Topic of antiquity in the literature for children and youth from the second half of 19th century till 1945

This dissertation is focused on a comparison of the ancient theme in children's literature during the second half of the 19th century until 1945. The theoretical part focuses on the comparison and evaluation of the religious, political and cultural situation in the Czech lands, whose background was created children's literature with themes from antiquity. The practical part deals with the comparison of the most important works of Czech and Slovak authors, who were devoted to children's literature with themes from antiquity within the range. Antiquity in History Textbooks of the First Czechoslovak Republic (1918 - 1938)

The diploma thesis focuses on didactic and summary analysis of antiquity in elementary school's history textbooks and their comparison. The theoretical part consists of the changes of school system, History education and antique languages from the second part of nineteenth century until the era of the First Czechoslovak Republic. The practical part discusses didactic and summary analysis of selected textbooks. The summary analysis focuses on proportion of political and cultural history, depiction of the historical icons, references and parrarels to the time, when the particular textbook was written and also the way of presentation of each nation (mainly Greeks, Romans, Germans). A Reconstruction of the Crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth from the Archeological Evidence and Ancient Literary Sources

The thesis A Reconstruction of the Crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth from the Archeological Evidence and Ancient Literary Sources deals in nine chapters with the crucifixion phenomenon. Due to its dual approach it is divided into two major parts - general and specific. General part firstly presents the latest scientific treatises dedicated to this phenomenon (1), afterwards introduces the only archaeological evidence of crucifixion (2), analyzes semantical span of terms related to crucifixion (3) and ultimately defines the crucifion penalty (4). Specific part deals with the events of Jesus of Nazareth's case following the pronouncement of judgement. Attention is firstly paid to the flogging penalty (5) and afterwards to the analysis of the royal mockery game (6). Further it focuses on the transition scene, mainly on search for topography of the Way of the Cross (7). The Golgota chapters initially pay attention to the psychological abuse, perception of the crucifixion punishment, resemblance of Jesus' cross (8) and afterwards to the physical abuse and the search for causes of Jesus' death from the medical point of view (9). War Chariots in Early China

Purpose of this thesis is to question the real fighting effeciency of war chariots in ancient China on basis of written sources, archeological findings and foreign literature. Thesis also describes topic of war chariots in ancient China. Main source of a thesis is Zuǒ Zhuǎn 左轉 chronicles. Thesis consists of five chapters in which author introduces topic of war chariots in China. In last chapter author presents his arguments why he believes war chariot was an effective weapon and he proposes a way how war chariot could have been tactitaly used on battlefields in the times of ancient Zhōu 周 dynasty. Main purpose of his thesis author sees in assisting with his opinion in the ongoing discussion on the usnolved topic of effectivity of chinese war chariot. Different scholars who took interest in this topic and released related works are Anthony J. Barbiery-Low (2000), Edward L. Shaughnessy (1988), Magdalene von Dewall (1964), Herlee G. Mythological Inspiration in the poetry of Lorenzo de' Medici

The first part of this master thesis is focused on the personality of Lorenzo deʼ Medici and his inclusion in the period and cultural contexts. The literary background of Italy in the 15th century is introduced, as well as the Lorenzo's life, the summary of his literary output and his contribution as a patron of the Florentine culture and arts. The second part analyzes four of the Lorenzoʼs works related to mythological themes going back until the ancient writers. Lorenzoʼs evident influence by these authors is illustrated with the specific quotations but at the same time his own innovations in texts and stories are referred to. The conclusion compares an extend of this influence on him and the contribution of his own invention to the particular works. It points out the uniqueness of the personality of Lorenzo deʼ Medici both in the cultural and literary spheres as well.

The aim of this bachelor's work is to describe the origins of proto-stoneware in the chinese bronze age. This work includes a summary of past approachestaken concerning proto-stoneware and puts forward a proposition for unification of current terminology. Following an introduction to proto-stoneware as a medium used in production of pottery and an introduction to the localities where such pottery has been unearthed, a detailed description of such pottery is provided. In pursuit of this course there is a an emphasis constantly being put onthe broadercultural context and on inspiration being drawn from forms used when working with some other materials.In the conclusion to this work, with respect to the previous analyses and findings, the author offers his standpointconcerning origins of northern proto-stoneware, that being a question that stands out in every attempt in researching this material. History and present of classical and alternative medicine in the training of the workers in the health service

The aim of the theoretical part of this bachelor thesis is to present a comparison of selected problems of the processing of medicine on one hand and the topic of health and diseases in the specific historical periods on the other hand. Besides, this thesis follows a historical development of the support the health care in the ancient and medieval periods. It conducts the survey of the causes of the illnesses, as well as their development and diversity in the selected historical periods. It points out the different approaches of people and the society in general to health and illnesses in the view of the historical background. In this context it presents a comparison of the approaches to alternative medicine and tries to find the differences of the alternative and scientific medicine. The research part of this thesis deals with the extent of the awareness of the antique legacy of the natural healing by medical workers, using the application of selected methods via questionnaire. Reception of classical culture in the Czechoslovak/Czech television of Prague created

This work focuses on original television dramatic production of domestic authors, which was created in The Czechoslovak/Czech Television of Prague, and which is based on themes related with the history of ancient Greece and Rome. The aim is to study thoroughly this production - especially to discover how many inscenations of ancient subject The Czechoslovak/Czech Television of Prague created, what the topics are, and which authors participated on it; whereas a single chapter concentrates on each inscenation. Every chapter contains the comparison of the storyline of an inscenation and historical facts (i.e. the approach of scriptwriters to ancient realia and the procedure during its reception); it further contains the circumstances of an inscenation's origin, if contemporary critics know them from available sources and the acceptance of an inscenation. The work is also complemented by a chapter, which specifies the basis of television aesthetics.
