The concept of education according to St. Augustine
Pecková, Alžběta ; Rybák, David (advisor) ; Pelcová, Naděžda (referee)
The bachelor's thesis on The Concept of Education according to St. Augustine focuses on the analysis of Augustine's ideas concerning education and upbringing within the methodological framework of the history of philosophy. The thesis examines Augustine's view of what is the meaning of education and education. In this context, Augustine's thought is strongly influenced primarily by Plato's philosophy and, of course, by the philosophical and theological tradition that followed. We will trace this context in which Augustine is situated, and also the way in which he builds on earlier sources, especially Plato's idea of education as a bringing to ideas and the motive of anamnesis. We will use this comparison to characterize Augustine's thinking on education more generally, with key themes being the relationship between education and religion, the role of the teacher in the educational process, and the importance of love and truth, example and the individual approach to education. Augustine's writings On the Teacher, Christian Education, and the Confessions will be the primary textual sources.
Effect of light on microalgae growth
Adamec, Matěj ; Sukačová, Kateřina (referee) ; Naď, Martin (advisor)
Light is one of the key elements affecting the growth of photoautotrophic algae in photobioreactors. For optimal cultivation in such a device, sufficient access to light radiation to the microalgae is required sufficient light intensity is needed. In this work, considerable attention is paid to the influence of light during the whole photosynthesis process. Viable solutions for the illumination of the photobioreactor by natural and artificial light are evaluated in detail, including a description of its main parameters. The design of a programmable illumination for a newly designed photobioreactor with eight horizontal tubes and a control calculation of PPFD (Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density) were performed. Afterwards, the designed illumination was implemented on the newly built photobioreactor to evaluate the effect of photoperiod length and LED light coloration on the actual microalgae cultivation. Based on these data, the optimal photoperiod length could be determined, and ratios of 12:12, 18:6, and 24:0 (light phase:dark phase) were tested. Finally, to evaluate the spatial distribution of the photobioreactor illumination, CFD simulations of selected photobioreactor tubes were performed using simulation software ANSYS FLUENT.

The aim of this thesis was to examine traditional Japanese lamps and the origami technique. Also, to learn about modern trends in forms of illumination and compare their design among Japan and other countries. From the gathered knowledge a new illumination object inspired by Japanese tradition was designed.
The conception of the transcendent in the workings of Shihab al-Din Yahya Suhrawardi
KUČERA, Václav
This work deals with the transcendent in the cosmogonal conception of persian mystic and philosopher Shihab al-Din al-Suhrawardi. In short it discusses his life, works and historicla-cultural context of the arab world in the 12th century. More broadly it deals with the genesis in the philosophy of illumination, the school of ideas of al-Suhrawardi. It analyses the hierarchy of creation from the transcendent creator through the celestial spheres and angelic beings down to the elemental world of matter. It clarifies that the whole process is a continuum and that the Light of lights has even despite his transcendency a direct relationship with everything it creates. Further it contains a few rules given by al-Suhrawardi as a guide to the successful life. At the end of the work is a short treatise about the history of the philosophy of illumination in between the death of al-Suhrawardi and present days.
Kutná Hora Antiphonary from the prague workshop of Valentine Noh of Jindřichův Hradec
Kořenková, Nikola ; Kubík, Viktor (advisor) ; Royt, Jan (referee)
The goal of this work is a monographic treatment of the Kutná Hora Antiphonary (Prague, NK XXIII A 2) from 1470-1471 in the context of the Prague workshop of Valentine Noh of Jindřichův Hradec. Its creator belongs to the generation of illuminators who helped to integrate, transform and overcome the heritage of the beautiful style tradition. The newly emerging style system significantly influenced book painting of the second half of the 15th century and the early 16th century. The work is based mostly on a combination of formal and iconographic analysis. The outcome of this work should be a refinement of the information on decoration and a summary assessment of the significance of the Kutná Hora Antiphonary for the development of book painting in our territory in the 2nd half of the 15th century and the early 16th century.

Německý Brod Gradual by Paul of Mělník from 1506
Blechová, Světlana ; Kubík, Viktor (advisor) ; Zapletalová, Jana (referee)
The presented dissertation thesis called " Německý Brod graduale by Paul Melnik in 1506" is bound to my bachelor thesis, which also dealt with manuscript from the Paul of Melnik's workshop. The introduction of the thesis summarizes the already existing literature on the topic (Chap. 1). Then the following chapters are focused on the illuminator of the studied graduale (Chap. 2.1); they are also engaged in the questionable issues of provenance and dating the graduale, which is allegedly dated in 1506, however, the illumination contained in it rather refers to the graphic analogy (ies) of A. Dürer, which was (were) issued not earlier than in 1511 (Chap. 2.2). The thesis also includes a chapter which is dedicated to the donator of the manuscript (Chap. 3.1). Moreover, there are emphasized problems of literary fraternity and art of Utraquism in Bohemia as well (Chap. 3.3). The chapter 3.2 tries to summarize the works of the illuminator Paul of Melnik, and also to describe his artistic character. The last chapters are devoted to the decoration of the graduale and to possible analogies within the illuminations (Chap. 4).
The Litoměřice Gradual of 1517
Kabourková, Jana ; Kubík, Viktor (advisor) ; Jarošová, Markéta (referee)
The Litoměřice Gradual of 1517 Subject of this thesis is a detailed analysis of monographic Utraquist Gradual from Litoměřice, dated to the year 1517 (Lovosice, SOA, IV C 1).The study involves a review of the published literature to date on and consistent formal and iconographic analysis decorations. In the introduction, the manuscript was partially studied in terms of cultural and historical context of its origin and dating. The donors, Jakub Ronovský and Vaclav Řepnický, are introduced in the extant sources and in connection with a major Utraquist Brotherhood at the Church of All Saints in Litoměřice. Chapter 2.2 extensively elaborates on the issue of dating the manuscript. Personality anonymous, who painted manuscript, evaluated chapter 2.3. Unknown origin painters compensate in this work a comprehensive study of creative expression illuminators and their possible inspiration. In the foreground are highlighted especially the analogy with the second generation of the Danube School and graphic designs from the late 15th century. The second part of the study elaborates formalized Gradual, the individual illuminated folio orientation puts into context the development of contemporary art on the basis of particularized analogies. Besides the comparison with published choral manuscripts Janicek...
Human being by Ibn Rushd and Maimonides
Kopecká, Pavlína ; Hogenová, Anna (advisor) ; Rybák, David (referee)
This thesis interprets the concept of human being in the work of Maimonides and ibn Rushd, two representatives of major Arab and Jewish medieval philosophy. It combines the ancient Greek philosophical tradition, especially Aristotle, with a religious context. When Maimonides and Ibn Rushd tried to harmonize these two traditions, they had to deal with many opposite views, that stemmed from the difference between religious and ancient world. Behind this intellectual ground have they created the original thesis and approaches to grasping reality, the world and the human being in it. The issue of human being is analyzed in three levels. The first level consists of the relationship between human being and creation, which addresses the question about origin of the world the human soul and the resurrection. The second level, i.e. the man and the world, is devoted to describing a scheme of the world, human knowledge and the theory of prophecy. Ethical and political views are analyzed on the third level, which represents the position of human being in relation to the polis. Keywords Ibn Rushd, Maimonides, Aristotle, Plato, neoplatonism, philosophy, religion, The Koran, Torah, human being, world, creation, eternity, soul, resurrection, emanation, knowledge, illumination, active intellect, prophecy, politics,...
