Methods of reducing traffic collapse within large cities
Hlaváček, Jiří ; Prokop, Aleš (referee) ; Řehák, Kamil (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis concerns methods of reducing traffic collapse within large cities. Due to the significant growth of amount of motor vehicles, especially passenger cars, transport infrastructure of cities is often being overloaded. In the research part of the thesis, possible approaches to this problem are described. Attention is paid to the congestion pricing and to the results of its application in various cities. Also, problem of the first and last mile in the city transport, parking strategy and cycling and pedestrian transport are described. The purpose of these methods is a reduction of the amount of passenger cars within the city, efficient utilization of alternative means of transport and improvement of the traffic flow. The research also includes chapter describing the attitude of particular cities. Common characteristics of these cities are emphasis on public transport, efficient transport infrastructure (linked up with the city plan), good conditions for pedestrians and cyclists and also an effort to make the life in the city as pleasant as possible (ecology, job-housing balance etc.). Practical part of the thesis is devoted to an application of findings on the City of Brno. Current drawbacks of the transport infrastructure of Brno and the strategy of its improvement are described there. As the additional possibilities of the improvement congestion pricing, improvement of the conditions for cyclists and construction of new carparks are proposed.

Udržitelná mobilita města Brna - individuální automobilová doprava a cyklodoprava
Francová, Lenka
Presented master thesis is focused on individual car and bicycle transport in the context of sustainable urban mobility in Brno. The theoretical part describes the historical context of transport, especially in the Czech Republic, as well as the theoretical basis for sustainable urban mobility and planning and legislative norms of transport. This thesis also deals with the social and environmental im-pacts and effects of transport. The practical part analyzes the two selected transport modes and, based on results of questionnaire survey, measures are proposed to intensify bicycle transport in Brno. Those suggestions are then con-fronted with opinions of professional experts.
The integration of retail net with bicycle transportation according to Bike&Shop conception
Švihelová, Sylva ; Spilková, Jana (advisor) ; Jech, Karel (referee)
The still increasing intensity of an individual motor transport (IMT) in cities becomes unsustainable. Moreover, the establishment of new retail centres (RCs) continues to escalate it, because their business policy is principally aimed to motorised costumers. Furthermore, a rapid turnover of goods, which enables low prices, along with a wide range of goods under one roof make RCs more attractive than traditional small shops in the inner-city. Therefore, these small shops have been shut down, and people must travel longer distances in order to reach the required services. The purpose of my thesis is to find a possibility how to replace by doing shopping the common automobile transport with cycling. This kind of transport is environmentally friendly and energy-saving, occupies less urban space, is accessible for everyone and also healthy, is reciprocally advantageous, it sustains quite large attraction zone, and up to 5 km it is even faster. In this thesis, for the first time defined Bike&Shop conception introduces the integration of retail net with bicycle transportation. It was inspired by already familiar Bike&Ride system. Bike&Shop concept illustrates advantages of shopping by bike, as well as instruments which can help to develop this way of shopping. The theoretical part is based on foreign...
Relationship between morphometric characteristics of the terrain and network analysis in GIS
Kufner, Jan ; Hudeček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Štych, Přemysl (referee)
The main objective of the diploma thesis is creation of methodology and automatization of calibration process of network graph based on the values of morphometric characteristics and motion vectors. The resulting morphometric values of the terrain have been detected on the basis of mathematical and cartographic methods for line course expression. The most accurate one has been used in GIS network analysis over the road network and digital terrain models, which were chosen as the most appropriate for this purpose. Relationship between morphometric values and values suitable for use in network analysis (speed, time, ...) has been studied using specific examples in appropriately selected territory with using selected vehicle, which was designated as a bicycle. The practical part for the verification of functionality of the suggested methodology has been compared with other models of accessibility, available web-map portals and route planners. The process of transport network evaluation based on selected parameters has been automated in Python programming language as a tool in ArcGIS software, which is attached to the diploma thesis. Potenciál města Zlína z hlediska cyklodopravy
Mizerová, Daniela
The dissertation deals with the bicycle as a means of transport in a specific environment in Zlín, a town located in the valley. The backbone cycle track runs along the river Drevnice and it is connected to the city route. Both the cycle track and the city route provide two basic functions -- transport and recreation. The user considers the flexibility and the safety when selecting round bike as a means of transport. It means the system must be integrated and it must be led through the space without collisions with other modes of transport. The bike must be secured at the place of its storage which is provided by the safety stands in Zlin. The recreation potential of the system can be increased by connecting to the bike path which runs along the Bata Canal and linking them with the interesting tourist targets around the city. Good awareness not only about tourist destinations but also about the overview of the entire network of cycle paths and lanes is ensured by Cyklo Zlín and it increases people's interest in issues of cycling.
Cyklodoprava v krajině a ve městě
Novotná, Miriama
The topic of this bachelor thesis is Bicycle Transportation in the Countryside and in the City. The introduction clarifies the basic terminology. From the technical perspective the thesis brings some light into planning requirements of touristic cycling paths and their basic parameters. Second part of the thesis is dedicated to analyze a larger selected area in terms of primary, secondary and tertiary structure. A model object of smaller area is delimitted and provides a base for another part developing a proposal. The last part describes a proposal of a touristic cycling path within the selected model object, specifically the area of Trnava surroundings in Slovakia. Based on discovered information and prepared plan, the task of this thesis is to estimate the potential for bicycle tourism of the model area.

Cost - benefit analysis of a chosen cycling path supported from ROP NUTS II Central Bohemia
Vaculík, Jan ; Květoň, Viktor (advisor) ; Pova, Patrik (referee)
This paper pursues the evaluation of acceptability of a project related to cycling infrastructure within the micro region of Čáslavsko. The theoretical part discuss development of cycling infrastructure in Czech Republic and abroad, investments into the cycling infrastructure and describes current situation of cycling infrastructure in Czech Republic. The practical part contains the case study concerning evaluation of return ability of the project. To analyse the effects were used methods of comparing costs and befits, outdoor observation and questioning of subjects influenced by realization of the project. The benefits are effects of the project related to life of residents and profits of local enterprises. Result of the analysis is unacceptability of the project from economical point of view. From social point of view the project can be evaluated as acceptable mainly because of its influence on improvement of health situation of residents and safety of cyclists in the region.
