Art, architecture and design in the space age
Wollner, Jan ; Lahoda, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Hubatová - Vacková, Lada (referee)
Cosmic inspiration influenced huge amount of different artistic material. It was the only one topic, which went through categories such as high art and popular culture, fine and applied arts, all the medias, official and independent production, state ideology and interest of common man. Thesis tries to go through these categories high and low, fine and applied, official and independent. It divils its material into thematic chapters to achieve this goal. First of them Expand your mind deals with projects of visionary architecture, which does not try to create new "cosmic" kapes but expand - with Marshall McLuhan -man's mind and senses. Then Gravitationless state describes petting loose of Earth as principal feeling of space age. Peace and Freedom play role of contradictory ideological terms to fights between politicians, artists and spaceships. How Does Space Look Like is a question for representation of cosmic topics between abstraction and realism ant the last charter Space for Children does not show reduced version of space for children but "adult" ideological construction of connection between the youngest generation and future in space. Individual chapters are preceded by theoretical introductin The World Where We Will Live Tommorow and The Word We Live In. It is a confrontation of...
Insects as human food
Augustinová, Šárka ; Pivnička, Karel (referee) ; Frouz, Jan (advisor)
Insects as a traditional source of food widespread in tropical and subtropical regions offer significant nutritional, economical and ecological gains not only to rural communities. Western bias against insects led to gradual reduction of usage of insects as food without any compensation for lost sources of nutrition and other benefits. Current efforts of the Western world to prevent starvation of population and undo the consequences of inconsiderate human interventions into the environment are often futile and ineffective. One of possible answers to these global problems could be reestablishment of insects as a food source for the native population. Insects offer a renewable source of protein with nutritional values as high as 3186kJ per 100g of solids which exceeds the values of most species traditionally cultivated. The protein content varies throughout the various insect species from 30% in wood-worms to 81% in wasps of the genus Polybia. Moreover, the quality of these proteins is very high and the high values of the amino acids contained outperform the FAO recommended designs. Many species contain important minerals such as calcium, sulfur, iron, phosphor, magnesium and zinc and are as well rich in B vitamins, niacin, riboflavin and thiamin, which are often not incorporated enough into standard meal...
Collaborative Interaction among Users in Virtual 3D Scene
Tóth, Michal ; Beran, Vítězslav (referee) ; Pečiva, Jan (advisor)
The goal of this bachelor's thesis was to get familiarized with graphical library OpenSceneGraph, windowing library Qt and possibilities of network communication. And to demonstrate possibilities of these libraries on simple application. Basic traits of used libraries and tools are explained to the reader. Design and implementation of application -- network game are descriped later in thesis.
Re Vision
Švehla, Jakub ; Šrámek, Jan (referee) ; Kögler, Žaneta (advisor)
In form of 3D animation the thesis depicts the steps of mankind towards the expansion of civilization beyond planet Earth. Chronologically it exposes essential moments of technological development (in major) preceding the journey for the distant planets. Images of today's state of civilization are combined with constructions of former theoretical concepts and with fully fictitious elements to form visuals illustrating the roadmap to extraterrestrial expansion.
The Fragile Line
Tůmová, Helena ; Kovanda, Jiří (referee) ; Gabriel, Michal (advisor)
The project of my diploma thesis Fragile Line is a continuation of my bachelor thesis Limits of Normality in which I compiled part of the drawn black and white imaginary world of a 10-year old boy Jára with Asperger syndrome and created its colourful 3D visualisation. Fragile Line is for me some imaginary border between the real world and Jára`s fictional world. In my diploma work I created three planets from Jára`s space system, intentionally I used different technology and range of colours for each of them because children like disparity and variety.
Mathematical Methods and Exercises in Astronomy
BROM, Jiří
The aim of this thesis is to create collections of examples for the subject Astronomy taught for students of pedagogical faculties, studying this discipline as a part of physics courses. Due to very different mathematical knowledge of students I have chosen typical and not much difficult examples oriented to several branches of astronomy. Each part of examples begins with a self-contained theoretical introduction. The difficulty rises gradually from trivial to more complicated examples. The examples are mainly focused on motions in radial gravitational fields.
Obamova reforma vesmírné politiky
Nguyen, Hoai Nam
Nguyen, H., Obama's reform of space policy. Bachelor thesis. Brno: Mendel Uni-versity, 2015. The topic of this bachelor thesis is an analysis of Obama's reform of space policy and its changes and whether it had a positive effect on the costs of US space transportation. The first part of thesis focuses on the description of changes in US space policy before and after Obama's reform and the theory of space policy in general. The second part compares the costs of US space transportation before and after the reform and its impact on the fiscal policy of the United States of America.
Jacques Tati's universe
Tesáček, Roman ; DAŇHEL, Jan (advisor) ; DOLENSKÝ, Martin (referee)
This bachelor thesis analysis Jacques Tati's masterpiece Playtime. It is searching, exploring and identifying its artistic instruments, technique and whole style that creates Tati's universe. It describes how elements function, how they are connected and how they interact with each other. All this thesis are demonstrated on examples and illustrations. There are numbers of quotations of great film director (Robert Bresson, Andrej Tarkovskij) whose thoughts are closely connected to Jacques Tati's work.
Space Tourism
Ciba, Tomáš ; Bakos, Tomáš (advisor) ; Herget, Jan (referee)
This diploma thesis analyzes the actual travelling possibilities into space for space tourists. Following a general clarification of key concepts in the area of cosmonautics, aeronautical technology and physics as well as definition of space tourism and space tourist, this thesis deals with travelling to the International Space Station by means of the Russian spaceship Sojuz TMA. A review for the significant initiative Ansari X Prize follows, which became the moving power for emergence of private companies in the field of manned cosmonautics. After that, a cross-sectional analysis of the most successful space project in the Ansari X Prize Competition by Virgin Galactic, being the leader on the nascent market of commercial suborbital flights, is performed. Virgin Galactic offers its clients so called suborbital jumps on the threshold of space for the fragment of high price in comparison with a several-day stay on the ISS. The thesis is concluded by author's questionnaire involving two groups of experts: technical experts as well as marketing and product development professionals in the field of tourism.
The Black Holes
JURČA, Miroslav
The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to summarize the knowledge about the final phases of stellar evolution with a diferent masses especially to a very massive stars. We describe the Universe since the Big Bang, the formation of protons and neutrons, forming the stars and their final phases. In particular, we emphasise to a very massive stars which collapses itself, under their own gravity to the event horizon and may become the black holes. This work also describes the possible detection of black holes and gravitational waves, generated by the relative motion of very massive stars in a gravitational field.
