Domestic violence and its prevention

The thesis deals with the problem of domestic violence and its prevention. The first part of the thesis focuses on defining the key notions necessary to understand speci-fic characteristics of domestic violence. The next part of the thesis concentrates on con-temporary legal regulations on domestic violence, progress up to now, and this is being followed up by suggestions de lege ferenda on the end of the thesis. The essential part of the thesis deals with prevention and tries to present improvement suggestions.
Domestic Violence from the perspective of criminal law

v angličtině The first few chapters of the rigorous discuss the definition, types and theories of domestic violence. I explore potential gender-specific aspects of domestic violence, with a separate chapter devoted to victims of domestic violence. Building on the introductory chapters I proceed to analyze criminal offences related to domestic violence, including related verdicts. In the procedural area I focus in particular on custody, victims' property rights, and the payment of damages to the plaintiff. This section is closed off by a discussion of police and civil interventions in cases of domestic violence. The final part of the dissertation analyzes domestic violence in the context of international law, providing a comparison with the legal order of the Slovak Republic.
Specifics of work to foreigners living in the Czech Republic, who are at risk of domestic violence

The bachelor work entitled "The specifics of working with foreigners at risk of domestic violence, ways of helping foreigners at risk domestic violence, who use the services of a community center InBaze Berkat" has in its theoretical part mainly explanation of the concept of domestic violence and basic information on this issue. Then it presents options for further assistance to vulnerable persons in the Czech Republic, outline legislative of residence of foreigners and a specific work with foreigners at risk of domestic violence in the Czech Republic. Empirical part of this work consists of a brief presentation of the community center InBaze Berkat and its programs for foreigners. Then follows the overview of cultural mediators from the four most represented communities of foreigners in the CR and four articles about specifics of how corresponding culture of these mediators deals with the issue of domestic violence. This section also includes a presentation of the project of multicultural women's groups and interviews with well-known therapist Vera Roubalova-Kostlánova, which has long focused therapeutic work with foreigners and their families, among others in the context of domestic violence. Legal status of a victim of domestic violence

The topic of my thesis is Legal Status of a Victim of Domestic Violence. It is devoted to domestic violence as a contemporary phenomenon and to the legal status of its victim. The purpose of the thesis is to analyse relevant Czech legislation and compare it with the real needs of a victim of such treatment. It attempts to give to the reader a comprehensive overview of this topic and also to suggest some amends aiming at better protection of the victim of domestic violence. The thesis consists of five chapters each of them dealing with different aspects of domestic violence and position of its victim. Chapter one is called The concept of a domestic violence: explanation and is subdivided into five parts. The first part deals with the definition of the concept and its elements. Part two lists kinds and forms of violent conduct. The third part points out the psychological consequences the victims of domestic violence may suffer from, such as the so called battered woman syndrome. Part four suggests that not only women may be victims of domestic violence and deals with selected specific aspects of situations when men, children or elderly people become victims of domestic violence. Protective options against domestic violence

Diploma thesis "Protective options against domestic violence" deals with one of the serious problems of the current populations, which is domestic violence. The work is focused on one slice of the problem, namely to address the protection of victims of domestic violence. In this work are described and analyzed the possibility that victims of domestic violence can use to protect themselves. There are also mentioned institutions, which provide protection to victims. The options of protection of the victims of domestic violence were compared with each other and then with the means of protection in neighboring states. The comparison showed that the most effective mean of protection against domestic violence in the Czech Republic is expulsion and that in the Czech Republic, the institute used much less frequently than in neighboring states. The paper also verified the hypothesis that there are links between the numbers of cases of domestic violence, unemployment figures and the number of violent crimes. Comparison showed that these phenomena are closely related. Finally, the proposal was stated to be better protection of victims of domestic violence, namely strengthening the authority of victims of domestic violence in divorce cases.

Problems of origin and development of dependence on alcohol at women suffering from domestic violence: Protective and risk factors Abstract The bachelor thesis engages with theme of harmful use and alcohol dependence of women - victims of domestic violence. Background for this work was International violence against women survey in Czech Republic from 2003, which presents that 58,9 % respondents met with domestic violence in their lives. 26 % of them, who experienced violence by their partner, had recourse to use of alcohol or medicaments (Pikálková, 2004), which is not negligible number. Theoretical part of this thesis is devoted to themes of domestic violence and origin and development of dependence at first and then it describes existing researches which connect both themes. Goals of the thesis were to describe connection between domestic violence and harmful use or dependence on alcohol on the base of the experience of women exposed to domestic violence and also to describe risk and protective factors of harmful use or dependence on alcohol at those women. Domestic violence and alcohol as a trigger of agression

As a thesis topic I chose the controversial and often discussed the topic "Domestic violence and alcohol as a trigger factor for aggression." In the general population of the Czech population, however, long dominated by number of entrenched myths. The aim of this thesis is to describe the phenomenon of domestic violence, generally explain the basic concepts, types, forms, consequences for victims of domestic violence often carry lifetime. One chapter describes those thugs, not just for men. Violent person, mainly in relation to the elderly and children, may be a woman. The work is to imagine an organization dealing with domestic violence in the Czech Republic and describe the work of the police. Alcohol surely affects human behavior and is often a factor present in the accompanying violence against a loved one. The inquiry was to determine the extent of contact persons phenomenon of domestic violence and how to track down the victim subjectively perceive alcohol as a cause of aggression. Since this is a phenomenon highly latent, to get information, he was elected quantitative research interviewing technique and anonymous questionnaires.
