Petra Nováková Opponent of the thesis: Title of the thesis: Physiotherapy in Patients with Surgical Treatment of Fractures of The Proximal Humerus Cooperation Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist This thesis deals with physiotherapy and occupational therapy for patients with surgical treatment of fractures of the proximal humerus. The aim is to show how important it is collaboration physiotherapist and occupational therapist for patients with this diagnosis and publish their examination procedure and proposal of therapy. The work is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. Introduction the theoretical part contains an anatomical description of the humerus and anatomy and kinesiology shoulder joint. In the section devoted to fractures of the proximal humerus describes the most common causes of fractures, subsequent possibilities of conservative and surgical treatment, particularly with potential complications. The final section discusses post-operative rehabilitation, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and the importance of the cooperation of a multidisciplinary team. The Role of the Occupational Therapist in the Treatment of Patients with Huntington's Disease Abstract: This thesis is focused on the possible potential of occupational therapy in patients with Huntington's disease, a neurodegenerative brain disease. Currently, Huntington's disease is incurable, but there are some therapeutic methods and approaches which have positive influence on a progress of the disease. Also, early intervention of occupational therapy is needed and the occupational therapist is an irreplaceable specialist as a part of an interdisciplinary team. However, in the Czech Republic there is a little experience with occupational therapy in patients with Huntington's disease. The thesis consists of a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part provides basic information about the condition and by having used specialized foreign literature it also focuses on the opportunities and goals of occupational therapy in patients with Huntington's disease. In the practical part, questionnaires which were distributed among patients and patient care providers were evaluated. Results of the questionnaires provide besides other things a brief outline of patient's problematic areas. Training for autocatheterization in patients with spinal cord lesions from the perspective of an occupational therapist

This bachelor thesis deals with the rehearsal of self-catheterisation by spinal lesion patients from the occupational therapist's point of view. The aim of the thesis is to create a selfcatheterisation manual for patients after spinal lesion, which might be beneficial for paraplegic as well as tetraplegic patients. The manual contains information about the self-catheterisation procedure and offers instructions, methods and alternatives of compensatory aids and strategies for becoming independent in one of the ADL activities - urinary bladder emptying. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part clearly explains the problems of tetraplegia and the level of disability and analyses the effects of spinal injury to urinary bladder functioning. The practical part is concerned with the benefits of the Self-catheterisation Rehearsal by Spinal Lesion Patients from the Occupational Therapist's Point of View manual which were examined through a qualitative research. Occupational Therapy for Adult Patients with Burn Trauma Comparison of Approaches in the Czech Republic and Sweden

of the Thesis: The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe the occupational therapy interventions for adult people with burn trauma and to identify the differences between occupational approaches for adult patients with burn trauma in the Czech Republic and Sweden. The process of treatment of people with burn trauma is described from medical and occupational therapy point of view in the theoretical part. The partial occupational interventions, which are used for the aforementioned target group, are also discussed. The summarized information about Czech and Swedish health service is also provided and analysed, including the statistical data about hospitalized patients with burn trauma in those two countries. The partial differences in the occupational therapy for adult patients with burn trauma in the Czech Republic and Sweden are described in the practical part. The differences were determined by using various procedures of methods of qualitative data collection. Occupational therapy has not been a common part of the treatment process of burn trauma in the Czech Republic yet, although it is very likely it would positively affect the quality of patients' lives. This master thesis presents the field of Occupational Therapy within rehabilitation care and points out the possibilities of its use in follow-up care and field outpatient practice. The thesis aims at the elaboration of a business plan for establishing an Occupational Therapy private practice, which would provide Occupational Therapy service and rehabilitation for people with lasting functional deficit in their own social environment or in an Occupational Therapy outpatient department. The theoretic part focuses on the theoretic basis of business, requirements for establishing of a private practice and concept of strategic management and analysis. It continues with the structure of business plan and presents the field of Occupational Therapy, its history, actual situation and position within the comprehensive care. The thesis aims to describe the approach of sensory integration according to Jean Ayres and examine the possibilities for the usage in occupational therapy for children suffering from autism spectrum disorder. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the basic knowledge about sensory integration and occupational therapy related to autism spectrum disorder. The practical part tackles the terms of using sensory integration and therapeutic activities focused on particular sensory processing disorders of children with autism spectrum disorder. Sensory integration approach was developed by occupational therapist. Sensory integration approach defines three primary diagnostic groups of sensory processing disorders, provides evaluations and sensory integration activities. ADL manual for people after stroke

This bachelor thesis is aiming at creating a ADL (Activity of Daily Living) manual for people who suffered a stroke. Theoretical part is mainly focused on results of stroke that patients have to live with. It represents what occupational therapy is about and its irreplaceable role in the process of the patient's return to active life. It shows wide range of rehabilitation process and patient's difficulties with availability of complete materials with its issue. There are materials describing etiology, causes and results of stroke on the market, but not so many publications describing procedure how to deal with it and how to reach the highest level of patient's independence in normal life when it once happened. Practical part is represented by my own manual called ,,ADL manual for people after a stroke" with summary sheets included after each category of ADL. The manual contains use of common and also rare compensatory aids with instructions where to find details about those aids on the market. The manual was created with 30 different people who suffered stroke and use compensatory aids nowadays. Then the survey was made with these patients to express their opinions on the manual. Title: Therapy of spasticity with botulinum toxin and assessment of the effect by Tardieu Scale Abstract: This paper discusses paralysing effect of botulinum toxin which is used to treat spastic muscles in contemporary medicine. The paper focuses on spasticity in patients with disorder of the central nervous system caused most commonly by stroke. At first it deals with theoretical knowledge about physiology of movement, then describes active ingredient and explains the mechanism of its effect. It dedicates a lot of attention to follow-up rehabilitation as an integral part in the management of spasticity. This paper is based on two case histories. A practical part describes in detail patient's condition before and after application of botulinum toxin. A progress of the effect was assessed during periodic meetings. These instruments were used to assess: Tardieu Scale of spasticity and Frenchay arm test. In connection with the application of botulinum toxin is emphasized active co-operation of the patient. It is an essential precondition for positive results in the management of spasticity.
