Media freedom in the Visegrád Group countries from the perspective of journalists
Voráček, Michal ; Vochocová, Lenka (advisor) ; Groman, Martin (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with media freedom in the Visegrád Group countries (Czechia, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary) from the perspective of professional journalists. It aims to map how journalists in these four countries perceive freedom in relation to their profession - how they understand the concept of freedom of expression, what threatens freedom of expression or freedom of the media according to them, how free they feel in their profession and what is the trend regarding media freedom in the coming years in their opinion. The theoretical part thoroughly captures the historical development of freedom of expression, its legal protection in constitutional documents and international conventions, the limits of freedom of expression as well as forms of its restriction. It also introduces the most important non-governmental non- profit organizations monitoring media freedom in the world and presents the media environment in each country. The theoretical part also pursues the perception and approach of professional journalists to freedom of expression, media freedom and other journalistic concepts and values. The analytical part then follows a journalistic professional discourse in the form of a qualitative analysis based on semi-structured in-depth interviews with active journalists from the Visegrád...

Hrabcová, Tereza ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Kalibová, Květa (referee)
Planned parenthood in Visegrad Group countries Abstract The main goal of this thesis is to characterise the changing approach to family planning in individual Visegrad Group countries from the 1950s to the present and then compare them to each other. The theoretical part focuses on factors that had major influence on both the formation of families and the time of having children in the countries studied. The analytical part deals with the development of demographic indicators of fertility, abortion and the estimated development of contraceptive use based on the surveys carried out. The analysis shows that during the socialist era, the approach about family planning was similar in the countries, but from the early 1990s it began to differentiate more. The biggest differences from other countries were recorded in Poland, probably due to the Catholic Church. Keywords: planned parenthood, Visegrad Group, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, fertility, induced abortion, contraception

Approaches to the Hungarian minority in Slovakia in issues of minority education and the possibility of subsequent application in the working process
Dlábik, Ľubomír ; Irmanová, Eva (advisor) ; Balla, Petr (referee)
This diploma thesis clarifies the issue of Triadic nexus among Slovakia, Hungary and the Hungarian minority concerning education and economic access to areas inhabited by the Hungarian minority, which affect the graduates of minority schools in the Slovak labor market. At the same time it aspires to refer to this relationship as one of the factors that may impact on reduction in the number of members of the Hungarian minority in Slovakia. The main focus is on the trilateral approach to the issue of education in the Slovak minority schools in Hungarian language in case of teaching the state language. The consequences of the different trilateral relation approach to minority education can lead to inefficiency of minority schools teaching Slovak language, which can, in conjunction with the current economic approach of Slovakia to the areas inhabited by the Hungarian minority, lead to migratory pressures on graduates of minority schools as for the choice of university studies and their employability. The lack of language skills reduces their competitiveness and flexibility compared to linguistically better equipped individuals. The statistical data in education, employment and population movements that will be analyzed and compared, are freely available, and confirm this hypothesis.
Yugoslavian model of socialism as an inspiration for economic reforms in the 60's years of the 20th century in NDR, ČSSR and Hungary
Uxa, Šimon ; Kocian, Jiří (advisor) ; Polášek, Martin (referee)
This dissertation - The Yugoslavian model of Socialism as possible inspiration for economic reforms of the sixties in the German Democratic Republic, Czechoslovakia and Hungary - deals with the topic of creating certain modifications and specific features of the economic systems within the Eastern Bloc. The so called Yugoslavian experiment, which had developed in the Balcan state from the times of the Soviet-Yugoslavian rift of the late forties of last century, was, in fact, considered to be the only alternative to the predominant, directively centralized Soviet model for several years. It was in the sixties when many Eastern Bloc states, which practically hitherto copied the Soviet economic model, attempted to implement economic reforms which would assisst in eliminating disadvantages of the current economic system, and thus to stabilize and streamline the economic development. It is quite natural that for searching new possibilities and incentives, the Yugoslavian self-governing model represented one of potential inspiring ways how to reform the often nonfunctional economic systems. The main purpose of the dissertation is to show how the planners of economic reforms in the German Democratic Republic, Czechoslovakia and Hungary recfleted the Yugoslavian model tested in practice, and to which...
Comparison of the position of the current Hungarian minority in Vojvodina and Transylvania
Hanušová, Tereza ; Kocián, Jiří (advisor) ; Klípa, Ondřej (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the position of the Hungarian minority in Serbian Vojvodina and Romanian Transylvania using the comparative method. Hungarians in Serbia and Romania represent a very large national minority and they became an integral part of the local culture and society. The level of Hungarian minority rights in the host countries is compared in four areas: legislation, political representation and institutionalization of the minority, mother tongue education opportunities and the Hungarian minority media. Apart from a brief outline of the historical context, the work focuses exclusively on the period after the fall of communism in both states to the present. During these years, there has been the biggest shift in the area of minority rights. The concept of ethnic parallelism is applied to all researched areas. Related to this, the so-called ethnolinguistic vitality approach is used, which deals with the conditions for the preservation of minority languages in the majority society. Special attention is paid to the influence of the Hungarian government under Primer Minister Viktor Orbán on the life of Hungarians abroad, which is significantly growing.

Németh, Renáta Erzsébet ; Mlejnek, Josef (advisor) ; Stauber, Jakub (referee)
The bachelor's thesis entitled Simplified Process of Naturalization of Foreign Hungarians and Its Influence on Hungarian Parliamentary Elections in 2018 is a one-case descriptive- analytical study of the influence of minority Hungarian voters on Hungarian parliamentary elections in 2018. The thesis deals with the activistic naturalization policies of the Hungarian kin-state and its kin-minorities and with the issue of their partial suffrage. In order to gain a deeper understanding of the context, the work also narrates the historical development of the minority and naturalization policies of post-revolutionary Hungarian governments and analyzes the electoral system of the state. The conclusion of this bachelor thesis contains a discussion and comparison of the results of the last two parliamentary elections and their link to the new naturalization policies. The conclusion contains verification or falsification of the hypothesis: In 2018, newly naturalized foreign Hungarians helped the Fidezs-KDNP coalition to a constitutional majority in the parliament.

The main benefit of the thesis is the comparison of countries with different attributes that have been used by various authors of empirical studies, which provide a broader view in evaluating the success of the transformation of foreign trade.
