Media discourse of the regulation of media with an attention to cases of publicising information from phone hacking-comparative analysis of Czech and British daily newspapers

This thesis is concerned with the media image of Czech and British press regulation, with a focus on daily newspapers. The theoretical part deals with selected normative requirements for media, the concept of public interest, the legislative framework of the press operation in the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom, self-regulation mechanisms of the British press, and, last but not least, ethical norms and professional practice that comes with the occupation of a journalist. The thesis also presents the main representatives and the basis of critical discourse analysis, the selected procedures of which are then used in the follow-up study of media content. The analytical part focuses on the discourse of selected Czech and British daily newspapers and examines it in the context of two events associated with state intervention into media regulation. Inthe case of the Czech Republic it is the approval of Law no. 52/2009, titled by the media as "muzzle law", in the case of the United Kingdom we are concerned with the exposal of illegal methods for obtaining information by News of the World, a British weekly. The protection of children and teenagers based on the assessments of the Council for radio and television broadcasting

The subject of this thesis is protect of children and adolescents in the evaluations of The Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting. The first part is mapped Czech media legislation with regard to the legal standards underlying The Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting in their trials (particularly Act No. 231/2001 Coll., on radio and television broadcasts). The next chapter introduced The Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting, in particular with regard to its activities and competences in relation to the protection of children and youth. The central and largest of the thesis is the research itself, followed by the processing results of the research and defining conclusions. Research is conducted content analysis using qualitative and quantitative strategies. As a basis for research is used legislation, case law, decisions and notifications Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting from 2008 to 2011. Media regulation and its representation in czech newspapers from 1991 until 2011

The thesis "Media Regulation and its Representation in Czech Newspapers from 1991 until 2011" concerns in its theoretical part with legal regulation of media in the Czech Republic, in particular with regulation of three basic media sectors - press, radio and television broadcasting and internet. It defines basic statutes in the scope of media law and analyzes the most important legal provisions, including the activity of regulatory bodies. Furthermore, the thesis compares the Czech regulation of media with regulation in selected foreign countries. Their selection and categorization is based on three media systems as defined in the book of Daniel C. Hallin and Paolo Mancini "Comparing Media Systems". In the second part, the thesis concerns with practical analysis of media content of two Czech dailies MF Dnes and Právo in the period from 1991 until 2011. The analysis deals with articles which are somehow connected to the issue of broadcasting and press media regulation. It tries to deduce how the dailies present media regulation and if emphasizing of particular topics could influence legislative acts regulating media. Programme reporters of czech television , self-censorship and situation ethics in investigative programme

Bachelor thesis entitled Program 'Czech TV Reporters': Auto-Censorship and Situation Ethics analyzes how journalists of the publicity program 'Czech TV Reporters' proceed when producing their reports. The program aired by a public service broadcaster aims to uncover socio-political issues and cases in the Czech society through investigative journalism. In this work, the reporters face various challenges with regards to the Czech TV ethical code and find different ways how to overcome these issues. The first part of the thesis outlines the basic factual information about the program, discusses program's beginnings including all of its initial setbacks up to the current form as one of the most prominent programs of Czech investigative journalism. The thesis analyzes interesting cases that were broadcasted in this program like for instance a report on investigation of member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament Wolf which led to the fall of Mirek Topolanek's government. East Germany press agency ADN

This thesis deals with the establishment and development of the East German press agency Allgemeiner Deutscher Nachrichtendienst (ADN). History and main development changes and tendencies of the agency are described here from its foundation in 1946 till the beginning of 1990. The chapter about cooperation between the East German agency ADN and the Czechoslovak News Agency CTK is part of the main body of the text about the ADN. The paper also gives a brief outline of history of the Soviet occupation zone of Germany and the German Democratic Republic (GDR) from 1945 till the end of 1989. Further, the view on the media sphere of the GDR and its main attributes and characteristics form a part of the paper. Regulation and control system of the media in East Germany in the second half of the 20th century is also introduced in this part.
Programme Diversity in Czech Televisions between 1998 and 2006

The present thesis entitled "Programme Diversity of Czech Nationwide Television Channels in the Years 1998 - 2006" focuses on the normative requirement of the society regarding the diversity of mass media, and the approach of mass media thereto: we distinguish between media diversity introduced in the market media model and the diversity presented as part of the public sphere media model. Furthermore, this thesis attempts to search for and determine the requirements regarding media diversity as laid down in the applicable legislation of the Czech Republic or the European Union. The research part of the thesis deals with one of the many levels of diversity in the mass media environment, particularly the diversity of television programme types, i.e. television genres accepted by the interest groups: academics, broadcasters or audiences etc. The present analysis includes nationwide TV stations providing analogue broadcasting via terrestrial transmitters in the years 1998 to 2006, focusing on majority audience - Czech TV1, Prima TV and TV Nova.
