Retinal nerve fiber layer measurement in patients with Alzheimer's disease The current ophthalmologist's possibilities in diagnostics of Alzheimer's disease Alzheimer disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia syndrome and mild cognitive impairment. To enroll the disease most securely there are used so called biomarkers using evidence of changed brain metabolism by pozitron emission tomography (PET) and in cerebrospinal fluid or the brain's structure magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). These methods are expensive, organisationally and temporally challenging and burdening for the patients. According to that reasons we are still seeking for alternative attitudes suitable for early diagnosis. The evaluation of thickness of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) which is well accessible to examination through optical aparatus of the eye could be one of the options. The aim of our work was to present current knowledges about Alzheimer's disease targeting relations of Alzheimer's disease and an ophthalmological finding. In the next part of this paper we introduce the retinal nerve fiber layer measurement by optical coherence tomography (OCT) as a potential diagnostics method by screening of patients with Alzheimer's disease and to present our results measured in our cohort of patients. The studied cohort...

Furthermore I expanded the thesis with interview with selected expert. Using open questions the area of supervision and burnout syndrome is being discussed. The primary target of this thesis is to contribute to the prevention of burnout syndrome and also to map, whether supervision is being used in day-care facilities and whether it helps preventing the burnout syndrome.

Jarolímová, Eva ; Šulová, Lenka (advisor) ; Dragomirecká, Eva (referee) ; Jeřábek, Hynek (referee)
Due to its limiting effects on the independency of life, the Alzheimer's disease has a radical impact on a diseased person. Their dependency on others influences all their family members, though especially those ones, who are taking immediate part in the caregiving for their relatives. The new changes in the family caregivers' lifestyle have an extensive influence on their health and the care about the diseased itself. In this empirical study we intended to examine the presence and the intensity of a burden, an anxiety and a depression among the family caregivers, who are being provided with psychosocial and other professional help. It's a transverse survey among the 102 family caregivers caring for their relatives with diagnosed Alzheimer's disease or some other form of dementia. The caregivers were tested for the level of subjective burden by Zarit Burden Inventory (ZBI) and for the anxiety and the depression by Beck Depression Inventory (BDI II), Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), the results were processed with the statistical analysis and Pearson correlation coefficient. In the study sample there were 83 % of women and 62 % of the caregivers were older than 50 years. According to our findings 86 % of people caring for less than 2 years and 89 % of people caring...

Human rights for persons with cognitive impairment in the social services
Čápová, Helena ; Dobiášová, Karolína (advisor) ; Tušková, Eva (referee)
In modern European society, there is not the slightest doubt that all people, regardless of gender, age, race, and health status have the same rights as guaranteed, which are called human rights. According to the existing laws and agreements (referred to in the work) and according to the generally accepted rules, the human rights are inalienable, with the exception of serious and precisely specified reasons. This work deals with the problem of how to balance this elementary right with the fact that for people with cognitive impairment it is sometimes necessary to carefully consider some form of restriction of their rights. The aim of this work is to find a definition of the human rights for the elderly with cognitive impairment. Secondary objectives are to describe the social services standards in relation to human rights and the subjects who are involved in supervising the observance of the rights, and the current status. The selected issues were viewed through the implementation theory, the concept of street-level bureaucracy, and the quality of life. The thesis is based on analysis of available secondary data and expert interviews. The acquired data show that although in the Czech Republic there are a number of institutions dealing with human rights, only a few of them are concerned with the rights of...
