The Relationship between the Holy See and France at the Beginning of the 20th Century

The thesis will focus on the development and transformation of diplomatic relations between France and the Holy See at the beginning of the 20th century. The author will analyze the assumptions of separation between the two mentioned countries, which occurred in December 1905, and caused the exclusion of the Church from political life in the country. The aim of the work will be analysis, description and interpretation of changes of relations between the two countries in the years 1904/1905-1921 including the restoration of diplomatic relations and the stabilization of relations after a long and dramatic rupture, which has not been processed in contemporary Czech ecclesiastical historiography up-to-day.
Attitude of the Catholic Church towards the Vichy regim

Following thesis deals with relationship between the Catholic Church and a regime established in a part of France during the Second World War. The purpose of the thesis is to analyse main origins of attitude of the Catholic Church towards Vichy France. This attitude is generally considered to be positive. The thesis examines this question only on level of episcopacy. Other levels of possible research are knowingly omitted because of a limited extent of this text. The author emphasizes three main problems of relationship between the Catholic Church and the Vichy regime. Firstly, the thesis focuses on the process of convergence of the Church and the state, secondly this congruity is confronted with moments of clash of opinion between these two elements. Finally, the last chapter deals with post-war situation in France which is connected with purification of the catholic hierarchy. Reformation. Conditions of its rise and common features of reformations' growth.

The thesis traces the beginnings of these reformation movements: Waldensians, Hussites, Unity of Brethren, Lutherans and Anabaptists. It also deals with the situation in Roman Catholic church since all the movements spring out of it. Furthermore the author is answering the question whether these movements have a common denominator, that links them together. Mission and goals of the Order of Malta

This bachelor thesis deals with the mission, goals and tasks of the chivalric and hospitaller Order of Malta from its foundation until the conquest of Malta in 1798. It examines the development of the main tasks of the Order and their transformation depending on the current international situation and the location of the seat of the Order. The thesis deals with the form of these tasks in each of the seats of the Order (in the Holy Land, on Rhodes and on Malta), as well as with their transformation in the environment of the Commanderies on the European continent. The main emphasis is laid on the development of the two main branches of the order's mission, tasks of hospitaller nature and the military ones. The primary goal of the thesis is exploration of the overall development of these goals and tasks and the comparison of their development in the seats of the Order and the European Commanderies.

Madelaine Delbrêl - inspiration for lay spirituality Abstract Madeleine Delbrêl is one of significant personalities in the Catholic Church in the twentieth century. Her way of life and her thoughts, in particular those regarding universal vocation to sainthood and mission influenced the Second Vatican Council. Her prophetic inspiration about lay dignity based on baptism was after thirty years expressed in many council documents and so contributed to a change of lay status in the Church. Charles University in Prague, Catholic Theological Faculty Thesis, Prague 2013 ABSTRACT Ecclesiology of Tomáš Bavorovský († 1562) Jaroslav Havrlant Catholic preacher Tomáš Bavorovský (Thomas of Bavorov) is still a quite unknown personality of Bohemian renaissance. He is the representative of the Church loyal to the Pope in Rome shortly before the end of the Trident council and the arrival of Jesuits to Prague. The result of my study aimed at his ecclesiological approach is my thesis, which contains five chapters. The first three chapters are concerned with common historical facts of his time as well as with life and work of the preacher. The others focus on his interpretation of the Church and the Kingdom of God. The first chapter describes specific situation of Bohemian reformation, which was different from the neighboring countries because of its Hussite tradition and Utraquistic Church. Tomáš Bavorovský worked mostly in Catholic south and west Bohemian towns (Bavorov, Český Krumlov, Jindřichův Hradec, Plzeň). Therefore I describe in short also their religious history in this chapter. The part concerning the personality of the preacher starts with describing him as a writer. The religious life in South Bohemia in the period 1948-1989

The thesis Religious Life In South Bohemia In The Period of 1948-1989 deals with the issue of limitations of Catholic religious life from the Czechoslovak state. Due to the fact that after the February 1948 the Communist goverment begun to publish "new canon laws" and started targeted restrictions in the church life, it influenced countless life stories of believers. By using the method of oral history, studying achival sources of South Bohemian Regional National Committee and history literature, in my thesis I was trying to approach at least some aspects of that time in the lives of seven witnesses comprising four catholic priest and three laymen. The work presents the life of both saints Zdislava and Elizabeth of Thuringia, and also the external context, which largely affected their lives. Saints are described here in their wide range, both through our history and the history of European nations. The structure's work corresponds to a defined plan. The first chapter deals with the contemporary background and major events that occurred just before their birth and their lives. The following two chapters depict Zdislava own and Elizabeth's life, their work. The next chapter describes the work of saints in the social field. The fifth chapter is devoted to a comparison of the two saints with Saint Agnes. The last chapter contains evaluation figures Zdislava and Elizabeth of Thuringia and their significance for today. The concept of the work is based on the conviction that the stereotypes describing the lives of the saints can be overcame. The author seeks a new perspective on the work and life of both saints - Zdislava and Elisabeth. The Art Nouveau ecclesiastical architecture in Czech Republic (Bohemia) The diploma thesis focusses on Art Nouveau religious architecture in Bohemia. It deals with the cultural and art movements between 1890-1920 which íncludes the late Historicism, Art Nouveau, and Modernism. The first part of the diploma thesis presents the influences which affected the development of Art Nouveau religious architecture in Bohemia and its architects. It also introduces architectural elements that are typical for Art Nouveau religious architecture. The second part of the diploma thesis presents religious buildings in the particular regions of Bohemia and describes them subsequently in the catalogue that is arranged chronologically. The diploma thesis "Comparison of the pastoral and charitable care for the elderly in the Archdiocese of Prague" enquires into the relation between the pastoral and charitable care for the elderly in the Archdiocese of Prague and the quality of accessible local services. It seeks to define the meaning of being old in the 21st century, deals with the questions of ageing and old age and the perception of these phenomenons in the broad social context. The thesis underlines the dignity of old men as well as their specific psychological and spiritual needs. The second part of the paper inquires into the principles of the charitable and pastoral care and it tries to sort out the accessible services. The last, empirical part contains the methodology and interpretation of the research among the charitable and pastoral institutions and parishes.
