Social work with adolescents addicted to psychoactive substances
Malíková, Kristýna ; Krahulcová, Beáta (advisor) ; Nová, Monika (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to draw attention to the serious problem of drug addiction among adolescents who are abusing addictive substances or marijuana. This increasingly important issue is discussed a lot, but very often neglected by the society. This thesis provides definitions and characteristics of individual drugs and their effects on adolescents. The need for prevention and treatment of adolescent clients is emphasized, alongside with the family support, which is often crucial. In the practical part, the author of the thesis focuses on organizations that are critically important in this field. These organizations focus on prevention, counseling services, social inclusion and treatment facilities (inpatient and outpatient services), etc. Their characteristics and methods of client treatment are described. Furthermore, in this work the author presents a survey that confirms the findings of some detailed quantitative research papers. The main findings are that drug abuse is a major problem of this century and also a burden on society, especially on the adolescents themselves. The solution is very complicated and time consuming, but everyone can contribute by not being indifferent to this problem.

Despite the danger, however, with peers who abuse toluene, and especially for the older generation of this volatile substance to be considered harmless fun. This fact stands out in the context of intravenous heroin and methamphetamine, contrary to the public clearly terrified. Based on data that are collected by questionnaire survey, this work gives the parties determine the perception of toluene in the vicinity of the abuser. Research is also focused on the effectiveness of the activities of primary prevention of abuse of volatile substances...

The research was conducted throught expert interviews and interviews with users of these services. Theoretical basis of the work is the ethiology of addiction, which offers various explanations of the origin and persistence of the problem of alcohol dependence. The work also uses the findings of the life course perspective, which allows to map the life trajectories of the interviewees, including the recognition of key events in their lives affecting the emergence and development of addicton. The last theoretical starting point of the work is the concept of social inclusion.

Charles University in Prague First Faculty of Medicine Study programme: Specialization in Health Care Branch of Study: Addictology PharmDr. Zbyněk Oktábec, Ph.D. et Ph.D. Recent Findings on the Pharmacotherapy of Methamphetamine Dependence: Potentially Suitable Substances for Methamphetamine Substitution Bachelor's Thesis Advisor: Mgr. Roman Gabrhelík, Ph.D. Prague, 2014 Abstract Methamphetamine has long been a lead drug of abuse among problem drug users on the Czech drug scene. At the moment, there is no worldwide effective pharmacological treatment of addiction on the methamphetamine/amphetamine-like substances. There have been found substances, with the greater or lesser success, from different ATC groups as well as some new substances, which some patients/clients could profit from. Nevertheless we still fail to find a widely effective pharmacotherapy of methamphetamine dependence, which would be efficacious and broadly applicable, i.e. as the substances in the treatment of opioid dependence. This work aims to present current information on substitution and/or craving reduction therapy in the treatment of methamphetamine dependence. This paper has the character of a research/review work and uses up-to-date data, not only in published articles and in the primary literature, but in ongoing clinical trials...

Černá, Michaela ; Radimecký, Josef (advisor) ; Richterová-Těmínová, Martina (referee)
The aim of the work is to describe (using the observation) the rite after successfull finishing of the treatment of drug addiction in a therapeutic community and to find out how the client, who has finished the treatment this way, perceives this rite. Kačírková, Romana Eleanor ; Kalina, Kamil (advisor) ; Skřivánková, Magdaléna (referee)
Problems of origin and development of dependence on alcohol at women suffering from domestic violence: Protective and risk factors Abstract The bachelor thesis engages with theme of harmful use and alcohol dependence of women - victims of domestic violence. Background for this work was International violence against women survey in Czech Republic from 2003, which presents that 58,9 % respondents met with domestic violence in their lives. 26 % of them, who experienced violence by their partner, had recourse to use of alcohol or medicaments (Pikálková, 2004), which is not negligible number. Theoretical part of this thesis is devoted to themes of domestic violence and origin and development of dependence at first and then it describes existing researches which connect both themes. Goals of the thesis were to describe connection between domestic violence and harmful use or dependence on alcohol on the base of the experience of women exposed to domestic violence and also to describe risk and protective factors of harmful use or dependence on alcohol at those women. I reached the goals of the thesis by methods of qualitative reserch by means of semi-structured interview with six victims of domestic violence. Basic group were women - victims of domestic violence. Six women were chosen to research sample by...

Introduction: To reduce risks, tobacco manufacturers have started to diversify their products. Nicotine can now be obtained from smokeless tobacco products, including oral tobacco and nicotine e.g in pre-filled sachets (snus, nicotine sachets). Students of Faculty of Education belong to a group of young people who can be approached by these products, and at the same time, as future teachers, they should be informed about these products. Objectives: The aim of the work was to find out the experience of students of the Faculty of Education, Charles University with the use of oral forms of tobacco and nicotine. Methods: Quantitative research was used to obtain the data. The research has been done using an anonymous online questionnaire survey in the Survio.com platform. Students were approached by e-mail, which is used by all students of a particular and a student Facebook account. The data obtained was processed in Excel. The questionnaire was divided into four parts. The first part of the questionnaire collected basic information on respondents (age, field of study, year), the second part questionnaire examined the experience of the prevalence of tobacco and nicotine use, the third part examined the experience of nicotine pouches and the last part examined the experience with oral tobacco use....
Measures of dependence
Matoušková, Monika ; Pawlas, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Dvořák, Jiří (referee)
The most common measure of dependence is the correlation coefficient. Its problem is that it can be zero for two dependent random variables. We will discuss two measures of dependence, which are equal to zero if and only if the two random variables are inde- pendent. We will compare them with Pearson's correlation coefficient. The first one will be the maximal correlation, which is often difficult to calculate. That is why we define the maximal polynomial correlation, which is easier to calculate and is non-decreasing in a degree of a polynomial. We also define the distance correlation and we discuss other ways of the expression of distance correlation, which can be used in the calculation. We deal with the case of normal distribution and we show some calculations of these measures of dependence. 1
