Nutrition of professional sportsmen
VACHOUTOVÁ, Petra
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to map the nutrition of top sportsmen. The thesis is divided in 2 parts; theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part we dealt with nutrition of top athletes in comparison with the general population. In the practial part we have chosen two groups of professional bodybuilders and footballers. For the research questions we used the qualitative method. Research questions are as follows: RQ 1: What are the eating habits of professional sportsmen? RQ 2: Which foods are indispensable for professional sportsmen? RQ 3: What supplements do professional sportsmen use? RQ 4: What do professional sportsmen think about doping? The data were collected using a semi-structured interview. The interviews were attended by seven bodybuilders from the Pilsen region and seven footballers from the Olomouc and Pilsen regions. The informants were chosen by the snowball sampling technique. Four charts in categories were created from the interview data, the individual subcategories were described and compared between two selected sports disciplines: bodybuilding and football. The results are showing us that the nutrition of top athletes is subject to certain rules, but it is important to mention the individuality we have faced in each sport discipline in all aspects. Nutrition of athletes cannot be considered as a healthy lifestyle and the food supplements are an integral part of the nutrition of professional athletes. Doping is perceived as a negative element of sports on a professional level. The output of this work is also an educational leaflet with recommendations of suitable eating habits not only for top athletes.
Substance abuse among the top bodybuilders in the Czech Republic
Hoffmanová, Jana ; Harsa, Pavel (advisor) ; Šejvl, Jaroslav (referee)
In the last few years, the interest in bodybuilding has increased but unluckily it is often accompanied by taking doping substances. At this time, we have been already informed about anabolic steroids exclusively through the media spreading the news about the doping scandals of top athletes. Although many books were written about doping and bodybuilding, their first publishing was dated to 2000 and the literature today mainly focuses on nutrition and training. The goal of my thesis was to map the view of top bodybuilders on doping at the professional and hobby level and their knowledge of the effects of prohibited substances. The qualitative research was made by the series of dialogues that were semi-structured and with the agreement of respondents. The information was recorded on a dictaphone, transcribed and edited. The main research questions were based on the risks that are bodybuilders aware of, their motivation for the sports and possible use of the prohibited substances. They were also asked about their experience of the addiction to them. According to the research, the athletes are well-informed about all the risks. The majority of them are regular users of excessive amount. The motivation for the bodybuilding and taking doping is different, but they have something in common. It is the...

Bodybuilding preparation for the competition - comparation category of competition and difference between theier preparation
Jirkovský, David ; Pokorný, Ladislav (advisor) ; Dlouhý, Martin (referee)
In the following theses, I would like to focus on bodybuilding preseason with competitive ambitions, describe the preparation in detail, explain the sequence, main attributes, synchronization, correct posing and common mistakes. In addition, I aim to compare variances of individual categories and particular competitions from amateur to professional level under the rules of IFBB (International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness). My thesis might clash with rules and categories of other organizations such as NABBA (National Amateur Body-Builder's Association), INBA (International Natural Bodybuilding Association) and others, therefore IFBB was purposefully mentioned. I searched thru publications, discussed the given topic with Czech bodybuilding and fitness stars, and utilized my personal experience which I collected as competitive bodybuilder and trainer in variation of bodybuilding categories. I wished to introduce the sport that has become my lifestyle to the wider audience.
