Impact of International Trade in Coffee on Producing Developping Countries
Bartůňková, Lenka ; Steinmetzová, Dana (advisor) ; Antal, Jarolím (referee)
In the second half of the 20th century many new subjects entered the coffee producing business attracted by high coffee prices on the regulated market. When the regulations were lifted in 1989 prices dropped to a 30 year minimum. Low prices now have a negative impact on small producers who cannot compete with large plantation production because they do not attain economies of scales as they are growing coffee on small plots using traditional methods. When thinking about solutions to the current situation, we must not forget that these small farmers often produce coffee of higher quality and more importantly that their fields are areas of high biodiversity taking up the function of dissappearing rainforests. International Coffee Organization looks for global solutions like imposing higher quality standards on traded coffee. Individual consumers can help resolve the situation by buying coffee from small farmers whose production techniques are helping to conserve biodiversity. Such coffee can be found under the labels Shade Grown or Organic. Fair Trade certificate does not tell us anything about environmental protection, it is however still better than the purchase of none certified coffee. In Fair Trade coffee usually has a country of origin. By purchasing that coffee consumer can promote coffee production in that particular country. Ethiopia is highly dependent on coffee. It is also coffee's original home, meaning that it is also home to wild coffee plants and coffee plants with genes that can not be found anywhere else. Wild coffee plants are often found in forests that are however dissappearing fast. For the future of coffee growing it is necessary to conserve the original coffee population for generations to come. By purchasing Ethiopian coffee the consumer helps support the whole sector and raise interest in protection of coffee forests.
Ifluencing the Demographic Behavior of Chosen Inhabitant Groups by Social Benefits
Vlček, Petr ; Kotýnková, Magdalena (advisor) ; Sunega, Petr (referee)
This paper aimes to provide a multidimensional view on the topic of the sustainability of the social system in the long run. Psychology together with sociology indicate that the impact of genetic factors on the forming of an individual into a well-ordered member of society with a normal values is much smaller than the impact of the family and its social capital. Social system aspirates to motivate the needed ones to become financially independent again, but this simply does not work. On the other hand in the attempt to increase the household income especially the socially excluded households chose to change their characteristics in order to get the social benefits rather than to enter labour market. One of the most important and relatively easily changable characteristics in this context is the number of unprovided children in the family. Therefore to get a bigger amount of social benefits they have children. To proove the rationality of such behaviour the concept of the consumption unit is used. This concept quantifies the economies of scale in the common household. The result is that while in the typical family the income per consumption unit steadily decreases with the increasing number of children, in the family without any earnings this income approximatly doubles. The financial situation of the poor family improves with the number of children. This has an adverse effect on the society structure in the long run, because it encourages higher birth rate of the groups that do not contribute to the system. It is possible to lower the birth rate in the unfavourable families and increase it in the typical families by changing the rules of computing the benefits. It is necessary to keep the income per consumption unit independent from the number of children. This can be achieved for example by a tax abatement. It is also advisable to connect the social and retirement system in the manner that the amount of the retirement pension would be affected by the amount of money contributed to the system by the children of the retiree.

Energy dependency of the EU with focus on Russia
Braunová, Marie ; Vošta, Milan (advisor) ; Harmáček, Jaromír (referee)
The European Union is becoming increasingly dependent on energy imports. Especially oil and natural gas imports are rising as their production in Europe declines. The most important energy partner of the EU is Russia, which delivers the biggest volumes of oil and natural gas to european countries. The highest rate of energy dependency on Russia can be observed in eastern and central Europe, where diverzification of energy supplies is one of key issues. It is necessary to reduce the energy dependency on russian gas, but at the same time, it is important to build a stable partnership with Russia, which is striving to become a leader at the global energy market, where demand for fossil fuels is rapidly rising. Apart from searching alternative suppliers to russian natural gas in order to achieve higher energy independence, an important role could play alternative energy sources, energy savings or rebirth of nuclear energy.

Bearing in mind the importance of this project, which must meet the high standards in introducing it into the real situation together with providing the feedback to the already made decisions for executive directors of the particular company. Meanwhile, it was necessary to make more accurate these findings through the public data. The data correction itself could not take place without internal basic documents. The method of partial corrections has been determined on the basis of these documents. These partial corrections have led to volume eliminations which were a burden in the informational channel of the company. As the primary goal of this project was to work out the financial analysis for the need of the company management itself, it was the most suitable to choose such indicators, whose aptitudes would provide a comprehensible picture of the real situation.
