My thesis focuses on the education of adults, with view to peculiarities of their development and with accent to the senior population. It deals with the impact of physiological changes in the period of interevium and senium, which significantly affect the level of learning and education, and subsequently also self confidence of an individual, activity of their approach towards old age and their perception of well-being. The author projects to her thesis her own feelings, attitudes, opinions and experiences. She works with mnemonics, which facilitate long-term memory and support healthy activity of an individual. She considers current needs of the senior population and has tried to depict them graphically in the form of a treetop. A survey in the form of a simple questionnaire was carried out among senior citizens in order to identify their interest in education and their understanding of learning as a prevention of active and healthy life in old age. The survey was participated in by 150 responders, mostly women, from the Center for Social and Nursing Services in Prague 10 and within the activities of the Civic Association Život 90. 9 ABSTRACT One of a child's basic psychological needs is the need for a stabile emotional bond. The theses researches if the children from private children's home Radost are able to establish such specific emotional bonds to the carers employed there. The Czech Radost children's home follows principles and guidelines established by a well know German children's home. This German facility places emphasis on nurturing the emotional bonds of children, and as such differs considerably from classic state institutions. The underlying assumption is that given the right conditions and support, children have a high chance to create specific emotional bonds. In order to gain the necessary data it was chosen the method of qualitative evaluation with participant observation as the prevailing research strategy. The data are triangulated with some other methods including: semi-structured interviews, analysis of file documentation and a modified version "Test of Family Relationships" (Kovařík, 1993). The data analysis is enriched with knowledge and experiences from two other children's homes abroad, where saturation of psychological needs of children is a priority (Danish and German model). The research is a continuation of the diploma theses (Zemánková, 2003), where the question of specific emotional bonds was examined...

This is a theoretical work. It deals with the topics of senior citizens and the aging process in an abbreviated conception, periodization of old age, and active life of seniors. It describes forms of social work with seniors in medical facilities, home environments and communities, and in old people's homes. Further, it describes memory: its definition, types of memory, memory loss, reasons why people forget, work with memory and advice on memory improvement from the medical point of view. The last chapter focuses on memory training. It describes the aim of memory training with seniors, benefits of memory training, memory training in home environment and in complex care. Next there are particular mnemonics and exercises focused on individual areas (concentration, senses, speech) with examples.
