The role of book influencers in realation to the publishers, booksellers and readers

The diploma thesis deals with book influencers and their use by publishers and booksellers as a marketing tool. The thesis presents this modern phenomenon, its characteristics, principles, the most important book influencers in the Czech Republic and the online environment where book influencers operate. The aim was to find out the principles and conditions of cooperation between book influencers, publishers and booksellers, their relationships and the effect of the online content of book influencers on readers. The evaluation was carried out on the basis of a questionnaire survey with six book influencers, eight publishers, two booksellers and 662 readers. The research part shows us how these cooperations work in practice, whether it is a key marketing tool for publishers and booksellers, how it will develop in the future and what are the attitudes of all three examined groups to this phenomenon. At the same time, the research outlines the issue of blurring the differences between book influencers and literary critics, where we can notice considerable misunderstandings on the part of literary critics and rivalry. At the end of the thesis, there are formulated specific assumptions for future development, current trends and shortcomings which should be improved or eliminated both by book influencers...

The Reprezentation of Selected Socialist and Communist Countries in the Czech Press in 2010

Theme of this diploma work are news related to selected socialist and communist countries in the Czech press. Characteristic works are the specifics of media countries with the socialist (or communist) government in the Czech press. Theoretical work is beyond theory Frankfurt and Birmingham schools. The basis of the analysis work will stereotypes concerning the socialist and communist countries, the Czech news media contents. The findings will then be the basis for in-depth interviews with the news media workers and the staff representative bodies of the countries. The goal is to reveal the motives and the construction of stereotypes at the production of media content.

Children's Library in kindergartens: possibilities, limits and challenges

My dissertation comes out of claim that the exploitation of library for children in kindergarten isn't systematically processed. But, it is apparent, acording international research (PIRLS, PISA), that the existence of library for children has positive influence to the development of reading literacy. The objective of my dissertation was the charting of the role of libraries for children in kindergarten. The dissertation were finding out how the library for children are used in kindergartens. What we need to build up to the functional library was the next topic of my dissertation. Both main topics were examinated in qualitative research. I used the design of case studying. I closely charted three cases of kindergarten where the library for children is used. It is needed to add relevant literature, interactive books and attractive books (inside and ouside). This way brings perfect and full using of library. Apart of this, it is the same with the appearence of the library. It is essential to captivate with attractive and nice appearence by children and adults too. The Influence of Regional Media on Readers' Perception of Politics in Melnik

Diploma thesis "The Influence of Regional Media on Readers' Perception of Politics in Melnik" refers on a survey of accepting media framing of politicians, politics and important issues by regional media readers in the town of Melnik. Methods of framing and focus groups were used in the survey. First the methods were introduced. The method of framing was used for qualitative content analysis of five printed media from 2005 to 2007. The media were daily Melnicky denik, weekly Tydenik Melnicko, monthly Melnicka radnice, weekly Tep regionu and regional supplement of Mlada fronta Dnes for Central Bohemia. The author of this work focused on several most important issues of the 2005 to 2007 period and he observed how respondents accept or decline the framing of these problems offered by politics, journalists and other participants of Melnik political life. To do this he organised focus groups discussions with Melnik inhabitants in the age of 26 to 75 years of age. They discussed their opinions and beliefs on local politics. This work is a subjective insight into the world of regional media effects on readers, in this case focused on political issues.

Gender in Czech language textbooks for the first grade of elementary schools

The bachelor's thesis is going to deal with the analysis of gender means used in Czech language readers and course books designed for primary schools. The thesis aims to describe the gender and gender linguistic and their use in Czech education system. The research part is going to analyse the language means used in specific course books and readers. The goal is to assess to what extent the gender means used are appropriate or inappropriate. An additional goal is to look into ways gender means are used and also to examine the change in the perception of these means, comparing recent course books and readers with those published before 1989.
