The Rhetorics of Suffering in Psalms

Psalms have fascinated many for centuries. They are the prayers of the people of Israel, widely used in Christianity as well. The psalms are not only a source of inspiration but above all the concentrated experience of those, who call themselves Jehovah's worshipers. The concentrated experience of life presents many shocking testimonie about the relationship between man and God, especially if one is experiencing suffering and God becomes the only true source of salvation to a man facing a hopeless situation. The person refers to this source in his speech, and he recites his requests and his calls. This thesis attempts to examine and approach the mechanism of the speech of the Psalmist, who, in his crisis, reverts to the fact that he believes God will free him from this situation. The theologians Walter Brueggeman and Claus Westrmann contributed to the mapping of this mechanism by extraordinary insights, from which the author of this work also draws. In this thesis I describe the phases of complaints and praises, each of which consists of individual steps: addressing, complaining, pleading, motivation, cursing but also assurance of hearing, promise and praise. Joy in the Thought of Friedrich Nietzsche

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to show the joy, which is connected with the main ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche's work. It will attempt to outline the roles which God, the world and suffering play in relation to joy. The first part of this work will interpret the death of God, assess it in a contemporary context and use it as a cornerstone for understanding the other opinions of our thinker. The thesis will also define the traditional Christian perception of mankind, the world and happiness, and contrast it with Nietzsche's joyful message. A further important part of this work will focus on the correlation between the idea of the overman and the eternal recurrence of the same. Both are shown to bring an entirely different kind of joy. However, in the end it should be clear that one cannot exist without the other. The work deals with the problem of the pain and suffering of a young person that prevents him from developing his desire to live. The work is focused on the young person and it is based on the psychological introduction to the issue. It notices accompanying facts of suffer as fear and anxiety, but also its counterparts in the form of hope and joy. The work also seeks to search for the meaning of these negative facts and presents several knowledge from logo therapy. It further develops Christian perspectives that relate to the problem of the pain and suffering of a young person, especially on the basis of the Bible, the apostolic letter Salvifici Doloris. It offers a view of faith, hope and joy, but does not negate the possibility of doubt and dark nights. It further describes the value of prayer and seeks to find ways for the young man to accept his life also with suffering. It shows the Church as a community of love, especially according to the example of the merciful Samaritan. It points to the importance of communication - dialogue with a young person and authenticity of human acceptance that is a very important function of the relationship when the young person feels his value and importance. It also develops the qualitative function of the relationship based on providing help beyond the profession, thanks to which fact a young person can once again discover his desire to live despite the limiting factors in the form of pain and suffering. In the end, there are described several case studies in the work focused on the importance of personal relationships that can bring the necessary changes for young man and to discover the value of human life.

The concept of existence by Karl Jaspers

EN: Jaspers came to philosophy from medicine and psychology. Unique personal situation, authentic life experience, unrepeatable faithful self-respect turned psychopathologist Jaspers from psychiatric physiology of soul to the thesis of ciphers of transcendence, borderline, edge and horizon. He constituted his own pattern of the thinker not only as an explaining teacher, but also as co-creator of original ethics, based on deep comprehension of the other, importance of encompassing communication between man and man. First section of my work deals with the concept of Border. Our attitudes and picture of the universe and its evaluation are limited by borders. The holistic complex being remains behind the horizon The second part is dedicated to border-line situation as an phenomenon of possibility, as seen from the point of view of Jaspers own existence, as presented in his Philosophy, including commentary based on new translations by Vaclav Nemec Closing part deals with existential communication and holistic transition from possible to new horizons of transcendence. My interpretation of chosen excerpts comes mostly from "Allgemeine Psychopathologie" "Psychologie der Weltanschauungen." Quotations appear in my own translation. Why do people tend to not saying goodbye to the dead?

The diploma thesis deals with the search for answering the question of people´s not saying goodbye to the deceased. The first chapter deals with the topic of dying and death in the past and compares it to the present situation. Another chapter emphasizes the significance of the ritual in human life, it deals with the early and current funeral rituals, their justified meaning from a psychological point of view. It also deals with the places of the last resting of our ancestors. The third chapter deals with the ethical aspect of this issue and, in particular, with the search for the answers, which are the cause of the current situation. The last chapter focuses on social work with survivors, deals with accompanying, mourning, and counseling help.

Philosophy inspiration in selected works by Ladislav Fuks

The aim of this diploma theses is to find philosophical, religious and ideological motifs in the work of Ladislav Fuks and subsequently interpret their origin, intertextuality and meaning in the text. The emphasis is put on proving the semantic functionality in the story. For our research, we have selected following works: Mr. Theodore Mundstock, The Cremator, and Addressing from the Darkness. We will study philosophical and theological literature, as well as materials from the archives and from the estate of Ladislav Fuks in order to base all the findings on the biographical author, too. The thesis is divided into five chapters. In the first chapter we deal with basic literary characteristics of the selected books and their literary reception. The second chapter discusses Ladislav Fuks' relationship to philosophy, being anchored in both his friends' testimonies and the archival research of his estate. The third chapter is the most important and the most comprehensive one since it deals with the interpretation of philosophical motifs in each of the selected books. In the fourth chapter we compare individual philosophical motifs from different works with each other. We summarize the findings at the end of the theses.

Till we have faces: A process of growing into a Christian maturity in the mythical language of C. S. Lewis

Title of this work is Till we have faces: The process of growing up to Christian maturity in mythic language of C.S. Lewis. This work deals with the theme of Christian maturity in faith, specifically the process of growing up into this adulthood, by C. S. Lewis. This topic is researched in his book Till we have faces. It is a retold myth by Lewis, so description of the mythic language function will be important. The growing process is introduced in two selected views. The first is the role of pain in this process and the second is the role of imagination. These two paths are chosen because they are important topics in Lewis life. Christian maturity description is based on the Bible. Pain is presented in the view of several theologians and several theodicy streams are described. In this work, Jacob and Job are introduced as representatives of people who have gone through the process of growing up into maturity and have met God face to face. The work introduces Lewis' life with a focus on his growing up in Christian maturity. The main part is the analysis of the book Till we have faces. During the analysis the main moments are commented. The final chapter summarizes key findings and theses.

Logotherapy Value in Teaching Pupils of Secundary School

The work deals with the psychological direction of logotherapy. The theoretical part introduces its origins, development and content, in the form logotherapeutic values. These values are elaborated in detail, so that they can be understood by pupils at the senior primary school. Furthermore, it summarizes the stage of development corresponding to the age group of pupils at the senior primary school with respect to both, physical and mental and also neological aspects. The practical part contains an implementation of logotherapeutic values in the education of pupils at the senior primary school in the General Educational Program of basic education. This includes the love, faith, hope, death, suffering and guilt, as understood by logotherapy, in the Ethics Education subject or in the cross-sectional topic of Personality and Social Education.
