The theoretical chapters about ageing, kinds of care, and examples of offered services for the elderly are complemented by a practical part. The practical part of the diploma thesis is based on the experience of the seniors with whom there were made half-structured interviews. The interviews were focused on the factors that are the autonomy of the individuals, their relationships with others and their families, and also their health conditions. Seniors' awareness of the care allowance
ZDĚNOVCOVÁ, Dominika
This bachelor thesis is focused on the care allowance, and how users over the age of 65 view it, which was also the first research goal. The second goal of my bachelor thesis was to find out the sufficiency of the care allowance for these users. A qualitative research approach, a semi-guided interviewing method and inquiring techniques were selected in order to complete the practical part of the thesis. The interviews were conducted with nine users of social services in Sezimovo Ústí, who are 65 years of age and older and who receive a care allowance. The thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part I deal with formal and informal care, and especially the care allowance as such. The practical part evaluates the statements of all informants, which were evaluated by the formation of tufts and, last but not least, a summary of the entire bachelor's thesis, evaluation of the fulfillment of set goals and answers to research questions. This bachelor thesis can provide information about the importance of the care allowance for the elderly and serve as an indicator of the current perception of the care allowance by users.
Are elderly internet users healthier?
Hozová, Karolína ; Votápková, Jana (advisor) ; Švarcová, Natálie (referee)
This thesis examines how internet usage impacts health outcomes of elderly aged 50 and above living in European countries using data from Survey of Health, Aging and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) Wave 8. Since bi-directional relationship between health and internet usage is expected, a two-stage least square model (2SLS) is used. Self-assessed health condition as the response variable is tested. Internet usage proved to be endogenous with respect to the health among seniors aged 65 and older by employing Wu-Hausman test. Robustness check, in the form of respondent's self-rated limitations in activities because of health, confirms the endogeneity, direction and significance of the relationship. Results show that internet usage positively affects health outcomes of seniors in the retirement age and decreases odds of poor health condition among the pre-retirement population (adults 50 to 64 years old). When accounted for socioeconomic factors in the pre-retirement age, significance of IT literacy diminishes. Other characteristics which affected health outcomes of elderly in our model are age, behavioral risks, life satisfaction, satisfaction with health care system and health literacy. "You can't command a change of thinking": system of informal education for the elderly from the public policy perspective
Bílková, Kateřina ; Hejzlarová, Eva (advisor) ; Dobiášová, Karolína (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the topic of non-formal education for senior citizens in Czech Republic from the perspective of public policy. The main goal of this thesis is to capture the current state, main challenges and key topics in the field of non-formal education for senior citizens in Czech Republic. The system of non-formal education for senior citizens represents a complex structure of institutions, which offer educational programmes and activities. Both the system and the senior population are immensely diverse, which, on one hand, offers a high degree of flexibility and autonomy to both, the participants and the institutions. But on the other hand, it presents a challenge for public policy to capture the complexity of the phenomenon, whilst maintaining inclusivity. The non-formal education for senior citizens isn't defined by the legislative and the field therefore falls under three different departments: Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports; Ministry of Labour and Social Affair and Ministry of Culture. Due to the aforementioned diversity, the research uses qualitative study design and is carried out through expert interviews and the analysis of public policy documents. The sample of experts is designed to capture the experience of all types of institutions, which offer some form of...

The efficiency of the legal regulation of care for senior citizens
Filípková, Hana ; Koldinská, Kristina (advisor) ; Vysokajová, Margerita (referee)
The effectiveness of legal regulation of care for the elderly - summary From the projected demographic development, one can conclude that the proportion of the elderly in the society will grow significantly in the future. Advancing age is generally accompanied by the weakening of self-reliance and the need of help from others to take care of oneself. The aim of this work is to capture the latest trends in taking care of the elderly and its legislative anchorage in the laws of the Czech Republic. The fundamental law from which I start is the act no. 108/2006 Sb. on social services. This act brought a large number of changes and new institutions into the department of care (not only for seniors), from which the most important was the introduction of care subsidy. The work is focused mainly theoretically, it is divided into seven chapters and further particular sub-chapters. The first chapter deals with embedding the social services into the social security law system, and also briefly with their historical development. These bases represent essential determinants that affect both the current state of social services, as well as their possible future development. The need for effective regulation of social services for seniors can be seen in the demographic indicators, which confirm the long-term trend towards...
