Innovations in the transport industry
Fourth-generation biofuels for jet engines
Marko, Adam ; Mišík, Ondrej (referee) ; Malý, Milan (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the decarbonisation of air transport and the possible use of biofuels to power jet engines. As the use of the current fuel, kerosene, is time limited due to finite oil supplies, research and testing of its environmentally friendly successors is necessary. Equally important is the parallel development of compatible aviation and airport infrastructure, both in the form of airframes, engines and fuel systems and ground support equipment. In the event of a transition to a new type of aviation fuel, it is essential that it is technically advanced, affordable, environmentally sound, safe and has a wide supply chain. Currently, the scientific community is most focused on the use of sustainable aviation fuels SAF, hydrogen, ammonia, LNG and e-fuels. To qualify as a biofuel, the production process must be carbon neutral and the primary source of production must be renewable energy.
Analysis of the institute of extraordinary circumstances, or the curtailment of air passenger rights: Theory practice and future development
Bartošík, Lukáš ; Exner, Jan (advisor) ; Šmejkal, Václav (referee)
Title of the writing: Analysis of the institute of extraordinary circumstances or abbreviation of air passenger rights: Theory, practice and future directions Abstract Air passengers have a number of rights against air carriers under EU law. One of these rights is the right to a flat-rate compensation in the event of cancellation or significant delay of a flight. Cancellations or significant delays can be caused by a wide variety of circumstances. If these circumstances are extraordinary and could not have been prevented by the carrier using all reasonable measures, passengers are not entitled to compensation and the carrier is thus relieved of its obligation. Extraordinary circumstances in air transport are very often applied in practice as a means of relieving the carrier of its obligation to pay damages to air passengers. Unfortunately, this remedy is enshrined in the legislation in a very vague and indeterminate manner, in the form of vague legal terms. It can therefore be abused in practice to the detriment of passengers. The Court of Justice of the European Union, in the context of the preliminary ruling procedure, does interpret the institute, but again using general and vague terms, which requires further specification by means of further preliminary questions. This paper aims to explain the meaning...
Passengers' rights to compensation and assistence in air transport in the light of European Union Law
Petrovič, Ondřej ; Exner, Jan (advisor) ; Svobodová, Magdaléna (referee)
Passengers' rights to compensation and assistance in air transport in the light of European Union Law Abstract This thesis deals with the balance of rights and obligations of passengers and air carriers in Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 February 2004 establishing common rules on compensation and assistance to air passengers in the event of denied boarding and of cancellation or long delay of flights. The first part analyses the history of international and European aviation law together with their interrelationship. In the second part, the Compensation Regulation as such is analysed in detail. Its individual provisions are analysed together with related and recent case law. Particular attention is then paid to denied boarding, cancellation, and flight delays in the light of passengers' specific rights to compensation. In addition to the analysis of the individual provisions of the Compensation Regulation, the author's own reflection on possible improvements to the current regulation in the future and his own view on the aforementioned balance of the Compensation Regulation are included in the thesis. The third part of the thesis then deals with the specific possibilities of recovering individual compensation from the position of passengers and the...
Marketing Strategy of Low-cost Airline
Chaloupková, Markéta ; Zich, Robert (referee) ; Chlebovský, Vít (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the marketing strategy of low cost airlines. The theoretical part describes low cost air transport and also define marketing tools. The practical part is focused on the low cost airline Wizz Air. In practical part of the work is included a questionnaire survey. Based on the findings, were proposed possible marketing improvements for Wizz Air airline.
Design of methodology for selection of optimal economic and operational characteristics of of transport aircraft for short and medium routes
Mlýnek, Michal ; Šplíchal, Miroslav (referee) ; Chlebek, Jiří (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the multicriterial selection of the optimal variant of a appropriate airplane on short and medium haul routes. Here is a preview of airlines' strategies that indirectly enter the optimization tool. Further work describes the division of airlines into categories. The work at the end describes in more detail the optimization tool and the procedure for use.
The impact of storm electricity on air transport
Fiala, Ľuboš ; Imriš, Pavel (referee) ; Krška, Karel (advisor)
The bachelor thesis aims to clarify the issue of storm electricity as the side effect of cumulonimbus. It describes formation, types, structure, and phases of storm clouds, as well as formation of electric discharge and rare electrometeors. Furthermore, it is focused on the ways of forecast and lightning localisation and their effects on air transport, along with given regulations during flight in storms.
Air Traffic Flows Analysis
Šimíček, Martin ; Chlebek, Jiří (referee) ; Kujal, Tomáš (advisor)
ŠIMÍČEK, M. Air Traffic Flows Analysis. Brno: Brno University of Technology, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, 2013. 84 s. Supervisor Ing. Tomáš Kujal, Ph.D. The diploma thesis discusses the factors that affect routing and transport performance in the air transport. Besides the characteristics of these factors the main objective of this thesis is to quantitatively evaluate their level of dependence on the traffic performance of air transport. This is done by using the linear regression analysis. Based on this analysis, mathematical models of dependence of these factors on traffic performance are developed. The thesis also verifies the accuracy of these models and tries to find out which of them are usable and which are not. Their accuracy is mainly dependent on the selected track and on the type of airline.
Evaluation of GDP depending on the operating performance of air transport
Tomanová, Veronika Anna ; Šplíchal, Miroslav (referee) ; Chlebek, Jiří (advisor)
The diploma thesis describes performance in the area of air transport, based on performance of national economies of two selected neighbouring countries, Czech Republic and Germany, through comparison of their gross domestic product in the selected time period. The operating performance is focused mainly on transportation performance of air transport. First part of the thesis is dealing with interconnection of economy with air transportation. Crucial part of the work contains analysis of development of GDP and analysis of development of transportation performance of both countries. Part of the thesis is also acquisition of passenger-kilometre data derived from fuel consumption and produced emissions of CO2.
