Media representations of actors involved in the Transgas conflict

The diploma thesis titled Media representations of actors involved in the Transgas conflict is focused on the image of the possible demolition of the brutalist Transgas buildings in Prague in the most read Czech printed daily newspapers between years 2015 and 2019. This case raised a debate on landmark protection of buildings made during the previous communist regime. Many different subjects got involved in the case - from the general public to authorities and actors from commercial sphere. The presented research is therefore focused on construction of their identities. The aim of this study is to answer this question: "How did media constructed the image of actors of the Transgas conflict?". Research is based on discourse analysis method, which was applied to 109 articles published between 2015 and 2019 on the pages of Mladá fronta DNES, Právo, Hospodářské noviny and Lidové noviny. The main result of this method is to identify main categories of subjects and to analyse their media representations.

French architect Odile Decq exhibits in the Art House in Ostrava

Parisian Odile Decq (1955) searches tirelessly and relentlessly for a simple yet creative solution to architectural projects that blend in design, art and urbanism. The original handwriting gave her a number of international awards, such as the Golden Lion, as part of the Venetian Biennale of Architecture. The Odile DECQ / Horizons Studio can be visited at the Art House in Ostrava until June 3.

Předmětem zjišťování jsou činnost divadel a hudebních souborů a aktivity profesionálního výtvarného umění a architektury. Mezi nejvýznamnější šetřené ukazatele patří údaje o počtu zaměstnanců, zřizovaných souborů, provozovaných scén a sálů, odehraných představení, návštěvníků, oborů a žánrů, počtu koncertů a počtu hudebních nahrávek.

The Slavic Epic as a task of architecture

The work at hand deals in a broader way with the placement of the Slavic Epic from an architectural point of view. The author first focuses on the role of historical monumental canvases in relation to the formation of the national identity and looks in this respect at some Czech monumental canvases before the Slavic Epic was painted. Another chapter deals primarily with the Slavic Epic. It presents a detailed view on a difficult process of finding a tailor-made exhibition space for the monumental canvas from the point Alfons Mucha started with its painting until the present time. It also shows specific demands on a building in which the Slavic Epic should have been placed. The next chapter presents all projects that have been made so far to build a new exhibition space for the Slavic Epic. Based on the analysis of this work the final chapter describes author's own ideal proposal of a complex architectural solution of the exhibition space which also encompasses exhibition management and marketing.

Contribution to the origin and temporary state of the former monastery in Pivoň Abstract This Thesis is contributing to the issue of establishment of former Pivon Monastery,belonging to the Order of st. Augustin between years 1266-1787. Its' origin is a bit older, probably connected with Wilhelmite order, but there still remains a possibility of another, unknown founder. To this topic exist many relevant articles, the same as architectonical surveys but without any strict solution. The oldest visible architectonic parts survived till our days in presbytery of the monastic Church of Annunciation. In the time of writing this Thesis is the area of former monastery put up for auction and its' state is unfavourible, due to the sequences of events in 20th century and unfinished renovation from previous decade. That's why is this Thesis also focused on the poor state of properties of the Monastery area and church and is trying to figure out at least theoretical solution to current situation from the view of monument care.

This thesis studies the possibilities of education in the field of Czech cubism in museum and school environment. Czech cubism is a phenomenon that cannot be found in any other place in the world. The aim of this thesis is to bring this cultural monument and its basics to the primary and secondary schools and to the public. An educational programme is presented, that contains the theory, visual art assignments and an assignment booklet. The project is focused on realisation of our cultural tradition and visual art originality. Cultural and Historical Development of Vršovice in the Years 1922-1977

The bachelor thesis will follow the cultural and historical development of Vršovice in the years 1922-1977, when Vršovice becomes a part of Great Prague. I analyze the key buildings that were built in this era. In the second part I will deal with the economic crisis and its consequences for Vršovice, which had a fatal impact on culture and led to the Second World War. I will also mention the memories of witness Bohumil Kobliha, a witness to the May Uprising 1945 in Vršovice. In the second part of the thesis I will deal with the building development in the 1950s and 1960s until 1977, when the construction of G 57 prefabricated houses ended. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the cultural and historical development of Vršovice in five decades. Architecture of Power: The Power of Architecture and its effective Use in Law Abstract This thesis is concerned with the relationship between law and architecture and their mutual effects. It is focused on the subject of the prison system where these two fields intertwine, and concludes that the prison system should react to the changing conception of punishment and adapt the appearance of prison buildings. The thesis is divided into six parts which are further subdivided into chapters and subchapters. The first part introduces generally architecture and its mission. First, it deals with the concept itself then with the circumstances under which architecture arises, and also the functions that architecture has in society. It also deals with the impact of a space on humans, with the interconnection of architecture and power or with the representative role of some buildings. This part is a general introduction and it illustrates the nature of the chosen topic of this thesis. The second part deals with the relationship between law and architecture, i.e. how architecture projects into law.
