Senior education as a symbol of active ageing

The thesis focuses on the attitudes of seniors towards active ageing in the region of Kolín and explores their views on this issue in the context of education and leisure activities. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the concepts of old age and ageing with emphasis on the concept of active ageing and describes its impact on the life of seniors. It also highlights the importance of lifelong learning and education of older individuals. The empirical part uses qualitative research, specifically semi-structured interviews with a total of eight participants. The aim of the work was to ascertain how people in old age imagine active ageing and how they involve themselves in this process. It was found that for these people, active and healthy ageing is particularly associated with the need to maintain physical and mental activity. Furthermore, the motivation of the research participants to participate in activities related to active ageing was analysed. This is related to their interest in new information and the need for social interaction. Accessibility of the venue and the health status of the elderly individuals were identified as the most significant barriers to participation in organized programs. The presented work deals with the issue of life of seniors in the Czech Republic. There are a number of changes associated with aging that affect an individual's quality of life. These are physical, psychological and social changes that manifest themselves in all areas of an individual's life. Probably the biggest change is retirement, which is accompanied by the search for a new meaning of life. The opportunity to study can help in this regard. Seniors can use a variety of forms of further education. However, they most often look for educational activities carried out within universities of the third age. In the presented work, the relationship between the quality of life of seniors and education within U3V will be determined. For this purpose, the data of the Czech Statistical Office concerning the quality of life of seniors will be analysed and a questionnaire survey among seniors will be carried out. The aim will be to find out the difference between perception of the quality of life of seniors attending universities of the third age and seniors who do not study at the universities of the third age.
Specifics of education and activation of seniors in residential facilities

The thesis deals with the issue of education and activation of seniors in residential facilities - homes for the elderly. In the theoretical part it deals with the quality of life of seniors, motivation for further education, intergenerational learning, the topic of aging and old age in the context of demographic, socio-political, health, cultural and legislative aspects. It is the demographic development of society that is a major impetus for change in the field of professional institutional care for the elderly. Specific integrative, counselling, therapeutic and rehabilitation approaches and conceptualisations of these topics are set within the framework of andragogy and gerontagogy. The research focuses on two target groups: on the one hand, the elderly themselves who have completed educational and activation programmes and on the professionals who implement or prepare (methodologically, managerially) these activities and activities. The aim of the thesis is to observe the interdisciplinary importance of education, animation and activation for the development of cognitive abilities of individuals and their quality of life. Possibilities of education and activation of seniors in social facilities

The diploma thesis is focused on mapping the possibilities and availability of education and activation of seniors in social services of selected social facilities in the South Moravian Region. The thesis monitors the offer of educational and activation programmes for the elderly in the South Moravian Region, especially in the Hodonín and Kyjov districts, their implementation and positive or negative impact on the elderly. In the theoretical part, I focus on the topic of old age, a very topical issue of ageing, the definition of essential educational and activation programmes and their importance and benefits, the quality of the programmes offered and the education and activation of seniors in the context of the applied science discipline. I mention the participants in the programs, highlighting the need for expertise in the field and a brief breakdown of the programs. Education of older adults in the area in of new media

In the paper characterized were chosen, most important determinants of educating seniors in the matter of new media. Learning and teaching of seniors were depicted through "non-formal system" created by Universities of Third Age (U3A). Actions of teacher and adult students connected with the effective learning about possibilities connected with new media discussed were in following dimensions: social changes, transformations of education of people in late adulthood, individual features of seniors and institutional and theoretical solutions in the matter of andragogy and educational gerontology. The book also contains a chapter in which described were transformations of society by new media and causes and results of digital exclusion among seniors. The crucial part of the paper is a practical answer to the question, how to educate seniors in "non-formal education system" in the matter of electronic media? To achieve this, presented was a complex methodical proposition derived from andragogical and geragogical theories with a reference to didactic practice of the author in computer sections of universities of third age. Seniors education on the example of theproject Third Age

This thesis presents senior education. Due to the increasing number of older people in our society, senior education has become important way how to keep them in an active lifestyle. The beginning of this thesis is devoted to the theoretical bases of senior education. There are explained terms like aging, old age, senior and introduced fundamental involution changes that relate to senior. The main part of this work is focused on the project Third Age, which has been implemented in the City Library in Louny. The implementation of the project joined in the region several hundred people and because of it the project became the largest such project in the district of Louny. The project is a successful example of good practice addressing seniors' education at the regional level. Empirical investigation finished off the main passage of the thesis. It is aimed at finding the motivation to education and its potential barriers that they perceive the project participants. The empirical part of the thesis was carried out by questionnaire survey. Barriers in the education of seniors

This diploma thesis is concerned with the barriers to education for the elderly . In the theoretical part there is introduced the theoretical framework of gerontology as well as other related issues i.e. the ageing, old age, quality of life and different forms of education for older adults. The practical segment of the thesis deals with the actual research and summary of the data obtained by the survey. The survey encompasses multiple aspects such as gender, age or in particular the age distribution within the group of elderly learners, or their highest level of educational attainment. The research aims at discovering whether the level of education acquired by seniors previously in life could somehow influence their desire to learn more in old age. Therefore , if there exists a stronger tendency to engage in further education among the vocational, highschool or university graduates. Other perspectives of the research are the geographical location of learners, their field of study or their motives behind the participation in the University of the Third Age studies. This rigorous thesis is entitled: Motivational Factors Influencing the Education of Seniors. The main goal of the rigorous thesis is to present the theoretical basis in the field of old age in the context of the senior age timeline with an emphasis on the senior education, didactic aspects and gerontagogy. The work is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part defines the issue of old age from a multidisciplinary perspective. Furthermore, there is a section on lifelong learning (education) dealing with the education of seniors, followed by a section devoted to didactic aspects of senior education. The conclusion of the theoretical part focuses on the specifics occurring in the education of seniors. The empirical part of this work is based on the combination of quantitative and qualitative methodology. A questionnaire survey was used as a tool for data collection. The aim of the empirical research of this rigorous work is to identify the factors influencing the education of seniors in the city of Jihlava and to formulate conclusions and recommendations for the monitored area of senior education.
