorder and its types and is based on information from scientific literature. The second part of the thesis, the analytical part, presents the analysis of communication of two children of older school age with autism spectrum disorder and the comparison of their communication. The analysis is based on semi-structured interviews with children and is focused on typical features of communication of the children on individual language levels. Children's legal representatives gave an informed consent that the interviews may be recorded and used anonymously as data for the bachelor's thesis. Reading, writing and speaking in a child with an atypical language development

This thesis will be focused on the characteristics of reading, written language and spoken language of a younger school aged child, whose process of language acquisition is atypical and involves difficulties (with suspicion of specific language impairment or dyslexia). The analysis will beprimarily focused on areas, which the child has troubles with. Using supporting literature, this paperwill try to discover phenomena, which could be relatedto manifestations of specific language impairment or dyslexia. The core of the bachelor thesis will be a case study of the child at the age of 8 to 9. Recordings of speech of the child, recordings of her loud readings and demonstrations of her written language will be examined. Observations of the child during extra lessons will also be used.
