The Dynamics of Naturalization Process in Latvia and Estonia in the years 1995 - 2005
Márová, Tereza ; Švec, Luboš (advisor) ; Šlosarčík, Ivo (referee)
The restoration of independence of the three Baltic States occurred in 1991. However the previous period of Soviet occupation brought dire, and to a large extent, permanent changes in the ethnic composition of the population. The changes were the primary reason why both countries had fairly restrictive conditions in the revival of civil status - citizenship was given to pre-war citizens and their direct descendants. This thesis by comparative analysis tries to find out the main differences and similarities in the dynamics of naturalization process in Latvia and Estonia. The dynamics will be analyzed from 1995 to 2005. Latvian naturalization process began in 1995. The year 2005 is characterized by a dramatic changes in preferences of non- citizens, which probably occurred after the accession to the European Union. The first part presents the important concepts of the work and presentment of the two countries at the beginning of the 1990s. Then the comparative analysis follows itself. Naturalization is analyzed according to the characters, which, I believe, had the most important influence on the dynamics of the process - Citizenship Act (and its amendments), Language Act, the accession of both countries to the EU and other economical reasons. Keywords The Soviet Union, Latvia, Estonia,...

Changing the approach towards citizenship in the United Kingdom due to migration
Kycltová, Barbora ; Lukešová, Anna (advisor) ; Bauer, Paul (referee)
This bachelor's thesis is a one-case study of the approach to citizenship in the UK and the way it has been transformed by naturalization policies and migration. The issue of citizenship became the subject of many academic debates at the turn of the millennium due to the large influx of migrants and racial unrest in the country, and the subsequent introduction of citizenship tests was met with considerable controversy. The aim of this work is to map the much-discussed issue of naturalization in the UK and based on an analysis of the content of preparatory materials for the citizenship test, provide a very unique and comprehensive picture of how the approach to citizenship has changed over the years. The method of qualitative document analysis is used for the processing of publications for civic tests, and the manuals are examined by applying a predefined typology of citizenship and integration approaches in the theoretical part. The thesis assumes that due to concerns about the lack of integration of immigrant communities and the consequent tightening of measures to obtain citizenship status, there has been a change from a liberal and multicultural approach to more restrictive forms of approach to the concept of citizenship. Based on the established analysis of the work, it is concluded that the...
Nationality in sport environment
Straková, Bára ; Hamerník, Pavel (referee)
1 Abstract Nationality in sport environment The main task of this thesis is to consider the current state of nationality in sport environment with the respect to increasing numbers of international transfers of athletes and the following possible connections of nationality and sport eligibility. At the same time, I am trying to find the answer to question whether it is possible to create complex regulations within international sport law on this issue. The main sources for my research were international treaties, different national laws and also European Union Law. Since much of this work is influenced by lex sportiva it became an integral part of this work as well. Within the first and second chapter I am dealing with the concepts of nationality and naturalization in general, which are analyzed mainly in the light of international treaties, international customs and available case law. I am complementing this data with the findings of national regulations which have had great influence for the field of nationality. In the following text I am analyzing the concept of sport eligibility, mainly its content and significance in general and within this work. I am doing this with the help of the judgments of the Court of Arbitration for Sport and the doctrinal articles. In Chapter Five I am referring to possible...

State citizenship and modes of its acquisition in Czech Republic
Körbl, Hugo ; Kryska, David (referee)
State citizenship and modes of its acquisition in Czech Republic Abstract The topic of this thesis is the issue of the state citizenship and the modes of its acquisition in Czech Republic. The aim of this thesis is then a detailed analysis of all individual modes of the acquisition of the citizenship of Czech Republic according to the actually valid and effective legal regulation. For such purpose at first it is necessary to deal with the institute of the state citizenship itself, with its definition, respectively with the elements characterizing it, as well as with its historical evolution. It should be emphasized that there is no definition of the state citizenship that would be uniformly accepted. This is the reason why the Czech view on the issue of the state citizenship is often compared with the view of other states in this thesis. Finally there is often referred to the three most important judgments related to the issue of the state citizenship in this thesis, namely to the decision in the case of Nottebohm, Rottmann and Zhu and Chen. These decisions are mentioned not only from the reason of the effort to find the best definition of the state citizenship but also from the reason of the effort to provide with the best possible analysis of individual modes of the acquisition of Czech citizenship....
